Sakura - Wharfedale
« on: Oct 16, 2007 at 10:21 AM »
Hello po mga masters, patulong naman. I'm planning to have my own HT for my room. My room is small so floorstanders are out of the equation; pag mag floorstanders kase ako i might not really use its maximum potential baka mabingi ako so sayang naman and also space is a concern.  Im also on a tight budget so out po yung mga talagang mahal na brands.

Pwede na ba to?

FL/FR        - Wharfedale Diamond 9.1
Center       - Wharfedale WH-2 Center
Surrounds  - Wharfedale WH-2 Surrounds

Amp - Sakura AV-378  - Nabasa ko po to sa Sakura thread and ok naman yung mga reviews.  Pero yung mga reviews ay Sakura - DTX combination so tanong ko lng sana kung OK to para i-drive ang mga Wharfedales. Yung sound quality ng Sakura - Wharfedale for Movies and Music ok rin po ba? Yung system ko kase 50% movies and 50% music.

Subwoofer - Hingi po ako ng recommendations. Yung mura lng po.

Nabasa ko rin dito na gumaga ng custom subwoofer si sir NRVBLKR, ano po ba yung specs ng sub nia and how much. Ok rin ba for music and movies?

Thanks..  :)

magkano ba yung sakura amp that you're eyeing? abang ka na lang sa ht marketplace, baka me makita kang entry-level yamaha ng mga mag-upgrade. ipon lang ng konti. since you're on a budget, mukhang your chosen speakers will do na sa small room mo. otherwise, you can also try looking at the wharfedale crystal series. value speakers ito ng wharfe. saw a complete set of them sa 3rd floor(??), virra mall, greenhills... malapit lang din sa mga computer shops doon.

patience is virtue my friend... if i were you, abang ka lang ng Yamaha receivers if you're into HT, or might as well post ka ng "Looking for an entry level yamaha receiver" sa B&S section, no harm in trying, baka makakuha ka ng magandang deal, the advantage of these receivers against sakura is their optical/co-axial output, mas mae-enjoy mo ang HT mo with these features, imo :)

for the speakers, oks ang wharfs, or you may try din dai-1chi speakers. medyo ipon ka pa ng konti para mas ok ang set-up mo ;)

To KimosabE - ano ba ibig sabihin ng SARS?

How about SUBWOOFER, may ma rerecommend ba kayo?  Yung good for both movies and music. For music, dapat accurate and mag blend ng maayos sa Wharfedale 9.1 para macomplement nya ng husto yung limited bass extension ng Wharfs tapos pag movies, dapat medjo malalim yung extension nia para labas lahat ng LFE ng movie.. :)

To answer your question to Kimosabe...

You can find some 2nd hand entry level yamaha receivers ranging from 7K to 10K bro, meron din sa buynsellph.com.

As for the subwoofer, marami din sa B&S section na nagbebenta, for your room size, an 8 or 10 incher will do bro, if you have the budget go for velodyne, pwede mo ihuli na ang subwoofer ;)

btw, oks ang sw sa HT setup, but for audio setup, a left/right channel will do basta ok ang speakers mo, mapa-bookshelf or floorstand yan, or might as well, try a separate Audio set-up in the future ;)

IMO :)

If you're really in a budget, try Dai-ichi speakers. Pero siyempre I'd go with the Wharfs if I had the money (pogi points na rin :D).

Tama sila, be patient in buying your AV receiver.

As for subs, ok din ang DTX 4.15. Nagka-groupbuy noon dito. Try looking for a 10-incher. Ok na siguro sa room mo.

Or look, for pre-owned gears sa buy and sell forums. Malay mo maka-tsamba ka ng good deal. ;D

To reynold - Hahaha, yan pala ang meaning ng SARS.. thanks. Magkano ba ang Velodyne na sub and what model specifically? From mellow acoustic to rock music that are heavy on bass especially yung bands na drop-tuned yung sound.

AsheCorven,

if budget is tight, i suggest that you build your system gradually. don't get everything in one go. start with a decent amp and front speakers. choose a combination that sounds good to you. then as more funds become available, get the center speaker, surrounds, and finally the sub.

some people are eager to get a full 5.1 system, only to find out that they want something better. some eventually end up selling their old system, often at a loss to fund their upgrade.
peace man!

I don't know the exact price of a velodyne SW, but based on some post here in Pdvd, a 10 incher is @ 10K up, 2nd hand pa ata yun, hehehe mahal ang velo pero oks ang review... I'm using an all Dai-1chi (DTX) speaker set-up kasi e, yamaha rxv-440 receiver ko and dtx 4.15 SW ko for HT, pati sa audio set-up ko DTX 9.5T (floorstand) rin ang gamit ko which is good din in all types of music. I tried to connect my dtx 4.10 sa audio set-up ko pero parang overkill na sa bass, di na maganda pakinggan so i end up using only the floorstand speakers and selling my dtx 4.10. well that's me, hehehe :)  Pero if you prefer to have a subwoofer pa rin on your audio set-up, that's fine, what'is important here is that you will enjoy your set-up ;)
Btw, naka-post nga pala yung dtx 4.10 ko sa B&S section ngayon, in case you're interested, hehehe ;D

Baka hindi pa lang nabe-break-in yung wharfs na in-audition mo, most of the speakers need to be break-in muna especially kapag brand new, kaya siguro hindi pa lumalabas yung full performance nya...

Anyway, timpi-timpi ka muna, good things come to those who waits :)
Goodluck bro ;)

To reynold - Cge i'll check your DTX 4.10.  Pwede PM mo ko sa price? hehehe.. Ano ba yung specs ng DTX 4.10 subwoofer mo? Ano ba ibig sabihin nang break-in?  As in dapat ibabad talaga or patugtugin nang matagal para maka "warm-up" para lumabas na talaga yung potential nia? :)

yup, the speakers need time to bring it's full potential. kailangan araw-araw na gamit, 2x a day para maganda for 2 hours, siguro in a week or two, break in na ang speakers mo nun :)

To gearhead - Thanks bro sa pricelist. Anong Yamaha 350 pala to?  Kase dalawang Yamaha 350 yung nakita ko - Yamaha RX-350 and Yamaha RX-V350.  Ang RX-350 ay two channel amp lng while ang RX-V350 ay 5.1 multichannel amp.. :)

Sir, as much as possible, opt for the binding posts.

Of course, buy the one with 5.1 channels.

Agree with Gearhead!

Go for the second hand branded amps ;D or better yet save up for an entry level branded receiver.  Wharfedale Diamond series not that hard to drive ;D

Cheers ;D

one of the wisdoms of buying a more capable system is that then you won't have to be repeating all your dvd/cd collection just to appreciate them in your new system everytime you upgrade.  :D  besides, it becomes false economy to be buying cheap now and then sell it cheaper at much loss. the money you throw disposing old items could have just been added to your current budget to get better performing ones.

AVR
Marantz SR-4300 6.1 Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby ProLogic I/II, DTS-ES 6.1 Discrete/Matrix,Neo:6 AVR

Fronts
Wharfedale Diamond 9.1

Center

Surrounds - Can't decide which one to buy.
Dai-Ichi Euro6 Bookshelf Speakers - Na-demo ko na to sa showroom nang Dai-ichi sa Megamall and maganda naman yung sound.

or

Subwoofer
Dai-Ichi DTX 4.10 - Ok ba yung sound nito on both HT and Audio apps?

:)

if i was to be asked,  you can go with all-euros/dai ichi setup and with the receiver that you have mentioned above. mas ok kung galing sa isang manufacturer or line ang speakers mo for a well balanced setup, you can use the euros-bs for your fronts and surround then a euros center too, then if your receiver has a speaker selector/switch, purchase a 9.1 naman for music.

just my 2 cents

Also try considering a 12" sub. Pero IMO, maganda naman performance ng DTX (I own a DTX 4.15)

Have you considererd Diamond CS for your center? Not to familiar with Wharfe Modus.  Wharfe surrounds would be nice too, para match lahat.  Great decision on getting a branded receiver. My uncle has an almost similar setup-Marantz Wharfedale and he has enjoyed it for some time already.  By the way, Diamond 9.1 dami accolades nyan ;D You can always use the surrounds and 9.1 for a more detailed set up if ever you decide to get floor standers ;D

Always trust the ears ::)
