Hello crisg0219 welcome aboard to PinoyDVD  ;) Try InfoMax at Park Square 2. Heard it's selling around 20k for the Tosh HD-A2 model.

Try to search around in other threads to get more info such as:

Toshiba HDA2

There is a shop in Megamall. Located where all the computer shops are. InfoMAX, they're selling the Toshiba HD-A20 fo 19,999 i think. No free HDDVD though but if you insist, they will give you one. You can use your credit card but its not on zero interest. They also have blu ray stuff there.

HD DVD has no region coding, Blu ray meron region coding. But both formats have region coding when it comes to Standard DVD playback. There is no way to circumvent this because of the firmware updates the players require.

Local distributors of HD-DVD and Blu-ray players sold their products twice the price compared to regular stores in the US like Circuit City and Best Buy. Why?

taxes and other legal stuff.

Otherwise, they just want to make a ton of money off early adopters who have the cash to buy these next-gen players.

hehe, I'm an early adopter got my HD-A2 for $199

Say its all about taxes, but I think it's too much. Products sold in the US are also imported and have taxes as well as sales tax but didnt cost as high as priced by local distributors. May be they want to make much money to those who have no idea on its retail price in other country.

its not all about huge profit.   Resellers here have to factor in some kind of budget for aftersales service expenses.

Yes, makakamura ka if you import yourself, but what if kung lemon yung unit?  Of course youll bear the grunt of the expenses by sending it back in the US or buying another one na lang.   But if you buy it from a reseller here, you do expect to have some kind warranty or aftersale service.  Of course, thats what added price is for, plus the regular profit.

I do import some of my  stuff myself.  Pikit mata na lang....hehehe.   ;D ;D
