Mystere, launched two valve amplifiers aimed at the hi-fi enthusiast who's hooked on the warmth of valve amplifiers but who also wants a bit more "punch" to their music, at a decent price.

The ia11 and ia21 sport eight valves in total, the ia11 coming with four 6SN7s and four EL34s, and the ia21 having the option to switch out the EL34s for KT88s.

The amps feature full pentode push-pull output topology with modest amounts of feedback, fully optimised, dual-mono Adaptive AutoBias circuit with integrated plate fuse, a high quality 24-step volume attenuator, fully hard-wired, double layer polypropylene coupling capacitors, robust low-noise resistors, high-purity copper conductors, large, premium quality power and output transformers, and a fully vented, heavy-gauge steel chassis.

They feature four line level inputs. The ia11 outputs 40 watts per channel, and the ia21 50 watts. The amps feature a soft-start circuit to help extend the life of the valves and reduce the chance of failure.

Mystere might have purchased the chassis from Melody Australia (since Melody has not been as active the past few years - correct me if i am wrong) but the internals are different as we have upgraded a few melody units in the past.  Sound character wise is also very different.

A report from the last audiofair  :) from wiredstate

Quote from: Hyperion
Audio Amplified. I suppose I was expecting newer Aurum Cantus or Vandersteen from our friends at Audio Amplified just like everybody else but lo, what they had were very cute and cuddly speakers and subwoofers from Era instead. The Era D4 has a 4 inch composite midwoofer while the D5 is a 5 incher. Both have 1 inch soft dome tweeters that are made from japanese silk as opposed to traditional polyester. These babies are designed by Aerial Acoustics engineer Michael Kelly but manufactured in China to lower the price of admission. The design goal was to make small speakers that are comfortable away from room boundaries and they definitely hit the mark. These speakers have superb bass extensions for their sizes coupled with lucid mids and highs that makes the speakers sing and disappear. I heard them with and without the sub and the effect of the sub is not as big as it normally would be with most petite speakers. The build quality by the way is superb. Had Noel told me these were made in the USA – I would have believed him. Powering them is probably one of the most gorgeous tube amps I’ve ever laid my eyes on: the Mystere ia21. Designed by the same dutch duo that brought us the Prima Luna stuff, the mystere is decked in elegant looking piano black gloss and if I were buyin an amp purely based on looks – this would be it. With a quad of KT88s driven by a quad of 6SN7s, it has enough meat and muscle to power most of the speakers out there. It features push-pull pentode output, autobias circuits, a stepped volume attenuator, premium transformers, polypropylene coupling caps and is hardwired with pure copper conductors.
:D

Sound characteristic of Cayin and Mysetere are different. Cayin is sweeter sounding.  Mystere is faster and more dynamic.  Its a matter of taste :)

Keep in mind that Mystere is 50% more expensive than cayin pound for pound.

I pm'ed prices
