I bought a PS3 to play those Bluray discs. But instead of watching HD movies, it made me a gamer.

ha ha dont blame urself bro Ps3 games are really nice to play coz the graphics are really smooth and like real. At least w/ the ps3 you have mulitiple options for total entertainment.

PS3 is really the bang for the buck multimedia machine. I surf the net, play games and watch movies with it. Cheaper than assembling your own HTPC.

am not sure if i'm the only one who notices this but the R1s played on the PS3 look a lot sharper and PQ seems a bit better. its either that or my eyes are slowly deceiving me.

this is probably one of the best upgrades i've made! thanks a million to this forum!

ther's a rumor that by year end eh below 1k nlng ang srp price for Bds that will be sold locally. Of thats true then moving forward to bluray is definitely a must thus maximizing the full potential of HD viewing.

Bro dont get me wrong ha based on the infos we received eh WARNER movies lng naman ang may 800 target selling price so other releases like FOX , PARAMOUNT, etc wla pa naman balita kelan magrelease d2 sa Pinas at reasonable prices.

I bought my PS3 last September 2007 when Sony offered the 60gb w/ free 5 BD movies as mail-in rebate @ $499 + tax. It's the free BD that enticed me to have one.

Same dilemma here! although i already have a brand new full-hd lcd tv. But a bd disc woth 800 bucks could motivate us.

Well, I have a DVD home theater and the brand name is SONY DAV-DZ556KB
and a BRAVIA KLV-32V300A TV.

Saka na siguro ako maguupgrade from Blu-Ray pero kasi, gusto ko makita yung BD exclusive bonus features ng Ratatouille and Cars.

Pag nagkaroon na siguro ng Blu-Ray Disc Home Theater ako bibili ng Blu-Ray Player.

I just recently adapted the format even though I only use a BD-R Drive for my PC but i should say that I've never seen such richness in color, sharpness in picture and added BOOOOM to my sound system. I can't wait to go FULL HD sometime next year kung makumbinsi na si pops bumili ng gears! hehehe!

I'll still be purchasing a lot of DVD's that's for sure due to the obvious high price of BD movies but I'll purchase (or double dip) BD movies that I like to watch over and over again and for those I consider priceless and collector's choice.

I find it advantageous to go Blu at this point in time where BD's are still in market penetration stage for the prices takes too long to go down. Talagang sulit yung expensive price given naman the quality it offers (and the opportunity to brag as to "I got one first!" in the Latest Purchases threads hehehe!). Unlike the trend now with DVD's na months (unpredictable sometimes) after release lagapak agad ang price which is also good (I can buy more) but in terms of value and resell value, mababa talaga.

Naiinis na nga ako kasi mga kilala ko madami pang Blu-Ray cased DVD movies eh yun pala galing lang sa mga Pirates of Caribbean. Haaay naku.. nakakawala ng class and a sense of 'separation'! hehehe!

to answer the question, nope not yet because :

1) as of now its way to pricey for moi
2) LCDs & plasmas or HDTVs are again way to pricey for moi
3) the technology tremendously improved viewing experience but its still not enticing enough still looking for more quality freebies that come along with the package

hehehhe
4) siguro kapag marami na akong disposable income...bwahahahhaha

Got myself an Egreat and an HDDVD. Will probably wait it out again this coming year to see what happens before i get myself a BD player. Of course, taking into consideration the WAF!

re: poll, no plans of upgrading to bd as of now. same reason as with the others: budget. lol. even if it's gaining mainstream popularity, it's still really expensive.

Jumped ship for Bluray in December 2006 (Samsung BD-P1000) and HD DVD (HD-A3) in January 2008 along with a PS3..only to sell my HD DVD player in September ...

I still have my DVD and continue to buy those movies that i think dont deserve the extra buck for bluray
