I believe it was filmed with a theatrical release in mind (1.85:1 aspect ratio according to IMDb), but they couldn't find a distributor so it went direct-to-DVD instead before it aired on cable in the States.

From DVD Verdict:

You can really see how much faith Sony has in this product through the way they handle its release on DVD. No bonus features save for a collection of trailers, a perplexing pan-and-scan transfer, the film's attempted visual scope crammed into a 1.33:1 full-frame fiasco...

Still, it was a bit of a hit locally... as expected...

Just starting to show up in video stores. Looks like Magnavision are importing less 'Imported' discs. Some titles like Close Encounters 30th are available in some stores but not in others. Superbad is more widely available in it's 475 local DVD9 variant, and Stardust is said to be available at Trinoma since last week, but only today did I chanced upon it among the four astros that I regularly visit...

I haven't seen any R3 of this film. I like this movie too. Great sounding gun battle at the end. There is an R1 of this for sure, but you would have to order it on-line, or from someone you know in the U.S.

And Rain Man, French Connection, and Chariots of Fire are the onLy ones that are not avaiLabLe separateLy if I'm right. That's actuaLLy the first time I saw those titLes in DVD here.
