Both the LAKERS and CELTICS have fulfilled their destiny now its FACE OFF time for both teams. WHO WILL BE THE 2007-2008 NBA CHAMPS? Will Kobe win his first title w/o SHAQ and also be crowned Finals MVP? Will Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen get their first taste of an NBA Championship Ring. The excitements awaits.

That is why I don't like him too as a player. He kinda mellowed down this past few seasons though, maybe because of maturity. Well I think this is his moment. No more MJ, he's in his prime and in the Finals and best of all no more Shaq in his team.

i agree with you on that.

i like phil jackson, BUT kobe off-sets my liking for phil to a great extent. just a personal opinion, and i do not mean to offend kobe fans out there.

^^ That's Kobe the MVP for you - either you like him or hate him.  :)  Even the behavior of KG and Pierce on-court might tick off fans of the opposing team, but obviously not to the same extent as Kobe for some fans.  Well, at least he's got the skills, the stats and the awards to back it up.  Should be interesting how he'll handle himself at Boston.

If LA steals one of the first two games in Boston, I think the championship will be LA's in Game 5.  But if this has to go back to Boston, lagot ang LA.  Historically and with the 2-3-2 format, the home team should be favored when the NBA Finals reaches a Game 6 or 7.

I agree.   With Kobe, its either you like him or not.   Im an avid Laker fan so, theres no denyin, I should be on his side.   But tell you, if I aint a Laker fan, Id hate him too.   So I undertsand the folks who hate him where they are coming from.

But the way he had been on and off the court lately, you have to accept the fact that he reached a certain level of maturity that earned respect from his detractors.  And even the media has accepted it.  They voted him for MVP, so thats really something.   At least, he had gotten their respect.

from cnnsi's Chris Ballard

So, you see, this is Kobe, all of this. Sometimes childish, sometimes regal, sometimes stubborn, always relentless. This is a guy who, according to Nike spokesperson KeJuan Wilkins, had the company shave a couple of millimeters off the bottom of his signature shoe because "in his mind that gave him a hundredth of a second better reaction time." A guy who has played the last three months with a torn ligament in the pinkie of his shooting hand. A guy who, says teammate Coby Karl, considers himself "an expert at fouling without getting called for it." (Watch how Bryant uses the back of his hand, not the front, to push off on defenders and a closed-fist forearm to exert leverage.) A guy who says of being guarded by the physical Bowen, "It'll be fun" -- and actually means it. A guy who, no matter what he does, will never get the chance to play the one game he'd die for: Bryant versus Jordan, each in his prime. "There'd be blood on the floor by the end," says Winter, who has coached them both.

This is Kobe Bryant, age 29, in pursuit of his fourth NBA title. Even if it's hard for us to understand him, perhaps it's time that we appreciate him.

If the Celtics are going to win a championship, theres no better time than now.    Their window of opportunity isnt that as wide as the Lakers.   The Lakers are in a much better position for the next 3-5 years than the Celtics.

This is my two top teams... so I wouldn't be that sad whoever wins!!!

I agree with what Munskie said above post... if Garnett wants a ring.. now is his only chance.  Once Bynum plays next year, everyone else's chances has just become slimmer.

The Lakers' best chance to steal a game is in Game 1... in that game, they can surprise the Celts with how much they've improved as a team since their acquisition of Gasol.  I think that Gasol is the key... if the Lakes establish an inside-out game featuring Gasol in the opening minutes, KG and Perkins may be in foul trouble before the end of the first quarter.  Either that or Gasol would be getting double digits already.

If I were to predict a winner, I'll say Lakers in 6!  But what I really want is Lakers in 7... 7 games for this retro-series that has captured almost everyone's attention.

I'm with the Celtics coz they're d underdogs. Its now or never for BOSTON. Paul Pierce has endured rough sailing as a Celtic and i feel he should be rewarded now for staying w/ the organization. Same goes to Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen its time for them to rip the fruits out of their harvests.
 GO CELTICS!!!

Ay naku...

Celtics led the league with 66 wins.

They have homecourt advantage.

They have Garnett, Pierce and Allen, who by the way are perennial all-stars.

How could they be underdogs??   ::) ::)

in terms of hype, definitely.  i mean how can they compete with the kobe juggernaut?  it's also the same reason why most people want to see the celtics  take this series.  me, included.

because they have underachieved in the playoffs.. it took them 20 games to get to the finals compared to the Lakers' 15 and in a tough Western Conference at that.. that's why they are the underdogs.. plus, LA has Kobe.. ;D

Sir, what you stated is true but they are still the underdogs coz the Celtics dont have championship experience like what the Lakers enjoy. Doc Rivers, in his first stint to coach in an NBA finals is up against the ZEN Master w/ various playoffs and championship experience plus 9 titles, all in threepeat fashion. Its still David vs Goliath.
