A mindset caused in big part by the preconceptions of beauty as proliferated by mainstream media & by product advertisers. Just take a look at all the whitening ads & their "messages" regarding beauty. I think one of the worst (among many) tags is the "Kutis Mayaman" campaign of a Gluta product; instilling the notion that the "rich & wealthy" all have fair skin.

Come to think of it: Filipinos are obsessed to have milky white complexion. Caucasians on the other hand, are dying for a golden tan. They even have tanning machines to get the perfect tan.

I don't get it bakit gusto mag glutha ng mga tao, it doesn't look normal, refrigerator white ang balat mo?! dami ako nakikita, they actually look like hilaw na albino, I think meron threshold, kasi may kilala ako nag glutha, there was a time maganda naman tingnan kasi white na pinkish, but after awhile siguro after ma alter ng husto pigmentation ng skin mo, mukha na sya bigla white walker LOL
