this is the feature that i like the most, at my listening level of 65db( maximum for my htrc180 is at 99db), i get the best sound quality im looking for. the LFE is just right to compliment the LCRs, i always get this activated everytime i watch, i have never breached the 65 db level anytime

by the way, the results of my calibrations may have been caused by my room size ( around 9 sqm only)versus the Ultra tuning of 10hz. I have consulted sir mike c and will revert to 15 hz tuning and re run audyssey again.

what db is your new sub setting after running audyssey?

brader tirso, what is the equivalent relative volume at 65db in relation to 0db as reference?

i will have to check for accuracy but i think its around -25 or -20db

the 0db is equivalnet to 82db absolute from my receiver( tama ba o nabaligtad ko yung aboslute at relative)

ok, tama ang 82db "absolute" kasi "relative" daw ang tawag ng 0db reference as per sir conan.

This doesn't really matter. The only important thing is that no speaker should have a trim which is at the limit of its adjustment. In the case of Denon, that means -12 db or +12 db. I think that Onkyo goes to +-15 db.

Sir Weng,

Matanong ko lang po if you are using a tripod when calibrating using audyssey?

It's absolutely essential to use a tripod when calibrating with Audyssey. The best is to get a tripod for a boom mic so that the tripod doesn't sit on the chair when calibrating - kasi the chair might vibrate with the pings and this would affect the calibration. Meron akong nabiling ganung klaseng tripod sa Raon for P500.

Sir Weng,

Matanong ko lang po if you are using a tripod when calibrating using audyssey?

i was using a tripod before but lately short plastic chair na ipatong ko sa sofa. i will borrow a tripod but it will still stand on the sofa which is not recommended as per streetsmart. hanap muna ako ng tripod na may boom. i will run audyssey again and hook up the SMS-1

naka negative db kasi lahat ng speakers kaya baka ito ang cause na mataas ang master volume ko. hula ko lang ;D

i did another calibration last night brader weng, i set the Ultra at 15 hz tuning, room mode OFF, gain at 10 o'clock and i got the following result.

FR: -8 db
FL: -9.5 db
C: - 12.5 db
SUB; +3 db

i am getting + 3db for the sub everytime i do calibration and have done about 6 calibrations already. i PMd sir mike c to ask if theres something wrong with my setting sa sub kase nga nanibago ako, being confirmed there was none, i did not bother anymore, i just adjusted FR, FL, C by 3 dbs up and Im good already, nanibago lang siguro ako sa Ultra,im happy naman with the result after the adjustments.

thanks. oo nga no sir mark and daming ads ;D

i can only choose one, which do you think has better effect? the front high or wide? i don't have yet a pair of speakers to test.

here's the place where i can add the additional front. tama ba ang speaker placement?

front high

front wide-right

front wide-left

the wide speakers can be mounted 45 deg to the seating position.

haven't tested yet coz my kids are busy playing with the xbox ;D just hooked it up this morning kasi.

obviously, the onkyo is louder at 135 wpc compared to the 100 wpc denon.

brader ninja,

mas maganda kung front wide kasi may mga tux na doon sa paglalagyan ko sa sides. doon kasi naka install ang wharfe dfs ko dati.

i may have to resurrect my diy kappa sub to utilize the .2 sub output. hanap pa ako ng sub amp to test it kasi nabenta ko na ang sub (pilyo) amp ko.

Weng, research ka muna sa website ng Audyssey. The Wides have a better impact but the angle should be 60 degrees, not 45. The Heights are ideally at 45 degrees while the fronts should be 30 degrees, kaya mali ang proposed mo na location ng Heights kasi parang halos same angle as the fronts ang proposed mo.

Actually, for many people, the Heights are preferred kasi they can be mounted sa walls kaya they don't take floor space. Kung ako sa iyo, just make a choice depending on aesthetics and convenience.

EDIT: Actually, the theoretical ideal angle for the Wides is 55 degrees, not 60 degrees. Kung d pa kaya yun, whatever is the best possible compromise should do. The rules are not hard and fast.

sir mark, is the 55 degrees reference from the side wall? meaning the speakers on the side should be facing 55 degrees to the seating position? malabo yata description ko ;D

yun ba floor standers sa side ng setup mo ay front wide? aesthetically, i would prefer to install the front wide if the proposed side wall is feasible.

Simplest is to look at the chart here: http://www.audyssey.com/audio-technology/audyssey-dsx

Sit at the Main Listening Position. Make a virtual line to the center of the screen. Make another line to the wide speaker. The angle between those 2 lines should ideally be 55 degrees.

Yes, the FS sa side are the front wides. Ideally kasi, they should be full-range speakers. However, there's really no problem to use bookshelves, in combo with subs.
