Never had this issue with 550A. Agree with Master Joey, make sure you have good connection. Also, check other sources if it's doing the same thing.

thanks for the recommendations. bigla namang nawala yung distortion sa left channel. baka matagal na nakastock yung amp and needed time to run in. parang kotse na nakagarahe na kailangan pa rin i start yung makina at i rev. anyway, happy ako sa 550a matched with my pioneer lx50 dvdp and wharfedale 9.3. currently no toe in and bass became fuller and more focused while taming the highs a bit. will check other cables and ICs and also a bit of room treatment to fully enjoy my setup. i'm focused more on just listening to my gears and just do little and cheap tweaks with the cables, speaker placement and acoustics

yea mga masters. been looking out for that para ma replicate ko yung problem pagpunta ko sa service center. but it seems to be gone. tried channels a and b and all the inputs pero wala na talaga. hopefully it doesn't rear its ugly head again. if i do send it back and with the scarcity of the 550a it might be a good excuse to go for the 650a. hehehe

Actually, maski hindi lumabas yun problem, you can still have them check it out for you. Paano kung lumabas yan ngayon, then tomorrow hindi na naman lumabas.

Supposedly, sila na dapat mag-monitor nun. In cruel terms, "problema na nila yun".  May warranty ka naman. Basta maulit again, bring it back to them. I'm sure they would understand your situation kasi erratic yun problem.

Wala pong 850A, master. As for the sound ng 851A, the best way to find out is to get one.

nagulgulo plano ko....rp1 at 550c halos pareho price. for a budget tt the rp1 is very respectable.

i have an old gemini pt 2000 II with  shure white label cartridge with 2 extra styli.  its built like a tank.
its a clone of the technics sl 1200.  more for club and dj purpose. cost, maybe slightly more than the rega rp1 when i bought it in the us. why i chose the gemini?... simple its power... 11o-230v 50/60hz. all the others 110v 50 hz - not sure kung okay dito. my first choice then was a rega planar 2 w sumiko blue point cart. price slightly higer. my problem...voltage/parts...there were no regas in the phil. that time. pero mukang destiny... meron ng rega dito.

im still using the gemini regularly..no hums..quiet w the white label and 540p. but side by side with the rega. the gemini sounded...yes for club and dj. image good.details..fat and warm.
the rega extracted an audiophille quality sound from my lps. i thought my system sounded a bit bright on the nuetral side...it sounded warm... after hearing the regas . sheesh i dont like warm sounding systems..or maybe the rega was overly bright, which was not the case. type ko rega

another option...get another 540p and get the rega..the 550c can wait. im using bluray to play cds.
magulo talaga when you start auditioning, may psychological glitch.

last option. get the rega rp3,540p/640p 851a/651c and take a vacation..i hope guru nelsons offer stands..papaampun din ako.

i paired the gemini w shure v15mr. bingo! kaya lang para ka na rin bumili ng rp1 sa halaga nung shure.

when they played cds.....all rega setup...i went out and took a ciggy break. im not very familiar with cds. i really wouldnt know the difference between a good copy and an audiophille cd.

i find the sound of lps more pleasing to my ears. thats why im leaning towards the rega. the 550c can wait a bit longer.

Hindi masarap himasin sa gabi ang cold wood enclosure ng speakers with matching mosquitoes. At least, hindi ka nag-iisa. Hindi ka papabayaan ni Parker the stud.  Kaso ingat ka, baka mapasarap masyado ang tulog mo, hindi mo mamalayan ang ginagawa ni Parker.

what is also real, im a happy cambridge owner. it keeps my feet on the ground.  easy on the pockets too. within its level...very good, if not excellent.

its insane to compare bugeted products to high end stuff.

listening to high end gears makes me feel like calling mother earth back.

spending too much moolah is a bit hard to justify...id rather watch clapton live in hk or follow jeff beck to japan. memories that will stay on till parkinsons......and what little memory left....cambridge

following everyone's sound advices, i will be bringing the 550a back to 5th avenue tomorrow to have it checked habang maaga. sana wala naman problema, kung meron man sana madali lang ang solusyon. wala munang sounds tonight, the amp is back in the box. xbox na lang on my AVR
