hi,
I have a panasonic dvp5986k with usb and price I bought it was 4990.
It's Divx Ultra Certified. But the problem I think worth noting is that
it's divx movies via usb support only up to 575p and not 720p. I tried playing
a divx movie which was 720p but I only heard the sound and it says on
the monitor that "video resolution is not supported". I then  converted
the divx movie to 575p and it work perfectly on the usb port. If you will be playing
lots of usb movies at higher resolution then I would recommend you not
choose this and instead look for players that have support for 720p and
above for their divx movies.

   Hope this helps.

@mrm - It is being over-optimistic to expect a standard def DVD player to play high-def files. If you want to play high def files you heed an high def player. The manufacturers want your money  ;).

The Philips models are actually good as they will play divx files on the usb. Some brands do not.

UPDATED:

Hi sir uvax,
di naman over optimistic. the philips can upscale upto 1080p . when I play divx movies tulad ng mga
gawa sa IMAX which have resolutions of 720p and 1080i, nag peplay sila pag burned on a dvd (when converted by using video converters then upscale through
my player). pero pag linagay divx movies(unconverted)  sa usb o kaya sa dvd di sila mag play or . sound lang lumalabas.  I have research through the philips site that  my model supports only up to 575p when playing divx. But there are some models which are capable of supporting up to 720p via divx movies but the site I read them did not mention the brand. I just want to point this out so that they will know what the limitation of this player.

Currently no Standard dvd player can play 720p or 1080p divx movies. You can only hear the audio.
Some can upscale your non-HD divix movies. But upscaled movies is still not HD quality.

Use a PC, Tvix or HD Media Players if you want to watch HD quality movies.
