DD is louder and has more ambiance sound than DTS, so far it's the only disc I noticed with that difference.. :D

Thanks. Was planning to get this at Astro. At least there is a distinction between the two tracks I could choose from.

i also noticed na mas malakas ang bass kapag DD compared to dts..

region 1 or region 3.. it doesn't matter as long as it has good PQ and SQ.

The first release did not have Dolby, so I doubt if Eagles Hell Freezes over has a well-mastered Dolby 5.1.

I suspect that due to budget constraints for the 2nd release, the Dolby was merely cross-converted from the DTS master then tweaked, rather than originally mastered from the source master tapes.

I agree with you. I first watched it in VHS format in surround sound format.

If the player or the TV can play both sytem (NTSC or PAL) then you'll have no problem
playing a R2 Disc on a region free player..

Pardon the OT...

Region 2 DVDs from Europe are PAL-encoded while Region 2 DVDs from Japan are NTSC. Even if your TV is not multisystem, as long as your DVD player is Region-Free and can convert PAL to NTSC, any-region dvds will play fine. :)

it doesn't matter kahit 1901 pa binili basta meron PAL system (R2) or another option; your player can play PAL and  output to NTSC pwede rin yan.

Siguro kung gustong gusto ko yung movie at makakakita ako ng R1,then R1 would be the primary choice...first is the packaging at the same time para na rin maplay sa PS3...mas magaganda rin kasi bonus contents ng R1

Doesn't matter which region the dvds are as long as both have the same features and inserts.  :)

I prefer R1 over R3 because of the packaging, printing quality.

We bought an R3 before, The Mummy: Ultimate Edition, it was supposed to have the fullscreen version of the movie on the 2nd disc, but when we popped the disc in. No fullscreen version was available. :P

It does matter, since the packaging and even the special features are more superior in the R1 versions ;D

While no longer a priority like before, I still prefer the R1 version.  But if it's not really a movie I like so much and the price difference is significant...then the R3 would do.

A lot of experts here were saying that there should be no difference at all, in terms of PQ and AQ,..

But in my experience, there is a huge difference,

Great samples are Rambo (R3), the audio track is not 5.1, only 2 channel, compared to the R1 that I got from Amazon, and the R2 my brother brought home from UAE...

PQ is very grainy and pixelized, not even in WS format,

as well as the titles NEXT and Forbidden Kingdom,...

I do have the discs here that's how I know...

Cheers..!

Generally I guess there's not too much difference anymore.  These DVDs are of course from Warner, Disney, Universal, Fox, etc.  The Viva ones are the exceptions of course as well as from Solar and C Interactive before(I assume the new ones are ok already).

I don't so, I actually think that the quality of the locally available R3 discs have actually deteriorated in an effort to make them more accessible by lowering the prices, thus resulting in a low quality lower priced products.   The R3 DVDs of 8-10 years before are actually more equivalent to their R1 counterparts then.

I have the Rambo (R3) DVD. Locally made/published, I believe. It has a DTS 5.1 track.

The R1's lately has been very tempting.....now you can see 3-Disc Edition Wow! di ba? but the extra 3rd disc which is the digital copy is really no use to me.  :-\   I'd still prefer the R1 (may re-sale value)  ;D

because they like the movie and more people prefer the R1 better.  But if there's a R1 with 2discs and 3discs...most probably lalangawin yun 3discs.
