(Sorry for the off-topic reply)

Hi sir Vic,

Is this the Samsung Plasma that you demoed to us last week?  This is a Full HD and 3D capable unit right?  I remember comparing the 2 visually with the Pioneer Kuro you had on display, and if I'm not mistaken the black levels and the colors of the Samsung are very very close to the Pioneer Kuro.  This was while watching the Blu-ray version of Pirates of the Caribbean you had on demo hehe!

Anyway, if you do get any price drops on that model, let me know ok?

Thanks!

Now to get back on topic...

I would say the Panasonic TX32LX77, the new Samsung LA32A450, or the LG 32" Plasma TV are the current best 32" TV's you can get currently at that price range.  Although the LG is slightly more expensive, I noticed that the colors and the black levels are much better than the other 2 LCD's :)

Stretching the budget a little further and the new Samsung LA32A550 or LA32A650 becomes interesting.  Sporting full HD panels, both will be great for PC Gaming, Console Gaming use :)

Well said... By the way, the Samsung PS42A450PI is only an HD-Ready TV (not full HD). Nevertheless, it displays very good picture quality not far from Pioneer Kuro.

(I'm assuming you are an avid gamer since you mentioned the PinoyPSX forums ;D)

If you are looking for a 32" LCD with Full HD resolution (1920x1080) I suggest you ask Nemesis91 (sir Jeff) or E-reply (sir Vic) for a quotation on the following:

- Samsung LA32A550
- Samsung LA32A650

(Information from Samsung Singapore Website)
http://www.samsung.com/sg/consumer/detail/detail.do?group=television&type=television&subtype=lcdtv&model_cd=LA32A550P1RXXS
http://www.samsung.com/sg/consumer/detail/detail.do?group=television&type=television&subtype=lcdtv&model_cd=LA32A650A1RXXS

However I believe both LCD TV's will be priced above your Php 35K budget since both use Full HD panels.  They are a good match for you though, since they will make good PC / Gaming console monitors especially if you are looking at playing at Full HD resolutions (for PS3 and PC gaming) around 3 feet away from the TV.  I remember asking the lowest cash price for the Samsung LA32A550 at Ansons near Podium, and the price the salesman gave me was Php 48K.  I'm sure sir Vic or sir Jeff can give you a better deal :)

My suggestion is to go with a cheaper HD ready LCD TV capable of 720p resolution (usually 1366x768), like the following:

- Panasonic TX-32LX77
- Samsung LA32R81B or the newer Samsung LA32A450

If you really, really need the Full HD resolution, a cheaper alternative is getting a LCD PC monitor with HDMI and other video inputs, like the following:

- Hanns-G 28" LCD Monitor
- Viewsonic 28" LCD Monitor

Note that these are plain PC monitors, and don't have the image enhancing circuitry of LCD TV's.  Plus they use TN LCD panels which tend to give you poor viewing angles.  They are just not suitable for watching movies or TV, since they are designed primarily for PC use :)

Hope that helps!

pana 32lx77...yan ang binili ko...ok na ok sa PS3. pasok na pasok sa budget mo, may sukli ka pa. hehe. though 720p lang siya but i doubt na mapansin mo difference ng 720p at 1080p at a screen size of 32"...sa sights &sounds ako bumili since mas malapit pero i'm sure theater works is good store too. ;D

Although 32A450 is a newer model with 10K contrast, many pdvd members, who visited our shop at Sights and Sounds, find the 32R81 presents better picture quality. It delivers smoother picture because of the Movie Plus visual precision that creates fast action scene with none of the judder. The same Movie Plus feature is now integrated with the 5 series, but not with the 4 series.

However, between Samsung and Panasonic, many pdvd members find Panasonic to have better picture quality: color is more natural without saturation, deeper black contrast, and faster and smoother motion flow.

We invite you to visit Sights and Sounds for viewing TVs side-by-side for comparison. Sights and Sounds is located at 4th level Shangri-La Plaza. For other info, please call 634-1789 t0 90 or mobile 0917-5413491.

Hi People, Just joined this group. Like Kicz, I'm also looking for the best LCD TV for under 35k. Went to Trinoma yesterday (23 May) and got lots of quotes from Ansons. Cheapest I got is Sanyo VIZON at 31k (LCD TV only) no freebies. but lookes like they could push it down if CASH !

Any feedback on this VIZON TV? How does it compare to Samsung or Toshiba or Philips of same size? Sony is good but their lowest 32" is 35k. Please give me advice before I use up my hard earned dough. Thanks  :) June

Hi Sir Vic,

Thanks for that quick reply. I thought SANYO is a Japanese brand and Vizon is their trademark for this series of LCD TV's (model LCD-32CA8Z). I asked again and the salesman says he could push down the price to P28k if cash. I've also seen the other brands on display and this one seems comparable but the salesman says the demo clip (animated Madagascar cartoon) is not even HDMI.

Any inputs on this one? Again,  Thanks in advance.

June

Kindly PM me also on deferred payment schemes too, say 6 to 12 months. Thanks

When shopping for TV, don't be attracted to a TV that looks good on an animated movie with vibrant high resolution picture. When you bring home the set, you will soon discover that its picture quality bears little resemblance to the way it looks at the store. We suggest you bring some of your favorite DVDs with you to see how they look on the TVs you’re auditioning.  Sometimes a good TV that looks good with graphics will look fuzzy on a movie with dark scene and in fast motions.

It’s hard to shop for a TV without honest to goodness assistance from the shop.  The smaller stores sometimes may provide the knowledge and attention better than the big appliances store. In a big retail chain, you may not be able to audition your own movies on a TV; at a smaller specialty store, you probably can.

Sent you pm.
