200 x P300 is already P60K, di ba?

Then the 56k might just be right.  :)

Did she mean 200 DVDs = P56K?  I thought she meant P56k is merely the statement balance?

She didn't mention the principal, interest, or payments already made.  But most cardholders would rather not know...  it's too depressing ... :'(

My name is Chino and I'm a recovering DVD addict...

Thats good to say. I started DVD collecting around the end of 2006 and have at least 340 tittles. INCLUDING A LOT I HAVEN'T WATCHED.

When I started collecting all was fine and well. I mean, I'm young, I have no place to spend my money. But as times grew and more things added onto my shoulders (other interests, "monthsary" gifts), I just realized that DVD buying made me low on cash most of the time.

I really, really had to stop. So now, I've made a promise not to buy anymore DVDs till I finish the 25 or so I haven't watched. That oughta buy me some time to save and regain some cash. (I cheat sometimes, but its not as compuslive as before. I swaer.).  ;D

But unfortunately I have other bad addictions too (nothing illigal off course). Some sad and rather embarassing addictions...for a guy at least.  :D :D :D

hmmm... i didnt want to buy any from the SALE today. i already resisted the temptation to buy the Planet Earth boxset from Astro Festi.

went to odyssey and saw Surf's Up, been wanting to buy this for my kids. and so i bought the boxset.

then went back to Asro, i could not resist the Superbit sale at P175. paid for it already until a saleslady offered DH4.0 and Narnia at P199s... aaaaahhhhhh!!!

stop the SALE!!! hehehe ???

I used to collect 18k and 24k gold stuff like coins, ballpens, bracelets, pendants, rings, chains, etc.  They're very nice to hold and fondle.  Same with 1/18 AutoArt, MiniChamps and Kyosho die-cast model cars.  Very exquisite to the touch and the eyes.  I also used to collect different cellphones - each is something you can play around with all day.   ;D

But DVDs?  My goodness,  what is there to fondle?  Slinky amaray cases and rotting discs?  They can't be appreciated on their own, I have to play each one on myHT system to appreciate my collection - something I have no time after I've watched it once.  But maybe just the steelbooks and special extended editions.  But then I soon realized I was collecting because of the nice packages, not the contents.  ;D

He he  ;D  Just rationalizing how I stopped this silly DVD collection frenzy.   ;D  Everytime I look at those 300+ legit DVDs gathering dust on a shelf in my room, I can't help realize I have a worthless set of junk.

Time to outgrow this....and move on.

To Blu-Ray.  ;D

He he, ganun din yun ;D  Same banana.

That sounds just about right. Still...

I'm curious, what kind of DVDs do you get? Genres?

Mostly Zombie / horror / comedy.. those kind of films..

Frankly, i have no idea how i ended up with that kind of "dvd debt" (hehe)

It's ok to have a big DVD collection as long as you still enjoy it or as you're saying...Alex...time to move on, to the next level. ;D

DVDs are like a security blanket to me. Hard to explain but there's an innate need to purchase. Otherwise whenever I visit the mall with my family, la na among ibang mapupuntahan. A/V shops are the main attractions  for me everytime I mall.  ;D

That's just fine, Paul.  The first sign of a cure is acknowledging you have a problem.

But before that comes the denial stage.  ;D

No problem.  HD is still in its early years.  You can start suspecting you have an addiction when your collection reaches 700 blu-rays.  ;D

There is such a thing as "Compulsive Buying Disorder" ("CBD"), the medical term for which is "Oniomania".  It's similar to (but different from) OCD Hoarding.

You don't seem to have the disorder, but you at least have some understanding about how the compulsive ones feel about the urge to shop.  Be thankful you don't have CBD.

Do we have any clinical psychologists in the house?  I'm fascinated by the subject.

Compulsive shopping disorder: It's no joke
By Pat Curry • Bankrate.com

In June of 2006, Betty Jean Barachie of Kunkletown, Pa., was sentenced to 27 months in prison for embezzling $1.5 million over eight years from the credit union where she was a branch manager. She used the money to buy, among many, many other things, hundreds of pairs of shoes, more than 3,000 books, 58 coats, 16 chain saws and a $25,000 John Deere tractor.

A psychologist called as a witness at her trial testified that she was a compulsive shopper.

Oniomania sweeping nation
By: Nick A. Davis (Staff Reporter)
Issue date: 3/2/01 Section: News

"... Shopping addiction isn't a joke," Turnbull said. "One in seven people are hooked on spending and buying merchandise they probably will never use. Most of them are women. It's a coping mechanism for them. No demographic group is immune."

Oniomania, now that's the word for the day.  For a while I thought it was a mania for onions.  ;D  He he, wikipedia has it from the word onios = "For Sale" and mania = insanity.

OK, so we're not addicts, just oniomaniacs.   Now I don't know which is worse.  ;D  Maniakis pala tayo.  ;D

 ;D ;D ;D

I've not viewed a DVD and not opened my DVD drawer for a week now.

But I'm still regularly visiting pdvd  :D

Boy, I wonder how long can I keep this going, I'm trying to shift my interest from DVD's back to Video games again.
It's hard.

Truth of the matter is, logging-in at Pdvd is more addictive than buying DVD's or whatever hobbies you might have. I do not know if it is healthy but I am more eager to visit this site rather than my personal emails.  ???

How about another site for PDVDA?  ;D

Now that you've said it.
I think so too, yeah logging into pdvd is addictive.

I notice that I log in and after browsing through the different threads I log out.
Then I check all my mails, after that I log into pdvd again.  ???

I was at HMV this week and, after browsing across the whole store for an hour, I didn't get a damn thing.

I already had my hands on the 3-disc editions of Brazil Criterion Collection, Black Hawk Down and American Gangster when I decided that, these weren't worth it.

Oh. Em. Gee.

I don't know what just happened...  :(
