Can anyone help me with Firmware updates for P1500?

I'm trying to update my P1500 BD Player through USB Flash Drive method, pero parang hindi nadedetect ng player yung update pero lumalabas USB connected.  I followed naman yung instructions carefully, walang ibang laman yung flash drive kundi yung uncompressed na update file, I even tried using FAT32 then NTFS, wala pa rin, tagal kung hinihintay madetect ng player yung FW updates pero wala.

Then I tried the CD Method after inserting the CD ineject lang sabi "this disc can not be played".

Defective kaya player ko?

Have you checked the version of your player? Maybe it's already updated with the latest firmware that's why it's not loading? Try downloading the firmware again maybe it's corrupted. What version are you trying to load?

Yes, I checked the version it came with, its dated 2008 and I'm trying to upgrade to the latest version which is dated 090416.  I also downloaded the CD version but it still wont update itself.

Now I'm hesitant to upgrade the FW, because in the course of my research for troubleshooting the FW update, I stumble upon some articles about the latest firmware, they said its defective because after upgrading to it the player wont be able to handle AVCHD or Blu-ray on DVD's anymore.  And I don't really want to loose the player's capability of playing MKV muxed to Blu-ray on DVDs.

But I still want to be able to update the firmware someday if there would be newer firmware that would fix that issue.

Pero unlikely yun, kasi dapat included na lahat dun sa latest, isa pa wala naman binabanggit dun sa website ng Samsung na ganun.

Ang alam ko dapat pwede straight update to 2.4 eh. Pwede mo ba i-try na i-update thru LAN? I'll download the file the try to update my player later. But I'm already running 2.3, so results might be different. But at least we can verify if the file works

Jojitv nakakapagplay ka ba ng MKV muxed to AVCDH Blu-ray on DVD?  Kasi yun yung malaking worry ko baka after the updates the player wont play it anymore.

Try ko thru LAN, pero kasi dami ko pang bubunutin dahil yung router ko malayo sa player na naka setup sa ilalalim nung HDTV.

Nope, I haven't tried playing AVCDH. Just normal BD discs.

Just finished updating my player's firmware using ver 2.4 and it worked. Did you purchase your player from the US? Try to format your flash drive using the BD player. Then try to copy the firmware again.

The update website doesn't say much about it except that it improves playback compatibility. Couldn't say either since I'm not really experiencing problems with my player or discs.

Welcome to the blu world bro.

Regarding the firmware, I always flash my firmware at the time when it's very unlikely for a power failure to happen. Don't try it during storms unles you have a UPS. And better update it thru USB. Updating thru network takes a while and depends on your internet speed.

Sir, you can try and change the setting in the player's menu. Go to Setup / Display Setup / Screen Message. then select Off. See if it helps. By the way, what firmware version are you using?

dati ko rin problem yan, nag update lang ako firmware a long time ago...luma na firmware nung akin, ginagawa ko lang press info sa remote, tapos enter, nawawala naman

Thank you as usual sirs for your help, Will try that later. Haven't updated my firmware yet. weekend na lang usually at night me power interruption (though seconds lang) dito sa place namin.

Updated the firmware to 2.4. was nervewracking and was crossing my fingers for the few minutes while updating. Haven't seen any notable changes yet though.

Changes aren't really that big with these updates. I think the only major change was the BD-Live capability. Other than that, mostly are just better compatibility with some titles and faster load times. So was the problem with the bonusview icon solved by the update?

Yes sir. Thanks!  So far been having the best time with the player, happy i got this player (had a problem getting the sony BD player). At first was adjusting with the loading time. But am amazed with the picture quality. feel like upscaled DVDs don't cut it either. Mahal nga lang ng BDs!!!

One more question to BD 1500 owners. Is the upscaling capability of the player any good? I could not compare since I don't have any other DVD upscaler but am not too satisfied when watching DVDs. Should I buy a separate DVD upscaler? or it would just be the same (considering getting a pioneer upscaler or philips).

You just might be getting used to the clarity of BD. I don't think that getting a separate Pioneer or Philips upscaler will get you the kind of satisfaction you're expecting. Maybe an Oppo or the Toshiba XDE will give you better results, but im not really sure though.

make sure that the firmware you are using to update is for the player you have. meaning if your player is from the US then you should download the firmware update from the Samsung US site. I have experienced the same and when i tried using US as my default country and downloaded from there, gumana na yung firmware update

It won't play my Troy Director's Cut BD so I reckoned it's time to do an update but it seems that Samsung's US site is down.

Can anyone share ver. 2.7 or 2.8 downloads?
