hmm depende siguro sa plan kasi nung nagtanong kami 250 lang daw baka dahil yung ininstall eh 299 dual def lang which is package with the 50mpbs plan....pero muntik na rin kami masingil ng mas malaki kasi sabi nung nakausap namin sa phone for new installation daw 5399 daw initial payment pero nung naginquire uli kami kasi sa site naman eh ang nakalagay eh 4498 lang and this rate was confirm by other customer with newly installed plan after a few discussion 4498 na lang pinabayad sa amin.

It's always best to clarify just to be sure.

Sa amin, we were under Sky Cable GOLD 1100 back then and we wanted to change to DUAL DEF 999. We had one main STB plus an extension STB.

I called Sky Customer Service (381-0000) and sabi nila na box upgrade from SD to HD STB costs 800 per box. 800 x 2 = 1,600 pesos

Medyo nabigla ako when I was initially told by Transmission Specialists Inc. (isa sa mga outsourced contract repair team ng Sky) na the total was 3,200. I asked them again just to make sure and yun.

Thankfully, 1,600 lang sya as stated by customer service.

Now I'm happy that I can enjoy Fox Movies Premium HD instead of yung patapon at basura na Star Movies Philippines (which sunk to rock bottom when FIC Philippines localized the feed too much)

Just a question. :)

Factor ba yung cable signal processing tech (dunno the official term for this) ng TV brands in getting a better PQ ng mga cable channels (lalo na yung sa SD cable channels on an LED TV)?

I mean is it quite true that watching cable on a Sony/Samsung/Toshiba is better than doing this on a KTC/Skyworth/MyView? Wala daw kasing cable signal processing tech sila compared to the more known brands. Supposedly.

Maybe this signal processing tech is applicable sa Analog cable since dadaan ito sa analog tuner ng tv, but with digital cable either in sd or hd sa hdmi/composite naka-kabit, wala nang cable signal processing na dadaan yun sa tv. Unfortunately, pa-phase out na rin ang analog cable. Ang signal processing nasa cable digibox na.

Thanks for the replies Kier and xgh0st12x.

Oh I see. So I guess the new Skyworth digibox by Sky is to blame. I find the colors a little washed out and some SD channels look so bad.

Then again, I don't have issues with the PQ of the HD channels (ABS-CBN HD, Disney HD, etc.). Talo lang kasi puro SD pa rin talaga mga channels and it's awful on LEDs (I have a Tosh and a KTC) with the new Skyworth digibox.

Is it not the same with the older, bigger digiboxes they used to install?

yung additional 2x STB ko hindi nilagyan ng SPECTRUM Isolator nung Technician,  I asked bakit wala pwede naman daw (pero I know it's for "isolation/protection" so I googled what it is for and I got this

"The Cable Isolator blocks DC and low frequencies while allowing RF signals 5 – 1000 Mhz.  Used in most major cable tv CATV systems to protect against electrical surges and shock hazards. Passes 5MHz. – 1GHz.

Question:
1) yun mga STB/DigiBox nyo meron ba lahat???
2) may effect ba yun sa TV?
3) should I demand for it?
isip ko kasi kung masira man yung STB ehh they will replace it for free naman.

If you have 2 or more digibox, may splitter ka na, those splitters also serve as an spectrum isolator filter, check mo sir yung splitter mo, may 5mhz-1000mhz naka print.

Pag more than 2 Digibox ang naka-install per connection, kelangan ba sya lagyan ng Amplifier/Signal Booster?

ahh OK, I got it ;) Salamat hindi naman kasi pinaliwanag sa akin nung Technician nung nagtanong ako,  basta sabi ehh pwede na.  They should know better and must be able to explain it to the customer dahil sila ang "expert".

meron ako nakita dati sa ACE hardware powered splitter/booster,  I assumed it was for Analog signal not sure kung pwede pang digital,  size was about the charger of a cellphone or even smaller.

Pang analog cable tv nga yun sir, yung nasa ace hardware. Hmmm, Baka naman pwede, mayron pa ako nun, nabili ko sa RadioShack dati nung analog pa cable tv ko.

BTW -  29 HD Channels ang hindi ko na ma-access after 20-days from install date (NOT Included in DualDef 549) kaya I was so happy parang binigyan lang ako ng "free" access for a limited time dahil I'm a new subscriber,  wala naman sinabi yung Technician na merong additional HD Channels kaya hindi ko alam kung nagkamali lang sa pag setup or talagang dinagdagan.
THANK YOU nalang sa patikim  :) and in all honesty,  na mi-miss ko yung mga nawalang HD-Channels
napapaisip tuloy ako kung mag a-ala carte ako  ;)

Yes sir, that's the promo of sky ever since may hd sila ata. Basically, it's their desire that you will be able to see and test the other HD channels and will leave you missing them after. :) Marketing strategy.

Yes, I requested for ala carte of Fox Sports 2 HD during the MLB Playoffs. I requested it for a month, sakto naman automatic din siya nawala without me having to call and cancel it. Tapos nung a week ata bago ako mag 1 month, napasama din yung Fox Sports 1 HD, I'm not sure if pinagsasama na nila yun.

Yes sir.  Ganun din sa amin.  2 tvs pa.  Akala ko nga din nung una, nagkamali din.  Yun pala patikim nga.  Sarap nga mag channel surf nun, dami HD channels...

yung 1st 2x STBs ko merong 29-additional HD-Chs pero yung sumunod na 2x STBs wala na,  kaya sa Living at Master's BRoom lang ang wan-to-sawa,  good enough  ;)
mahirap din masyadong marami,  wala akong matapos panuorin kawawa ang remote!

Why is it good news? To you maybe, but not to me. Yun uaap hd and all the live tennis atp hd matches mawala. Unless all of these will show in fox sports.
