The TVIX M-4100SH is selling for slightly less than P20K at Villman and it already includes a 400GB HDD. It is also being offered for 12mos/0% plan. With the latest firmware update it plays 1080p/24Hz files with no problems.

Hmm, lots of pros and cons here.  I've been playing around with the Popcorn Hour MKV player and a HTPC Vista/MCE setup and overall, I still prefer the HTPC.  But it's not a clear cut thing as I do like the sheer simplicity (relative) of using an MKV player.

But this is best left to another thread.  Check out the PCH thread mentioned above.

My workflow requirements is such.

1) BitTorrent download support
2) Ability to play all video files available from BitTorrent
3) .RAR & .ZIP decompression
4) Provision for internal HDD.
5) Small
6) Simple to use
7) Remote Control Driven
8) Minimal power usage
9) Minimal noise creation
10) Must be cheaper than a PC.

Popcorn Hour appears to be able to all these things. For the price being asked it is indeed a bargain.

Yes, I think that's the right answer.

To come up with a better answer, you will have to state a cheaper price.

Saw it at the 2nd floor of the Gilmore mall (the bldg with shakey's).  One of the stores there is selling it (near the laptop accessories place).

The box doesnt say it plays mkv but the manual does.  They dont have a TV to test it though.  I got really tempted but there seems to be a lack of material on the net about it.

It supposedly does play rm and rmvb files.

Let the buyer beware.
