Ano bayan? ;D "Cheap sale" is in our blood na :D

Example lang dto: With the same amount of budget instead of getting 10 BDs (tru import), now we could get 11 BDs locally....same amount spent but getting more BDs. Tama ba? :P

I think that's the theory.

The reality is that depending on the amount of "savings," you end up buying 15 to 20.  ;D ;D

O nga...with the lower price we are tempted to buy more...but in the long term we would have saved a lot!  :-X ;D

uyyy, nice comment from bro Matt .... This might be the "selling point/ticket" for you taking the blu route, eh?  hehehe  ;D

 :D  ;D

Does this mean that Warner Philippines will just be importing Bds from the US & just have them repacked here?

Will these BDs be pressed here?

It will probably be imported from Japan. As I heard, there is only 1 bluray disc factory in the world and its owned by Sony & is in Japan.

CD making machine= 70m pesos
DVD making machine=120m pesos
BLuray machine= :o :o :o m pesos

I met someone who was thinking of putting up a bluray factory here. But he is still thinking about it. $$$

I just hope and pray that WARNER would heed our call. 800 is a great price wherein most early adaptors would agree to get them locally rather than abroad. It would also encourage other BLU willing enthusiats to go bite the bullet ad join the bandwagon. ;D

800 is a reasonable price for bluray, but are these of US quality?

As the Philippines (and the rest of southeast Asia+Japan & Korea) is ths same region A as the US, the BD titles will most likely be simply impoted straight from the US as it would be cheaper/easier that way for movie studios.  More importantly, it's a BIG relief that Warner will now be distributing New Line titles (after NL was folded into Warner) so we can say goodbye to C-Interactive's crappy SD DVD releases :P

If Warner is reading this, it's a bit premature, but launching their Bluray line with Batman Begins 2: TDK would make a big splash.  I remember Firewired saying that Batman (forget which) is their (Warner PH) all time bestseller, so it might make good business sense and a good buena mano (is that double positive? :) ) start to their Bluray line...

In a not so distant future, when higher HD standards are available, we may also be saying "...so we can say goodbye to Blu's crappy HD releases", it's an unending quest to perfection and more SARS!!!  ;D ;D ;D

Video City's Styrofoam display has 10,000 B.C. in DVD and Bluray (display material not the disc).  Does it indicate that Warner had planned (or is still planning) to bring in 10,000 B.C. in Bluray?

That would be false advertising if it wasn't

Other than the type of keepcase used, Warner's R3 packaging for single/double discs is almost identical to their R1 counterparts.

Their boxed set packaging, however, is far bulkier and less attractive than R1.

FrenzyBanana, we're talking Warner Bros. Philippines. ALL their R3 DVD releases are IMPORTED, and 99% have identical features to their R1 counterparts.

I second that. Warner is the closest thing we have to a U.S. counterpart when it comes to the quality of their releases.

That's a moot point on Blu-ray region codes, since The U.S. and the Philippines are both Region A. As far as better sound on R1 vs. R3 DVDs, that's on a title-per-title basis, not a hard rule.
