hi guys,

looks like the owners of the 42pv70 will be salivating on the new 42pv8 and 42pv80, below is a review from one of owners who got the unit equivalent of the 42pv80 (42PX80U) from circuit city ... he says it's better PQ than the Sony XBR

Unbelievable!!!!!!

After shopping in 3 different stores for a 1080p tv. I found this one, and it is 720p. It killed many of the 1080p tv sets including Sony's XBR model. Which I had my heart set on. This tv is incredible. I have been staying up at night just staring at thistv in high def in amazement. Shows like Connan, Leno, & Letterman, our incredible. They look like photographs in a frame, just so sharp and realistic. I really don't think you need a 1080p tv. Nothing is broadcast in true 1080p right now. Save yourself some money, this tv is so sexy.

here's the link if you want to read the rest of the review - http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/ExpandedModule.do?oid=205247&callingModule=9#custRatings

It's good that I was able to held my purchase for the famous 42pv70 ... wait ko na lang 42pv8  ;D ;D ;D

para saken mas maganda kung i-compare yung 428xg kuro and the PV80 or PV8. basta kuro and this one para makita kung natalo na ng panasonic yung pioneer sa black levels. :)

I don't think it's apples to apples in this case ... you can buy two of these for the price of one kuro with some change to spare, but here's a review from customers of pioneer plasma and PV80 doing some comparison -

Great TV for the $$$ can't beat it.

I have A Sony Bravia 40' LCD & Pioneer 60' Plasma and needed another TV for my billiards room. I was fortunate enough to come across a slick deal offering this Panasonic. I think the other 2 TV sets that I have more features, but for the money this set was less than half the price of the Sony and a little less than a quarter price of the Pioneer. All in all a great set with an above picture quality than others that compare. My favorite features are the anti reflective screen, (much better than my Pioneer), and the SD card reader right on the front. I wish I would have purchased another one for my son's room at the sale price @ $862.68, (with online coupon & panasonic 5.1 surround sound package deal), that was offered when I bought my other set. I guess I'll wait for a sale again----

Naka side by side na sa trinoma 508xg pa kalaban. ;) The pv80 showed detail and true color, by the way this unit was also designed by pioneer so a little black was added to the pana. 2008 - merge / 2010 relese of NEO PLASMA (pana+pio). :)

intel ito ha, this info came from panasonic japan when we had a meeting here.

no naman, its no fair kasi w/the 42pv70 it was the best since june 07 last year and has lots of high praises during those days. New tech is always 30% better, you know if your a pc user why go for the old tech when the new one is a lot faster. ;D

Yup, true that sir ;D
To be honest, I am still forging ahead with buying a pv70 'coz of budget & naturally 'coz its cheaper ;D
Maging masakit man isipin na yun lang ang kaya ko, but the possibility of seeing both with my own two eyes is a subjective factor that would either enforce my stand or sway me to a different route altogether :D ;D

by the way the 42p8 is a lot cheaper than the pv80 and has the same specs. wala lang sd card and 2 hdmi input lang, same finish as the pv70.

hehe mukhang careful po kayo sa review ninyo. "Naka side by side na sa trinoma 508xg pa kalaban. ;) The pv80 showed detail and true color,..." you didn't say if it had more or less than the pioneer. hahaha. anyway, it's good to hear that the general public will be able to avail of new technology that has definitely jumped in terms of pic quality. pang mayaman kase yung mga pioneer kuro lines :)
