Does the PV80's AR work or sobrang minimal lang ang tulong ng AR niya?  Ito talaga pinoproblema ko eh.  The C10 is out of the question.  So its either this PV80, if the AR works well enough... or LCD na talaga.

Now that I have a C10, I can appreciate the AR of the PV80. It's safe to say that the AR of the PV80 "works well enough".

Does it work good enough for it to be positioned opposite a window?

Fairly well, I guess, but it still wont match an LCD in this area.

Do you think I should take the plunge and get it for the above usage?  I think I might be able to get my hands on this.

That's hard to say, I need to know just how much light gets thru. However, the PV80 along with the PV8/70 have the least reflection on all my plasma's. They're even less reflective than my PY800.

Thanks but for my purpose I think Plasma is better.  40/40/20 SD TV Broadcast/DVD and SD Divx/HD mkv files.

Yes, plasma will be best for you. If reflectiveness is an issue, then the plasma model with the least reflection would be the 42PV80 and the 42PV70.

If you can still find one then please grab it immediately.

Actually had it reserved already.  Hehe... was there when the guy who reserved it was trying it out against the C10.  Luckily, he chose the latter.

I found another shop who has it also.  I think older stock na kaya masmahal na benta.

PV80 / C10 compared

Front input access (composite, s-video, HDMI, SDHC slot, earphone, manual controls) w/ cover
C10 has it on the side but w/out the cover and S-video

Anti-reflective filter (gone in C10)-pretty helpful in brightly/mid lit rooms
Durability/Built (in my opinion PV80 is better)
Looks (i prefer PV80, i love the reflective arch beneath the screen, and the sharper corner, looks classy)

Affordability (C10)(but why???hmm) I believe newer model means new technology and bit pricy
DynamicContrast (C10) 2,000,000:1 compared to 1,000,000:1 in PV80
Subfield Refresh rate (600hz for C10)(480hz for PV80)

Just sharing.... ;)

Because the X10 is the 2009 equivalent of the PV80 while the C10 is to the PV8.

Newer model = better tech = more expensive?

Not always.  The newer ones have better tech but are usually cheaper.

My first DVD player was purchased about 9 years ago for P15,500, and it was the lowest-end Pioneer DVD player at the time.

My first plasma TV was purchased less than 3 years ago for P120,000, the lowest-end 42-inch Panny Viera at the time.  Regular retail price was about P160,000.

The first 42-inch plasma Vieras in the Philippines retailed for about P250,000.  The first plasma TV I ever saw was displayed at a mall, size was about 50" (I don't remember the exact size), price tag was about P990,000.

good evening sa pdvd, im currently working in riyadh, im planning to buy flatpanel im choosing between pana 50pv80 (hd ready) or sony 40s550 (full hd), the price pana is 4,600.00 riyal while sony is 4,170.00 riyal. (convertion 1riyal = 12.00pesos), is it advisable to buy pana pv80 even if the new trend or tech is full hd, pang movie lang naman, and my current dvd player is the old pio 626. do i need to buy a new dvd upscaler? tnx

IMHO if you have a mid sized to big room, go for the 50 incher.  If you're doing mostly DVD viewing, the PV80 is more than enough for you.

Haha same pala ata tayo ng room size.  HT room ba?

Yup cheaper since old model na... I'm not sure how much sa SnS, but the 50PV80 sa LIS is around 76k ata.

Got one of the last 2 units of PV80 in S&S last Thursday. Actually had the eye for the X10, but fell for PV80 kasi malakas pa din reflectiveness ng X10.

Thanks Sir Vic for addressing the remote control problem at once!

Had to chance to take a glimpse on the G11. Ang ganda ng PQ! Out of reach nga lang talaga price  :(

Nevertheless, we're enjoying our PV80!!!  ;D

Talagang maganda ang 42G11. Parang Pioneer Kuro ang dating. Check out the review of Carlo777.

By the way, thank you for buying TVs from Sights and Sounds.  :D
