ANG TANGING INA NIYONG LAHAT & OTHER MMFF 2008 ENTRIES
« on: Jul 04, 2008 at 02:48 AM »

Just when I thought that ANG TANGING INA was the most hilarious movie title, comes this movie title sequel five years after! ANG TANGING INA NIYONG LAHAT ;D comes as one of the entries in this year's MMFF. Here are the eight entries:

        1. DESPERADAS 2 - a sequel with Eugene Domingo coming along for a ride
            Regal Entertainment
            Screenplay: Roy Iglesias
            Director: Joel Lamangan

        2. Shake, Rattle & Roll X - Recurring theme of the No. 10 in the trilogy
            Regal Entertainment              (e.g. 10 friends, tenth floor,etc.) :-\
Screenplay: Fairlane Raymundo & Cheryl Ann Narvasa
Directors: Topel Lee & Mike Tuviera

        3. ANG TANGING INA NIYONG LAHAT:D ;D :D ;D
            Star Cinema
            Screenplay: Mel del Rosario
            Director: Wenn Deramas

        4. ESCALERA BROTHERS
a.k.a. ESCALERAS AND UNGASIS (20 YEARS AFTER)
- Enteng give way to Iskul Bukol alumni
            Octo-Arts/M-Zet Production
Screenplay / Director: Tony Y. Reyes

        5. BALER - war-time love story formerly called The Siege of Baler ala Pearl Harbor
            Viva Films
            Screenplay: Roy Iglesias
            Director: Mark Meily

        6. ONE NIGHT ONLY - no info yet
            Canary Films

        7. MAGKAIBIGAN - Jinggoy Estrada will star and produce
            Maverick Films

        8. DAYO - first ever animation film included in MMFF history. Urduja, anyone?
            Cutting Edge

        http://tagpuan.com/2008-metro-manila-film-festival-mmff-official-entries/

Unfortunate (or fortunate) entries that did not make it were Canary Films' INOCENCIA, Octo-Arts' HERE COMES THE BRIDE, Focus Films' MALDITA, and an untitled horror movie from Star Cinema.

Desperadas 2?!  :o Oh my! Gagawin na naman nilang kaawa-awa ang mga artista nila by writing and directing a lousy script? Sana naman maayos nila ito this time considering na pinagmukha nilang tanga ang mga artista nila, including those from Bahay Kubo.  Sayang ang kagalingan nila.
Absolutely no regrets!

                                       ISKUL BUKOL: 20 YEARS AFTER
(ADVENTURES OF VIC UNGASIS AND THE ESCALERA BROTHERS)

It was revealed by Vic Sotto during the I-Witness documentary that he wishes to do a reunion movie with the surviving cast members of Iskul Bukol, particularly his co-hosts, Tito Sotto and Joey de Leon. On July 2, 2008, Vic's film production company, M-ZET Films, submitted a script written by fellow cast member Bibeth Orteza,[2] intended for the 2008 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). The entry entitled "Vic Ungasis en the Escaleras" was immediately approved by the MMFF jurors. The title has since been changed to "Escalera and Ungasis: 20 Years After," which will chronicle the events that transpired in the two decades since the TV series, when the Escalera brothers and Ungasis have graduated from Wanbol University. Tagasa already agreed to reprise her role as Miss Tapia while other actors will be cast for Tonette Macho and Mang Temy. Anthony Roquel, who plays Tonette Macho, has retired from acting and is now part of GMA-7's production staff while Bing Angeles (Mang Temy) passed away in 2001.

The movie's title was changed again to "Iskul Bukol: 20 Years After" in order to gain strong audience recall, owing its large fanbase to people who grew up in the '70s and '80s watching the TV show. Below is the confirmed cast members of the movie, which was already touted as the biggest movie of the triumvirate.

Cast of Characters:

Tito Sotto as Tito Escalera
Vic Sotto as Vic Ungasis
Joey de Leon as Joey Escalera
Mely Tagasa as Miss Tapia -  :) :):)
Ryan Agoncillo as Cambodian tour guide
Keempee de Leon
Pauleen Luna
Mark Herras
Dennis Trillo
Gian Sotto
Oyo Sotto
Jimmy Santos -  :)
Jose Manalo - :-\
Francine Prieto
Gardo Versoza
Bianca King
Jong Hilario
Krista Ranillo
Benjie Paras
Joko Diaz
Nicole Uysiengsu
Mykah
Val Sotto - :)
Richie D'Horsie - :)
Kaye Torres
Robert Villar
Redford White - :)
Bibeth Orteza - :) :) :) She used to play Vic's cousin Bilibeth.
Carlene Aguilar -  ??? :P
Wally Bayola
Joonee Gamboa
Jackie Woo
Derek Dee
Leo Martinez
Levi Ignacio
Mary Massab -  :) Has been a semi-regular of the show.
EB Babes -  ??? ??? ???

Special Participation in the Movie:

Sharon Cuneta
Sen. Bong Revilla
Manny Pacquiao -  ???

Whew! Very long subtitle. And a plethora of Dabarkads, what else? I just hope the other cast (e.g. Bibeth Orteza) will play the same roles as in the TV show. Will they also always stay in a canteen eating generic sandwich and sipping an 8oz. of Coke? ;D

Wow, the upcoming movie truly lives up to its title. Ogie as a full-blooded woman! I hope Regine is not insecure.

You're welcome simonzaide. The series gets tired eventually then there's the awful AKO LEGAL WIFE which is supposedly the 'fourth' in a series.

Looks like Vic is reprising his role in CROCODILE JONES: THE SON OF INDIANA DUNDEE (1990) as well as copying from recent successes of NATIONAL TREASURE series.

Hopefully the movie is way better than its trailer. I have some hope in the movie since it was scripted by Bibeth Orteza.

Likewise, ANG TANGING INA N'YONG LAHAT trailer resorts to the usual Star Cinema moviescenes and even borrowing one for FLOR CONTEMPLACION. MAID IN MANHATTAN anyone?

I hope maganda ang Dayo or Baler. Those are the only films I'm even considering spending money on. Desperadas 1 was really bad! And you know how sequels are not as good as the first? Though i can't imagine how it could it could be worse! I would definitely stay away from the sequel.I miss the days when they would show Jose Rizal or Muro Ami or even Tanging yaman. Columnist Nestor Torre, I think suggested 2 filmfest in December. One for kids and another for art films

TANGING INA NYO LAHAT!

Title pa lang natatawa na ako. :)

I enjoyed this a lot more than I was expecting. It was impossibly CORNY, but the nostalgia factor trumped that.

What I did notice, though, was that on the big screen, it looked like it was... shot on video and then just transferred to film? Is this standard these days?

Liwayway Gawgaw...   ;D

Hmm, got me into thinking. My friend is deadset on watching at least one entry in this year's MMFF. Anyway, this is my top choice if ever I will see one this year. I have 'yet' to see what Liwayway Gawgaw means Mr. Hankey. :)

i saw one night only and magkaibigan.  they are actually good films. bawi na si joey reyes sa disastrous when love begins and monster mom niya.  :D

will try to catch other films, too. kung sana lang mayro'n tayong indie film festival na hindi hinahaluan ng foreign films at nasa mga malls, i'm sure tatangkilin din ng mga manonood.  it is overwhelming to see pinoys flocking to see pinoy movies (pangit man o maganda) despite the marked-up price especially in megamall (PhP170 per film!).
