Almost done deal na nga po si Sonny E, thanks to the owner. ( one lang po...hindi dalawa at hindi kaya ng powers ko ang stereo subs + LFE )

Kidding aside, the 200w @ 4 ohm rating of the Esprit amp is only good while set at stereo mode. So, out of the question na po ang mono amp ( 8 ohm rating ) for Maggie. Hay, salamat naman...

I cannot imagine having to tinker with stereo subs at the moment considering the complexity of getting them to sound right.

For now, back to the few panels to be added to my little room...

And if I get lucky, a tube buffer and a tube cdp in the near future.

i use a Behringer DCX2496 to control stereo subs

even if you use pure direct, you get the benefit of using subs in stereo.

it has built in crossovers/EQ's

Thanks bro mike...i was thinking of getting the behringer dsp1124p as suggested by users of REW. But I am taking my time just in case nga I get advise from members here who are more experienced with subs.

You think i should use the DCX2496? I can check lang if it works with REW also...

the price of the DCX2496 is multiples of the BFD ... it is easier to use and more flexible though.
(flexible in the sense that you can use it for the two mains + stereo subs and the LFE channel)

i tried the REW+BFD combo myself, but gave up when i read the instructions on the BFD.
i got the SMS-1 instead ... and changed to the AS-EQ1 because i needed more measuring points.

so i've never actually used the DCX2496 to EQ an LFE sub (only added EQ boosts to the LCR channels and LCR subwoofers)

am still inclined to pursue our original plan. will start next month na siguro. sobrang baon lang sa dami ng trabaho. but definitely next month will start to do this.

Update Sept 13, 2009

I have been thinking about upgrading my cdp and thanks to a wonderful neighbor-seller, I finally got a chance to own this Cayin CDT17A with upgraded Mundorf caps and opamps. I'm so happy with it's performance. This is my very first tube cdp...

After a week's test on the Esprit amp, well, I guess it was expected that I will be keeping it as it's 4 ohm rating makes my Maggies perform better. So now, it is officially an alvinh room resident.

To somehow insert an MF X10D between my ipod dock and Aikido preamp was also an itch for a while so I took the opportunity.

What i was not expecting was to get hold of an MF X10v3. Truly another great addition.

I am looking forward to try a set of some well reviewed ic's and cables...and some tubes for new flavor.

I'll resume the panel project after this unexpected route.

Nag reroute lang saglit bro Jake...sulit kasi. When I got the maggies, I was already set to find an amp and cdp that will compliment it. Nadamay lang yung tube buffers coz kawawa naman si ipod...the deal was too good to pass.

Ma-delay lang a little yung panels but I can probably still work on the front wall. Konti na lang naman panels 'to.

I also have to get a new 1Tera...no more space talaga...Uy, the cabinet on your PM sounds interesting.
