From Alan Ball (Six Feet Under) comes this weekly HBO series based on the Southern Vampire Mysteries books by Charlaine Harris.

True Blood takes place in the fictional small town of Bon Temps, Louisiana, where humans and vampires live out an uneasy co-existence after a Japanese-made synthetic blood called "TruBlood" becomes widely available.

Anna Paquin stars as Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress who becomes attracted to one of the vampires (Stephen Moyer).

The series will premiere on September 7, 2008, with Ball writing and directing the pilot episode. A rough version of the pilot has already been leaked online though...

The version of the pilot I saw ended with the two thugs beating up Anna Paquin. Are there other versions?

I fell asleep while watching so I didn't get to finish it. I hope it turns out to be better than Moonlight.

Not sure how many versions of the pilot are circulating online, but it did get some mixed reviews, so HBO might still tweak it for the actual broadcast.

As for Moonlight, Alan Ball made this snarky comment about that show: "I think it's pretty lame when you let your vampire go out in the day just because you don't want to shoot at night."

Just saw the first episode. Looked like a good story with the coming-out-fo-the-coffin vamps now mingling with humans story. Medyo bitin lang.

Significant cast change for Sookie's friend. From Latina to Black. I much preferred the actress in the pilot, she was more believable as the biyatch with bad social skills.

The first season ended this week with a very satisfying episode and a very intriguing cliffhanger. This is officially one of my favorite shows right now. Can't wait for summer next year.

I seriously didn't think Paquin would shed anything on the show. Like the token actress that won't drop trou because the rest of the no name co-stars have shown enough already.

Ahhh...it's good to know that I'm not the only one who loves this show coz of the gratuitous amount of mammary shown.

I like Sookie's tits but that Latina waitress and Jason's last gal pal are the true hotties. Hehehe

CAn't wait for Season 2. Bitin at 12 episodes lang first season. I really like their take on the vamps.

HBO Asia has already started showing teaser ads for True Blood...we can probably expect them to ~~butcher~~ air the series by February 2009.

maganda yung opening billboard nila...very sensual and intriguing... but the actual show is kinda soap-y...tsaka baduy yung sound effect nila pag lalabas na yung fangs...but all in all very interesting.

I hope Ryan Kwanten's character's "conversion" does not mean he will not be nude in this season.

I still love the scene where he had blisters on his pee pee for using it too much.

S2ep11 was incredibly crappy. crappy enough that if ep12 isn't lightyears better ... i'm not watching anymore.

I was seriously turned off by the last 3 episodes or so, parang nagiging comedy na ata, but not turned off enough to make me want to tune out. I'm still looking forward to the finale. Hope next season's a lot better.
