you won't regret buying the e-great 31B. i've already been using the unit with my HT for about two weeks now since i bought it from ehome. it works really great with my 500 gig internal drive and 500 gig external MyBook drive while networked to my home pc. problem is i would have to go back to ehome one of these days to load some new movies to my internal drive. 

@gren, does the package come w/ an optical cable and manual? the package i got (31B + 500gig internal) didn't include these two items. got the manual online though and currently switching my optical cable between the x360 and the 31B. thanks.

According to my bro-in-law who owns one, there's no slow access with his 1 TB internal HDD. hope this helps.

Hindi na nga 1TB ang nasa isip ko... it's which NAS to get so I can consolidate all the stuff.  2TB in PC 1 TB in TViX, 1TB WD USB...hay buhay

Go for an EMC SAN :-) I loook forward to the day that flash drives capacity and pricing gets into commodity range. :-)

In my case, I have two external cases that fits 2 x 1TB each. The brand is NexStar and got if from Octagon PC stores for Php 2.9k each. I also have another NexStar single HD external case that also have eSATA...

Here's another additional consideration... if it's just an internal drive like 1TB, it should not be slow start-up.

However, when you also connect an external drive and have to do and select medium, it takes a few minutes more for the NMT to scan through the titles for each of the additional drives. In my case, since I use a NexStar dual SATA hard drives casing, the NMT, scans through the drives during hard power-up.

The big advantage of this model is that it has a USB slave, which means that you can plug it to your PC and manipulate the files through the PC.

It also has a USB port at the back so cabling is neater. Ang Popcorn 100 kasi ay nasa harap lang ang USB port.

Response is much faster than before. I think that's mainly cuz of the firmware update.

Start-up time is still slow. Parang PC sya.

Now you can switch it off. Popcorn 100 kasi, walang Off button. Standby lang.

The remote is better. Ganda shape nya - more ergonomic. Piano finish. But basically, the remote still sucks. The play/pause/stop buttons should have different shapes. It's very easy to press the stop and then that's the end of you kasi wala syang Resume. Hahanapin mo kung saan ka nag-stop.

For me, the biggest problem is the noise of the fan. Maingay. I sit about 7 feet from the unit and at that distance, tolerable na ang noise. If you sit maybe 3 feet away, it's really noisy.

Overall, its pretty good. But if you are seated close to it, it's way too noisy.

And by the way, the movies were great! No stutters. No drop-outs. A lot of detail. Jaw-dropping. "

Pre, the medyo lugi yata yung popcorn when you compare the eg-m31B to the A100. Some advantages you posted are also fround in the new A110 of popcorn hour. A110 already has a USB slave located at the rear as well. The power button though sa egreat is nice kasi yung pch A110 wala pa ding ganun. I really dont like leaving the power on. By the way, saan ba located yung power button? sa harap or sa likod? Tnx

Alam ko naman that luma model ang A100 and it is better to compare the egreat 31b with the A110. Pero wala naman akong A110, e. I wasn't doing a theoretical comparison, based on specs. I was comparing based on actual experience, which is really what I prefer to do.

Power switch is sa likod.

Any decision yet what HDD to get?
Just want to add that after selecting my titles off the partial list, it's very easy to fill-up 1Tera. I came close to over 900G...and that's just an estimation.

Advise lang mga Bro based on experience.

Sa dami nyong nakapila, the fastest way to prepare your drives is to copy them straight (500GB or 1000GB).  Walang pili-pilian muna.  I was actually surprised to read that Gren can finish 1TB in about 4 hours.  It's possible with sustained copy speed of about 66MB/sec via eSATA, but then full format palang ng 1TB HD, 4 hours na halos. 

Tapos if you want any other particular titles or if you want to delete any title you dont need, then I think you have to do it individually, on your own time,  by visiting the shop again once you get your NMT.
