Geren,

Can you kindly help pm to me where I can get the right 8400GS card. I checked this pm at Park Square IT shops and they're not sure if the 8400GS cards they sell can handle SLI configurations. I saw one shop that can sell the card at almost 2k but they're unsure if that will work with the Aspire default video card.

TIA!

I forgot the name of the shop where i bought mine. I bought mine at Virra Mall. The unit in the pic looks the same as the one i bought and very near the price that i paid for at P 1800.00. I believe all nvidia 8400 GS low profile will work with the x3200. Be sure that it comes with the adapter for the low profile unit. P.S. Also saw a red colored 8400 GS with adapter for low profile. They should work fine.

TomE, naalala ko nung nagupdate ako from device manager dun ko naencounter itong problem sa HDMI audio.. kaya ni-rollback ko lang din from device manager.. ok na ulit yung HDMI audio... pero nagmanual update pa rin ako using latest drivers downloaded from Nvidia site.. ayun ok na.. updated na yung drivers, tpos ok pa rin yung HDMI audio.. tingin ko lng may problem kung sa device manager ka nagupdate...

According to my wife (she was the last one to use the X3200 before it lost its audio), the audio was lost after an "update of something"; she wasn't sure what it was daw.

I was able to rollback the Nvidia already via the Device Manager but still no audio through hdmi.

Why don't you guys admit to yourself that this acer is not an all in one machine.  Mag-buo na lang kayo ng gaming setup para di kayo kinululit ng mga anak ninyo.  Sige kayo, magtuturo yan ng kung ano-anong nabili ninyo (using the kids as the excuse) baka mapansin ni es-mi, lalo kayong malintikan.   ;D

Agree with you Vojie....was at various PC shops in Gilmore earlier today, and the verdict was World AT War can be played flawlessly with a DDR3 utilizing Video card and the cheapest available (but really approximates the price of the 9 series) is the 8800GT.

So far, DDR3 starts with the 9500, but still what they recommend is the 9600 GSO or GT.
Only problem though is that you should have a bigger watt capacity for your PC somewhere in the 550watts, so far the cheapest is Hec at 2.8K.

So I guess, this concludes that the Acer cannot be upgraded to the 9500, since it's another power hungry video card, and we better resign ourselves that this is a good enough HTPC....well...maybe until we need to upgrade to bluray. ;)

....but then...that'll be another day. :D

TomE, bka nawala lng sa default yung HDMI audio... nung una rin ksi di ko mapagana yun, kasi wala yung HDMI audio sa realtek control panel.. yun pala maset mo lang as default yung HDMI audio sa Sound properties ng control panel ng windows (or kung KMplayer gamit mong media player, makikita mo yun as one of the choices sa Audio renderer)... dapat 4 choices makita mo dun Sound properties ng control panel: HDMI audio, Speakers, Realtek HD Audio 2nd outout (headphones) at yung Realtek Digital output.. dun maset mo na as default yung HDMI audio... pero kung 3 na nga lng yung choices dun, at wala yung HDMI audio, at wala pa din after mo magrollback, try mo na lng magupdate ng latest whql drivers ng Nvidia (ver 178.24)... sa ngayon, mula nung nagupdate ako, wala pa naman akong nkitang problema dun sa latest drivers ng nvidia.

Gren, have you installed the Activision's Call of Duty World At War with your Aspire X3200 ?  ???

If so, were you able to play it and at what level ?

Thanks for your info, but as of now, the Datablitz and Accent Micro people advised otherwise. :-\

Really would appreciate info from someone who is playing it with his X3200. :P

Call of Duty 4 FPS on Acer X3200 with 8400GS (Boost Performance Set)

Manual Settings

Anti aliasing= 2x
Ave = 25fps

1024x768

Yeah...right. :P

#2 If so, were you able to play it and at what level ?
Guess, you indirectly answered,(something easily cut & paste from whatever forum. ::)...... but let me tell you World at War is Call of Duty 5, and Call Of  Duty 4 is Modern Warfare, you could have fooled us if you bother to edit your post)
You see there's nothing wrong in admitting you have not, since we just all want to share our experience in improving our wares and a  simple yes or no would have sufficed. :P

I'm sorry if you feel my post was meant to fool you. That was never my intention. I merely posted the figures to give you an idea of how the unit performs with regards to playing Call of Duty with an 8400GS. That is why i indicated Call of Duty 4 on my post. I was assuming that the system requirements for the game would not be much different between COD4 and COD5.

Secondly, the figures i posted were personally recorded based on the available game i have, and not through Cut and Paste as you have presumably thought so.

Geren, apologies accepted and thanks for your clarification.

I actually appreciate the posts here in the Acer thread and am learning from it, thus, my question, however, my experience (in fact while installing the COD-WAW) is far different from your post that's the reason for the clarification, anyway, hope it's all water under the bridge.  ;)

....and keep on posting. ;D

Chess, what you have right now is a very good test data because it's very high bitrate but very efficient encode. So this weekend, try it with MPC + FFDshow + AC3Filter on your Acer.  Kung di kakayanin yung test data mo with that player set-up, walang magagawa.   But good luck!!!

Upgraded my unit to 4GB and installed the 8400GS... will be doing the HD upgrade this weekend...  ::)

Still trying to re-assess whether it is worth the risk to try to upgrade from dual-core to tri-core or quad-core CPU equivalent...

Jackryan,

However, I suspect that our units can handle a major upgrade judging from how the same model is configured for other international markets ---

So based on this, it seems that the only quad-core CPU "fit" for our X3200 is this particular AMD CPU ---

If you check AMD's comparative table, this shows that both CPU quad-core models above are only requiring 65watts

Chess this is like d**ned if you do d**ned if you dont situation Bro.   If you want to play games with your machine, the most "effective" option is a low profile 9500GT which is probably like $100, instead of hybrid SLI with a 8400 or 8500.  Would anyone be willing to spend an extra 5K pesos to play games?   Ang masakit nito, you can buy a very powerful full size graphics card like an HD3870 for about $100 now. - and there's the question of whether the supplied PSU has enough juice to power a 9500GT.

BTW, I dont think any graphics card would solve the issue with that "heavy sample".
