Woke up today to a huge NBA trade: Iverson's going to Detroit in exchange for Billups and McDyess!  :o  I don't know what to make of the moves made by either team.  But historically, Joe Dumars has proven that he knows what he's doing, except maybe getting Kwane Brown.  ;)
We deserve better.

Looks like Joe dumars surprise a lot of of people just like Lakers did when they acquired Gasol.

One conclussion for me here Joe Dumars will be in the forefront once Lebron James contract expire with Cavs on 2010.

But will this new roster of Detroit be able to win the Eastern conference (A rematch of 2004 NBA finals might be possible this 2009 NBA finals LA Lakers/Detroit Piston, another payback time for my LA Lakers)

or darko, let's not forget him  :)

i think, for dumars, it's a win-now-with-iverson, win-later-with-stuckey trade. plus as darth-rye says it clears up cap space to pursue lebron in 2010 (get in line, joe).

for denver, it's let's-share-the-ball-more basketball.

for melo,it's give-me-the-f'ing-ball!

steal by the pistons!

galing talaga ni joeD, forget AI, even AI got injured on the way to detroit it doesnt matter.. as you've read it already... AI and Sheed's salary will come off the book next year.. that's 30M salary cap relief... if JoeD plays his cards right and we know he will, detroit can have a starting lineup of stuckey, rip, lebron, maxiel and bosh in 2011

Wow......27 pts and 16 rebs by Memphis' Marc Gasol vs the Warriors.   Makes me rethink the Pau Gasol trade.

But then again, these are Nellie's Warriors.  Every big men should have a heydey against Nellie's small ball line-up.

One thing going against this is HISTORY.  More often than not, when a franchise player gets traded, they're shipped to the opposite conference, especially so if the original team is also a contender.

Correct! Although one exception i can think was Luis Scola from Spurs to Rockets. Not just same western conference but same division as well.

Maybe Lebron or d-Wade only. Having Bosh will be too much unless they all take huge pay-cut and definitely it wont happen.

Free agency = Big Fat contracts!  $$$$$$$$

(21M AI, 13M sheed) can be when it comes off the book by next year...

I'm sorry I'm not familiar with some of the players.  Is Scola already a franchise player? i should follow the games more.

I was thinking along the lines of

Milwaukee to Los Angeles - Jabbar
Philadelphia to Los Angeles - Chamberlain
Minnesota to Boston - Garnett
Los Angeles to Miami - Shaq

you know, players that makes instant contenders to the receiving team that would provide additional hurdle to the original team's own championship quest. of course, there are exceptions, that's why i didn't discount the possibility just pointed out the precedent.

Houston's Ron Artest came from Sacramento and I'd like to think he was the franchise player then for the Kings.

Steve Nash, although not considered Dallas' franchise player then, was shipped back to Phoenix and man did he and D'Antoni make the Suns fun to watch and a contender to boot.

Your correct voj!

Thats why i love NBA! 2009 season is barely a week old and already big time player movement made by the pistons. Other eastern team will likely follow suit.

Celtics will surely find their hands full just defending their Eastern conference title much more Their NBA title.

Steve Nash won the NBA MVP on his first year back with the suns and the next year also. Making him in league with MJ,Russel,Chamberlain,Jabbar,Magic,Bird,Duncan,M.Malone, in winning back to back MVP and hopefully Kobe will join them this year...he-he!  ::)

Oh yeah.

He has his  Olympic Gold Medal already....

He got his MVP.

He got three rings.

Now, to complete his hardware, he needs to win another championship ring...sans Shaq.

Wow...Spurs being blown out at home.

In danger of being buried in an 0-3 hole of a start.

Amare
FG: 18-22
FT: 11-11
Rebs: 10
Assists: 6
Blocks: 4
Stls: 2
Pts: 47

Vs Indiana and the game is not yet over.

I guess its a big thanks to Shaq now playing the Center position for the Suns. Amare moved to his natural power forward position and getting more comfortable with it.

Secondly, i think Indiana doesn't have a match-up for amare thats why his wreacking havoc. Lets wait for them to play Houston. Still very impressive!

I didn't see the game but maybe more of the second (at least for this particular game). Looking at the box scores Shaq only played 12 minutes so he probably didn't have a lot to do with Amare's stat line.

I am not just refering on this particular game but since shaq was traded to Suns they got a big man that can cover the center position. And Amare able to moved at power forward position which i thinks he is more comfortable rather than playing the teams center position during pre-shaq time. Just my observation.

Cant wait for them to match-up with my LA lakers (Nov.20)

Amare scoring 49 points on 18-22 shooting has more to do playing against Indiana big stiffs like Troy Murphy and Jeff Foster...... ;D ;D

Still pretty impressive though.
