Hi guys. ayaw na mag-on ng wdtv ko. i haven't encountered any problems prior to this. Meron na ba naka experience nito with their player? Upgraded sya to pre release FW 01 02 07. Just bought it last february at logitech. Tried unplugging everything, talagang ayaw nang mag-on. Buti na lang may 1 year warranty.

yeah... maybe it's time for you to get a universal remote, my friend... specifically the logitech ones as mine do work with the wdtv. in fact it's my main remote i use for it. i have mapped almost every button of the wdtv remote to my harmony 520.

Thanks sirs! I will place my order later today.

have you check the power supply if it is okey? if nothing happens, take it back to the store and ask them to check or use their demo power supply...  :D

No luck in finding a spare remote control. Even called Axis Global but they only have "one is to one" stocks. Would you know if this can be controlled by Logitech universal remote? Got no choice here..... WDTV remote sucks & probably lemon units!! I only dropped once SIRA agad! >:( >:(

There's a P500 newstar learning remote . . . just copy the WDTV remote codes. The cheapest logitech harmony remote locall is P3,500 which is already near the price of the WDTV.

some meaning?...ok to get WDtv or Egreat na lang

The playback issues are said to be caused by the firmware and not the hardware.. The WDTV will eventually fix the playback issues with the 1080p files since it uses a similar chip that the more expensive Popcorn Hour and eGreat models use.

I need someone's help, I have 2 TB of WD My book which yesterday was playing smoothly through my wdtv.  Now when I tried both only one is being read by the player while the other 1TB cannot be detected anymore.  How come??? >:(  I tried everything to system reset, firmware upgrade, firmware downgrade... but the usb icon just keep on blinking but no storage is still present.  Problem is when I try it through my MAC, the drive reads well and i used disk utility to verify it and it says no problem whatsoever.  Anyone who encountered the same problem? :'(  My format is MAC OS extended for the said drives.  Thanks

Sorry I just checked right now and it loads pala pero it takes a very long time siguro around 5min to load?!?!?! yesterday it was around 20secs lang load na.  what happened?  I loaded around 100gb of movies today do you think it has something to do with it coz the other one is I think around 930gb full already (loading 20 sec tops) while this one is only around 890gb full (loading 5min tops!!), does it have something to do with the files coz although it has bigger free space most of my bigger files are inside this drive?  Thanks again.

mine is not that full yet and only 500GB but took a min. or 2 loads due to different file types...

in your case 1TB x 2 will take longer as you expected...  ::)  ;D

Thanks I just needed a reaffirmation, I thought it has something to do with the latest firmware that's why i downgraded back to 1.2.7.  Anyway probably it's the new files I uploaded. :P

Hi guys. Just got my WD TV from a PDVD member. When I installed my external HD full of movies, it instantly read it. But when I copied a new movie to my HD, WD TV cannot find the new title. How do I "update" the movie index?

TIA.

Very interested in getting this, but I have a few questions sirs

1. Is playback smooth? Not choppy even for 1080p mkvs?
2. Is sound really not as good as dvd sound? Read somewhere that its kind of weak
3. How many on 1080p files on average can a 1tb hdd store?

Thinking of either getting this or buy a blu ray player. :) What do you guys suggest?

ans to your questions.
1. smooth po ang playback as long as the file HD file was converted properly
2. the sound is much greater than DVD IMO pero the same thing applies with video..dapat maganda pag ka convert
3. mga 100-150 1080p movies sir..depende ulit sa pag kaka convert :D

Yes. From a comparison I've read between WDTV and M34A, mas ok PQ ng WDTV.
2. Is sound really not as good as dvd sound? Read somewhere that its kind of weak
a little weaker than dvd. with dts/dvd i could do with -18 on my AVR. with mkv's i set it to -15.
but it's not really about the volume per se, but the slam.

3. How many on 1080p files on average can a 1tb hdd store?
if full 1080p at best bitrate (@8-16GB ea.), about 60 to 80 movies.

Thinking of either getting this or buy a blu ray player. :) What do you guys suggest?
a little bit taboo... but you know what will be our reccommendation.  ;)

@ gearhead000

Ah, I see what you mean :)

One more question though regarding the "slam" of the sound, is the wd tv responsible for its weakness or is it the mkv file's shortcoming?

well, for us with no "real" HD resource, i'm not sure from which it can be attributed. we're using the wdtv playing ripped content and HDMI 1.1. also, audio is thru optical and using just plain dd/dts.

guys i having a problem with my wd tv, it plays movies 720p/1080p but it lags every 5 or 10 mins during the playback. the lag issue is showed for 5 secs straight which is really annoying. my wd tv is updated with its latest official firmware. (i updated it right after opening the box) but i did able to play the transformers 2 trailer (showest, 600mb) and yes, nag lag din sya. i thought it was the flash due to its slow transfer.

btw, i am using wd 1tb mybook home edition. i can't tell if this is the culprit, i haven't formatted it yet because its full of hd movies and i cant afford to lose it.  ;D (dont have extra hdd)
