I think it already supports chapter skip. But the file itself has to have chapters encoded as well. Unfortunately very few files have that. For now I just live with the 10 minute forward/rewind. But yes, it's a pain sometimes.

i was about to say that too. i have at least one file that can do chapters... so it's a feature that works. the file must really support it though.

the e-great has its quirks too. it can do ff but not rew. it can do time seek though.

There's a program called chapter maker so you can add chapters to mkv files. Takes only a few minutes

anyone here tried the new prerelease firmware? 1.02.10??

Quote
Prerelease 1.02.10 (includes all previously released updates)

Fixed Items:

•Greek subtitles now render properly. Previously they rendered slowly, causing them to briefly flash on the screen.

•Korean subtitles now render properly. Previously they disappeared during video playback.

•Playlists play in the correct order. Previously they played files in alphabetical order.
 Added feature:

•Metadata support for music improved over previous releases. For example, browsing by genre is broken down into artists, then albums, then tracks.
Known issues:

•A few text strings were not translated properly over different UI languages

if it's aac then that might be the problem. try using the stereo output, see if it works. if it does then that's the problem. i also can't get any sound from aac's using digital out to my yammy.

nhanc3 has also the same problem. you could try to convert the aac to another format like ac3 if that's possible.

you will,
  • if you don't have a need for dts down-conversion,
  • if you don't have a need for network functions
  • if you don't have a need for audio over hdmi
  • if you don't have a need for other nmt apps

in short, if what you're looking for is an honest-to-goodness plain HD media player only, this will more than make the grade for you! fast startup, fast browsing.

Hi, newbie here on media players. Ive been following up this thread but the more I read, the more im confused ;).

My needs:
1. I want to play 720p or 1080p movies on my lcd tv using media player.
2. I have an external HD 350 gb, usb connector.
3. I need somebody to load HD movies on my HD and play movies using a media player.

Is this possible? What do I need to purchase. I want it to be plug and play, therefore, I dont do conversion to mkv etc which I dont understand anyway.

Im not sure if this is the right thread. Sorry if wrong post.

Help naman dyan.

Thanks peeps.

^ welcome to this thread, you're in the right place. IMO, the WDTV is your best and cheapest option. if you really don't need networking capabilities then the WDtv is the perfect choice for you. you can play mkvs or avis and a whole lot of other formats on it. it has an hdmi out for the lcdtv (no component though, composite only) and optical for digital audio output. you can get files off the net or copy from your friends as i did.

How do I know if my external HD is ok to use with a WDTV. Where can I buy a WDTV and anybody here who can share / transfer HD movies to my external HD?

Thanks.
