Or may difference?

Never mind -- wala pala HDMI ang WDTV and wala pa din DTS decoder.

Yup! di kaya ng mini ang MKV. I will give this to my father just to play all .avi format movies on my files,he's just using CRT TV that's why i choose this player so simple & cheap. Silicon Valley still sell this at P 4.7 K ;D

somebody gifted my a gen 1 WDTV media player and i have been using it on my CRT and RPTV via composite cable (RCA) for which my two tvs doesnt offer hdmi.
i have no problem viewing .avi but why it doesnt play the audio in the .mkv files also in my home movies via Canon 500D (H.264 video,linear PCM audio)

my question is the RCA the reason why is doesnt play the audio of the .mkv and my Canon Vids
thanks

gen1 wdtv does not play audio of mkv files encoded in DTS (hardware limitation and licensing). play an mkv with Dolby audio and it should work.

no idea why i does not play audio from a canon cam.

probably you have DTS encoded mkv, you need DTS capable AVR to play those mkv. WDTV will not downscale it to stereo kasi.
Pag AC3 yun audio ng video pwde pa.

got same wtv version and recently incountered problems on some mkv files. I read that it has to do with incompatible video codec. Only solution is to reset the unit but have to change audio output to digital.

if your receiver can decode dts, no problem even mkv movies with dts sound.

First make sure na may decoder and AVR for the specified audio. Second siguro is to check the settings sa WDTV. Make sure naka digital audio output. astly, kung ayaw sa HDMI try using an optica l cable for the sound then HDMI for the video.

Ganito ba set up mo: WDTV --HDMI--> AVR --HDMI--> TV? Kasi naka HDMI ka going to AVR so I am assuming you are outputting your video via the amp as well then gong to the TV.

Try to separate it baka gumana.

WDTV --HDMI--> TV
WDTV --OPTICAL--> AVR

Tapos change the WDTV settings to digital audio.

Found similar problems:

Still have til this Saturday to have it replaced.  Ang problema, after Christmas pa dating nung replacement units.

No problems with my WDTV Live but I agree that the usb slots looks fragile, but I don't have any connection problems naman.

Since minsan we use flash drives and hindi maiwasan tanggal-kabit-tanggal-kabit ng usb, what I did was use a usb hub with a very short usb cable para kahit masira man yun madali palitan. HTH

Sorry, mali tanong ko.

USB sa gilid no prob kabit-tanggal.  Pero yung asa likod maluwag.  Konting magalaw disconnected na.  I-mighty bond ko kaya...hehe..  :D

One time just had to unplug power cord and plug ule, okay.

What I'm most particular with is the HDMI output.
