The much-awaited biggest sale of the year, billed as CD and DVD Rollback, will be held on Nov. 14, 15 and 16 (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) at the 10th floor of the building on 1487 Quezon Ave., Quezon City.

There will be as much as 90 percent discounts on best-selling CDs, DVDs, VCDs and cassettes.

Participating in the sale are Dyna Products, Universal Records, EMI Philippines, Galaxy Records, GMA Records and Magnavision.

The Rollback will continue at same venue on Nov. 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30; and on Dec. 5, 6, 7, 12 and 14. Sale is from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

There were some decent bargains on DVDs especially on boxed sets. I was hoping Heroes Season 2 was going to be put on sale at 455 but it's still at 999.

dave koz at the movies 100pesos local
hall and oates marigold sky 50 pesos imported

cd sale prices from 20 pesos to 200 same titles as before

CD titles were dismal. No new titles were available if you've already visited the previous sales. Stocks may get better in the coming weeks but I'm not going anymore.

guys,

just want to ask for your help...

i went to the cd/dvd rollback sale at the universal tower ( quezon avenue ) last weekend and purchased 45 cds worth P2660...98% of the cds were SEALED so i surmissed that these were never opened nor used...imagine my dismay when i discovered that some CDs were SCRATCHED even if they were SEALED..of course, these CDs played like the other CDs but im still disappointed since i am very particular with the physical appearance of the cd...when i bought these CDs, i even asked the unfriendly salesperson if i can open them so as to check their quality..he has only two words for a reply : BAWAL PO! with matching SIMANGOT...i evn politely ask the cashier but he also has the same reply : BAWAL PO!...

what should i do ? should i return the CDS? will the unfriendly salespersons allow me to replace the scratched Cds with unscratched copies of the same titles?

PLEASE HELP!

I think you're referring to cds in "resealable" plastics wraps. I am a regular of the Universal CD Sale and tho I saw some really sealed ones, almost all of the cds there are actually in "resealable" plastic wraps. Just like you, I'm very particular about scratches, so I really open them (the resealable ones) to check on the cd even if it meant opening 10 or more copies of the same title. Luckily for me, no one's ever prevented me from doing so. Maybe becoz I project that stubborn-as-a-mule stance rightaway.

I do agree with you. Some people who are supposed to assist you there are really ugly and grumpy. You may ignore them or if they cross the line, then it's just fine to blow your top (I often go to the 2nd one coz lately I'm short fused and I don't like begging hehehe).

If you want to have them replaced, all you have to do is just bring the cds back and ask them nicely. But I suggest you go directly to the manager (he's a short Chinoy). I'm quite sure he will understand you from a collectors perspective. If he refuses to budge, then FIRMLY demand a refund coz you know your right as a consumer. Make a scene if really necessary hehe..

i think the scratches were factory defects because the CDs were SEALED..as an example, smashing pumpkins' greatest hits have scratches on BOTH cds...so with lea salonga's gratest hits ..both Cds were sealed as opposed to tiffany's latest album ( with "world " in the title )which was not sealed and had scratches also...

my biggest disappointment is the rude behavior of the salespersons and their refusal to let me open the cds first before purchasing..i also went to the SONY cd sale last march at robinson's pioneer and bought almost 50 cds but the salesperson was very accomodating and even HELPED ME OPEN THE CDS para " di ka na mahirapan sir." ( his words )...

of course, odyssey. music one and astro salespersons allowed me to check the cds first before buying EVEN IF THESE CDS ARE ON SALE...actually, odyssey even allowed me to LISTEN TO UNFAMILIAR ARTISTS' CDS FIRST before making my purchases...

I've returned majority of my items with immense success ( and even beyond the 7 day grace period ). Here are tips:

1) Bring receipt always.
2) Look for the manager/supervisor.
3) Sound authoritative and firm. But be pleasant! Keep your cool.
4) Optional but try buying another item or adding to the sale!
5) Don't forget to thank whoever replaced your item.

Dun sa mga salesperson with rude behavior naman,

1) Get their full name.
2) Get complete name and address of management.
2) Tell them that because of their rude behavior, you will report this to management.
3) Write a letter to Management ( if you still feel strongly )

However, don't expect that this will be acted upon immediately or acted upon at all. Here in the Pinas, customer service is still a foreign thing. At least, you did what's right ( kesa upakan mo yun mga h@@$$$p na yun baka mademanda ka pa

).
