Got the 2-disc standard edition. PQ is so terrible!!!! At some points in the film it felt like I was watching one those 10 in 1 PDVDs!!! TDK is probably the most awaited title for 2008. They have no excuse for coming out with such a terribly encoded DVD other than they were intentionally doing it to promote Blu-ray sales. Super disappointed ako.

Bad talaga ng PQ*!

I bought this DVD just to complete my DVD collection of Batman kaya no regrets and I am aware beforehand na talagang pangit ang Quality nito...

"go for the BLU!!!" - warner (hehehehehe!)

*for your reference: screenshot was taken in full screen mode using PowerDVD 8. I'm using a 22" monitor.

no r3 steelbook, i asked a warner rep sa astro trinoma. baka umorder na lang ako nung r1 f.y.e. steelbook.

Will just wait for the eventual mark down sometime next year.

Seems like the bad PQ was intentional. SD can't be this bad

Okay, got a text from Warner's Sales Head saying that the 2 premium variants were released by Customs at 5 PM this afternoon. Deliveries are starting tonight and Warner is confident they can complete deliveries to all Metro Manila retailers by tomorrow PM. I suggest you call your branch first before heading there.

Regarding PQ, here's a quote from DVD Movie Guide:

While not unwatchable, the film provided a very disappointing transfer.

As seems to be the case with many Warner Bros. DVDs these days, compression artifacts were the main distraction. Knight often took on a blocky look that affected definition. Shimmering and jagged edges cropped up throughout the film; many shots displayed a ropy look, and I also saw mild edge enhancement. All of these factors often gave the image an unnatural roughness.

Just curious too, Is the PQ of the DVD release so bad that potentially, those "Bluray" DVD (not Bluray discs) could have better PQ? Mods, please delete post and advise if this kind of discussion is illegal...

R1 because of the cover, variant editions? In terms of PQ, all NTSC region releases are likely sourced from the same master going by Warner's SOP.

What a disappointment this has turn out to be. I was already thinking twice about getting the batpod due to its current pricing scheme. Now, with the PQ and quality of material used for the collectible, I don't think it would be worth it. I already spent gas money and effort going to Astro this morning only to be told that customs did not release the product. Was supposed to call before going over, but the damn receipt did not have their phone number.
