2009 Plasma/LCD models
« on: Nov 24, 2008 at 09:48 AM »
When is the best time to get new Tv's? 2008 is almost finished. When will the 2009 models come out? I don't wish to spend my money right now and find out after 1 month that a new model is our to replace what I bought....  ???

A newly-released model isn't always better.

The advantage of a 2008 model is that there are many user reviews and professional reviews already available for browsing.  If the model has any issues, major or minor, you'll read about warnings posted by owners.  :(

If you buy a 2009 model as soon as it is available, and it so happens that it has a major issue, you'll be the one posting the warning; and we'll be the ones reading.  ;)

another train of thought is that you'll be buying your tv at its peak price if you're buying it on its release date ... others will be buying it probably 10k lower a few months later, sans the bugs that were present in the tv that you bought.
Marantz NR1200, MartinLogan Motion 20 digital audio setup, and Sony A80J

No, it's not 10 times better than plasma/lcd.  It's not twice cheaper either.

So much for YouTube as a reliable source of information.  :(

===================================

Mahihirapan ang Laser TV sa competition.

There's only 1 Laser TV available, and that's the Laservue by Mitsubishi.  There's only 1 size -- 65 inches.

First problem is that it's a fatty.  It's rear-projection TV, not a flat panel.  And it's harder to market a fat TV than a thin TV.

Second problem is the price -- US$ 7,000.  ;)

Third problem is that it's the world's first Laser TV ever sold commercially.  Latest-model plasma nga, duda pa ako; paano pa kaya kung world's first Laser TV?

Kayo na lang kaya ang mag-test nito, balitaan n'yo na lang ako ...  :D

BTW, Panasonic has already reached 300M Plasmas produced with nearly 80% market share in Japan.  Ilan kaya nabenta.  So much for Plasma dying anytime soon.

Kung nagtitipid, best time to buy is always during the transition period but you'd get the previous gen's model.  Improvements from 7 series to 8 series of Panasonic were quite significant.  From 8 to 9 is almost trivial (additional built-in hdd only).  8 to 8.5 is purely aesthetics.

Marami pang pedeng improve ang plasma. But if you take these things too seriously, you might end up not buying at all sa kakahintay..hehehe.

Well whatever generation no. you assign to it, as far as PV80/PX80 is concerned, the latest model is a 37 inch.  Wala pang direct succesor ang PV80/PX80.

Panel wise, it should be at least a generation older (in terms of tech) compared to that of full HD PZ800

LE has already been phased out in Tokyo.
