Pushing Daisies
« on: Jul 23, 2007 at 10:14 PM »
From Bryan Fuller and Barry Sonnenfeld, debuts on ABC Fall 2007:

Crime, forensics and romace are blended together to tell the tale of Ned (Lee Pace), a young man with a unique ability -- he can touch dead things and bring them back to life. Ned uses his ability in many ways, from ripening fruit to helping solve murders by having the deceased tell him who the killer was. But Ned's tale isn't always happily ever after. When Ned uses his ability to bring his childhood sweetheart, Chuck (Anna Friel), back to life, she encourages him to use his power to help people, but there's a catch in their seemingly perfect life -- if Ned touches Chuck again she'll once again die, and Ned wouldn't be able to bring her back.

A mixture of Big Fish, Dead Like Me and Wonderfalls. I hope it doesn't get canceled after a couple episodes...

Pre-air is out!

This is the show I've been looking forward to the most.

This is my favorite pre-air!

A mixture of Big Fish, Dead Like Me and Wonderfalls. I hope it doesn't get canceled after a couple episodes...

It also reminded me of Amelie.

Seen the pilot (or is it called the pre-air, can't keep up with these terms) and am not surprised Barry Sonenfield directed it and agree with the Wonderfalls parallels.   But Wonderfalls was like candy - - -I could only take it in very small doses with long lulls inbetween and still haven't finished going through my box set. I'm afraid this has the same effect on me. It's a quirky, agog sherbet of colors  - - - but not really as funny as I wanted. I'd still take a peek from time to time to see how they develop that premise into a season (if it lasts that long) but all I can sum it up with is that it's better than Heroes is now
. . .which isn't saying much, since Primeval is better than Heroes is now. Wish I liked it more but I don't think I do. Least not yet.

my family and i watch this but i'm already getting bored with it due to its repetitiveness. there are other better NEW shows out there like (in alphabetical order  8) ) Aliens in America, Big Shots, Carpoolers, etc.

And another show bites the dust. ABC just recently announced the cancellation of Pushing Daisies.

I believe the last one would be S02E13.

Feeling gracious pa ang ABC. They didn't even use the word "cancellation" in their press release. They just decided not to renew the show. Fuller and company are now talking to DC Comics for a possible comic book. They also have a movie pitch. We'll see...

What's annoying is 2x13 is a cliffhanger. I really think cancellation notice should be given with a 2-episode "grace period," to allow the creators to tie up loose ends. For the fans who stuck by the show.

I agree. I think it happened with Fuller's last series, Wonderfalls. That one had a satisfying ending. Dead Like Me which also lasted 2 seasons has a straight to DVD movie. Amazon has it listed for a February 2009 release. The only consolation for me, the boxsets are easier to collect.
