Depending on the particular movies, not all movies have two editions, only certain movies have two editions (e.g. Wall-E: one withoutout Digital Copy & one with Digital Copy).

Also some movies come together with the Digital Copy, meaning there's only one edition (e.g. The Nightmare Before Christmas + Digital Copy)

BD live is optional regardless if the movie comes with DC. For me, whenever there's another edition that comes w/out the DC...I'll get that for sure. Not only it's cheaper, I have no use of the DC. Probably it's useful for those having laptops & travel a lot for convenience purpose.

there is a price difference of around $10-$15 between the standalone and the one with the extras. after reading the reviews of people buying the ones with digital copy, i think its better to get the standalone if you just want to watch the movie itself

The digital copy only works if you have an American Itunes account. That's convenient.. ugh. :)

I know, right! :)

Do they actually sell BDs without Digital Copies? For example with the Dark Knight BDs, do they have editions without digital copies? Coz everywhere I see on the internet it always includes the digital copy versions. Do we have a choice? :)

I'm afraid so.. sucks noh? :)

But I guess for those people who are HD all the way, these digital copies are nothing to them, quality-wise. :)

So far I notice those Digital Copy discs from Fox studio offer two options to transfer the movie to PC i.e. tru iTunes or Window Media Player (WMP).

There's no mention of expiry date though. How do we know when is the expiry? Probbaly this is not applicable to transfer done to WMP? Geez....will try to give it a try later.  ;D

*Assuming there's no expiry, it still doesn't change my opinion that DC is "useless" (for me). :P

assuming you have the bluray/dvd copy, why would you need to watch the digital copy thru WMP when you can watch it on ur dvd/blu ray player? and assuming youve transfered it to WMP, is there a limit on how many times you could view the said transfer if its not yet expired?

For the Wanted BD, the expiry date of the digital copy was written down on the sticker on the front cover. :)

Do people actually use the digital copy? $10-$15 is a big amount especially when converted to philippine peso..lets hope that they give us an option, or if they do force adding it, prices dont go up...

Probably for people who own laptop & frequently on the move/traveling, etc..

In short, I think it's just a total BS gimmick. :-[

i have many bd with digital copy hoping that i could transfer them to my ipod touch. But to my dismay, all of it has invalid redeem code. Is it really for USA account only?

Been trying to email their respective customer support but till not haven't gotten any reply.

Basing on most people's comments, i guess we do need a USA account..

regarding the expiry date..what if we purchased an old stock of a BD copy movie..like for example a copy of Wanted which its digital copy had already expired..would we get a refund or something? or a replacement? why would they have an expiry date anyway..sheeesh

I bought a couple of BDs with Digital copies. From what I understand, the validation code is what expires, not the digital copy. Once you've redeemed the code, it should be yours indefinitely (I hope). Also note that the Digital copy will be tagged with your iTunes account info.

WALL•E fine print:

The Dark Knight Digital Copy in iTunes:

There is a way to create a US Itunes Store account without a credit card. I can't find the link to the method I used (the one that gives you free songs) but I've found another link that involves getting free apps from the App Store: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-get-a-Free-Itunes-Account-No-Credit-Card-N/

So far I have The Dark Knight, Jumper, WALL•E and Rambo digital copies backed up on my external HDD. I've also tried uploading The Dark Knight to my iPhone. It's neat but drains the battery hard. :P

Hope this helps those with Digital Copies!

Wow thanks for the tip! I will try it later with my digital copies. :)

So, we can export the videos out of itunes and into an external HD? :)

Yup. You should be able to drag the file from iTunes to your external HDD or you can find the file in you iTunes Music folder and copy it from there. You can remove it from the iTunes library if you want to save on hard drive space but take note that it'll only play if it's in your iTunes library (as far as I can tell). Adding them back to the iTunes Library should be simple enough. I think you just need to be logged in to your iTunes account while doing so so it can verify your machine. :)

Sir, if the validation code expires, then the digital copy is useless right? Is there anyway to extend these expiry date?

Looks like it, bro. :( When I first read about the expiry dates, I scrambled to redeem them as soon as possible. Kinda odd that they have fixed expirations. They don't even have the expiry dates written outside of the box as far as I know. Apparently they do, according to sir imperialcog.

You can try e-mailing the customer service of the studio to get a new code. But not sure what good that will do if they know that you live in the Philippines.  :( Then again, there's no harm in trying! ;)

yes, the code does expire...mine did.  >:(

i think even if it does not expire, i would not have been able to redeem it. it is region-locked. i recently bought an R1 DVD (my apologies...i know this is an HD thread. sorry kung naligaw, same topic kasi eh  ;D) with digital copy and the insert states that: "restrictions and limitations apply. Must reside in the U.S. or Canada..."

i don't know if this is the same case with bds.

I'm an iPod user so for me, BD's with digital copies are worth it.

Currently I have digital copies of Constantine, The Incredible Hulk, The Dark Knight, Wall-E, Journey To The Center Of the Earth, Nightmare Before Christmas, Speed Racer and Jumper, all redeemed from iTunes (I have a US account even though I'm Philippine based...  ;D)
