Php 550 (?):

Zombie Strippers

I got Zombie Strippers November or December last year when I first saw it. Didn't wait for it to go on sale, because as campy as it looks, well, it's pretty interesting. Hehe! I got the imported version (the one with an alphanumeric code on the spine, Php 550) which I haven't seen in many stores.

During the December holiday sales, I remember seeing Zombie Strippers go down to P350 price (I'm just not sure now which store this was in).

Ic. Is the sticker "imported dvd" still intact on the 350 copy that you saw?

Also, saw Anaconda 3: Offsprings for 375 but the packaging is awful. (Maybe it is a locally pressed magna release).

Yes, I believe so. I was also surprised that it was already discounted as this was just a recent release. Not sure if it was a pricing error...

The standee it was displayed in said the DVD came with a BOOK. I'm guessing the book was probably inserted in the slipcase?

Before you guys buy this title - wasn't TinkerBell the direct-to-video sequel that was so bad that when the current Disney head watched it, she (he?) decided to end ALL direct-to-video sequels to classic Disney films?

Yes.

On the bright side, it was nice to see the budget edition initial release price cut from 475 to 375.

On the dark side... ALL Magna's releases for 2009 have been budget editions. Have they slowed down on bringing in imported DVDs?

My guess is that they will only Import 'high profile' titles.  The fact that Eagle Eye and Tropic Thunder, their two high profile title are now available on VCD but not DVD seems to indicate that.  Though I could be wrong...

Also nice new price point.  Make less sense to wait for bargain for titles you'd like.  They are DVD9, BTW, at least Open Season 2 is...

Also Tinkerbell collector's edition giftset, doesn't have the book inside.  Lucky for me, I asked to open one otherwise I might have bought it.  The Astro I went, doesn't have any 'book' so either it's still to be delivered or the poster (Standee) is wrong...  better to wait awhile if you are interested in the giftset...

I don't think Tinkerbell is the direct-to-home DVD that triggered Lasseter and Co. to stop production of all those projects.  Tinkerbell is part of a trilogy, but it's targetted to children of a lesser age, especially girls.  And most reviews gives it a thumbs-up if you are in that age group, that is...

I think Magna still releases the imported DVD's of non-high profile movies, only, the stocks are quite few. To name some, The Kite Runner, No Country For Old Men, Margot At The Wedding, Vantage Point, Prom Night, Zombie Strippers and Made of Honor.

I can only speak for Open Season 2, since that's the only title I bought out of the bunch.  Local DVD9.  But probably all are, since Magnavision seldom put out DVD5s for new releases (unless the content does fit on a DVD5 ie a short movie).

I haven't seen this for the longest time and I was surprised to see the SCREAM Trilogy box set earlier at O Music Rockwell. The artwork mirror's the R1 version. Not sure though if it is single or 2-discers.

Btw, anyone noticed the Jonas Brothers giftset? or whatever they call it worth P3,500++? with shirt, shoulder bag, etc. It is cased in a hard plastic portfolio type box which is very small, around 7"x5"x4".
My daughter was already holding it when I had to ask her to put it back.  :-\

Scream Trilogy? What does it look like? I am big Scream fan. Even having the R1 and the R3 Korean version is not enough If this release is god enough I might grab myself a copy. Sana imported... or it might be one of those crappy Viva releases. (Viva released the Scream series before on VHS and VCD as I remember)

Yeah, what concerns me about this Scream boxed set release is that if I remember right, of the three films, VIVA only released Scream 3 on DVD, and it was one of their 375 (initial price) releases, so I was wary of its quality. No idea if this (and the other two films) will be fullscreen VCD-quality releases, as their other 375 releases usually are.

Yes, only SCREAM 3 dvd were released. The box itself being released now is not like those in Region 1 wherein it opens in the middle (hence, the jagged edge look) so I'm guessing it's their usual P375 released without any features. Hopefully I'm wrong. :-\
