I have the R1 Earth - The Biography (the American title of Earth - The Power of the Planet). I wouldn't say Dr. Iain Stewart's series is a copycat. From a geologist's point of view, they each present different aspects of the earth's evolution. Stewart's series is more comprehensive and lively, a good introduction for students wanting to take up geology. It focuses mainly on the dynamic processes governing our planet. On the other hand, Dr. Aubrey Manning's Earth Story (Manning, I believe is a biologist), encompasses a greater scope and is presented in a more toned down manner. The focus of this series is to tell earth's history through the evidences left behind by rocks.

OT, you should see Stewart's other geological series, Journeys From The Center of the Earth and Journeys Into The Ring of Fire. Highly interesting geo-society stuff. Not sure if they're available on video. I just torrented them.

Meet Dave is a bit expensive at 750. I think it's a single disc. The 750 price point is usually reserved for 2disc releases.

Stay away from this -- even if your daughters beg you to buy! Don't be fooled by its 3D packaging. Not only is the main feature in fullscreen, but it's also just DVD5! And what's worse is its video quality.

I don't think so. It's a Warner property, so don't expect it anytime soon given that the local distribution just changed hands.

I didn't see a single disc version at any of the stores I went to earlier today. The 2-disc version does not have DTS.

I got the P750 Babylon A.D. It does not state in the cover that it is a 2-disc set and indeed it is a single disc. This is the scanned front cover (slipcase):
