ummmmm... those are very attractive prices... I will have to contact Mr. RR and Mr. ST sooner than soon. I can't wait to hear the Marantz AVRs together with a mission set up.

I hope the above dealers can give me a very good deal on the package... hehehe

hmmm... the choices are so difficult... change my reciever or my speaker...

in hind-sight, the mission m74i and the m7c2 ONLY would already cost as much as my entire yammie, wharf AND dq12 setup.  :'(

anyone know how much a 2nd hand rxv-430 could sell these days? ;D

wharfs are good paired with marantz, harman kardon and NAD, the yammies don't have enough juice to drive these speakers. I previously owned a marantz sr4200 and it can drive the wharfs that i had (in 5 channel stereo) to loud volumes.

really? is the sound that noticable?

the only thing about the marantz is that is has a lower wattage compared to the yammie. 80w lang yung 4300 and 90w sa 5300. the wharfs can take 100w and the yammie pumps 100w as well, di ba mas match yung ganon?

then again, even getting the 5300 will be much cheaper than buying mission speakers. hehehe...

Pare dati i owned a Yamaha RXV520 which has only 70 watts /ch and using Wharfedale 8.3 and Wharfedale diamond center...as far as driving the wharfs are concerned walang ka proble problema..yakang yakang nung 520 yung 8.3 ko at talagang malakas..actually ang ganda nang compatibility nila coz yammy being bright sounding amps and Wharf being mahina ang tweeter...yung pagiging bright nung yamaha gives life to the Wharfs tweeter.

Speakers with same level as wharf have been tested already side by side with competitors, and the verdict already given - wharfedale topped them all unless you want to be better than those who made tech evaluation and retest all of those speakers again (sound like reinventing the wheels he he he). Wharfedale speakers are the most neutral, if not transparent. And wharfedale will show only how good your amplifiers are.

Yamaha and wharfedale are good match. This has been declared by other respected reviewers. You know why? Its not because Yamaha sounded bright. Its not because wharfedale tweeter are dull.

Its because wharfedale are neutral speakers and Yamaha amp produces accurate sounds.

Marantz amp roll of the high frequency (making it sound dull with wharf), Denon's characterisitc is hard sound, onkyo is like marantz producing somehow sweet sound.

Mission or BW speakers somehow has given extra emphasis on the tweeter so pairing it with yamaha that produces accurate sound will tend to overdo it in the highs.

Well, of course, kaya nga may bass & treble control ang mga amp natin e para i-taylor yan sa taste natin. Borrowing the words from eastwoodhifi.com, "...with controls provided on a marantz amp, i can make it to sound like a Yamaha...".

At least, you know your perimeter, if you have a wharf speaker, you should know what amp to get (dapat accurate amp). If you have a marantz amp, then you should know what speakers to get (medyo giving extra emphasis on highs).

Enjoy!

Bros,

Sorry if I will sound a broken record or little stupid (bec. of some explanation given above), but I would like to ask anyone of you.  Since I'm in this finalization stage of choosing an HT set up, what would you choose from the following set- up and why?

* Marantz 5300
   Mission M73i
   Mission Center
   Mission M71i as surround

** Marantz 6300
     Wharfs Diamond 8.4
     Wharfs Diamond Center
     Wharfs Diamond 8.1

Any reply and comments will be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Bullet,

any option is okay - but since your 2nd option indicates you have bullets in your pocket, why do you have to go marantz? why not go RX-V630 on 2nd option - mas match sila? and maybe you can save pa to buy DVD or SACD-capable player?

Courage / Jof,

Thanks for your comments.

Actually my dilemma is this, If I go for the lower end Marantz 5300, I can get the Mission set up. But If I'll get the 6300, no more dough and it will be "Mission" impossible for me and the Wharfs will be my alternative.

I have nothing against Yamahas but preference wise, I still like the Marantz/Onkyos/Denons.

Esep... esep pa for me in the coming days.

Thanks.

Hi Bullet!
So you have answered your question - the best option (correct matching) is the first if you will buy it with your current resources.

Bullet,
Suggestion ko, if you think the missions are better than the wharfs then get the missions.

hope this helps,
Skabyol

Bullet, just got my new setup up and running this afternoon. Marantz 4300 + Mission m7x. It's breath-taking. I suggest you audition the stuff you're interested in. I-side by side mo yung mga options mo. I can tell you that you can't go wrong with the Marantz and Mission set-up.  :) :)

I'm 90% sure that I'll get the 5300 na together with a Mission set up. I just hope that I can get a good deal from either Mr. RR or Mr. ST.

Bullet-

why did you decide on 8.4 but only m73i? why not get the m74i instead? if i had the money, i'd go for the m72i, m74i and m7c2 but that's just me.... hehehe... that or get a vlf-1012 with the wharf speakers.

i do like the setup though. i personally would prefer to get the 8.4 instead of the 8.3 that i have now.  :-\

LoBudget,

Thanks for your comments.

Missions M74i is way out of my budget unless I want to be riddled with depleted uranium bullets by my Commander in Chief.. hehehe.

The most I can go is for the M73i as fronts or the Wharf set-up with 8.4. Can anyone comment on the compatibility of Marantz 5300 and an 8.4.

Thanks.

bullet,

what did you end up getting? i personally wouldve gotten the cheaper receiver and the better speakers. but why not assemble slowly and get the 6300 and the missions. thats the approach i took in completing my HT  :D

tenx,

cant help you there bro. i haven't gone around yet to look at the marantz receivers yet. but from what i've seen on this site parang 5300 to 7300 lagi ang pinaguusapan. aren't you considering a dts-es or dd-ex receiver?

Im looking for my 2nd receiver pang bedroom lang and my budget would be less 10k lang.

ive seen HK3000 dito eh demo unit at selling around that price.  kako baka bumaba na maigi ang marantz eh di dyan na lang bumili dahil mahirap magbagahe..

at saka ive seen din sa other thread na nasa 15k na ang 5300 eh.

I've read from other forums that the new marantz models sometimes automatically shuts off... I think this has something to do with a chip in the receiver... anyway, thought you guys would like to know lang, in case you experience this, have it changed to a newer one agad...
