Not to mention the fact that a DVD-+R has a limited lifespan (around 2-3, IIRC) years depending on how it's stored and the quality of the organic dyes used.

I have a few DVDRs over 3 years old. They're all still working. Just generic stuff from CDRKing.

i think it's a hit or miss situation, i had some DVDs had CRC errors but majority also working, a very few cannot be read anymore, even the disc used are branded
do not do unto others what can you do for today

@ froot and huddaf thank you bros.

enjoying HD now  ;D ;D ;D

SO far the m31a has been performing as expected.  I've already tried copying and moving files from windows xp, thanks to richie for walking me through the nitty gritty   ;D

only problem so far is that a couple of movies seem to have some file error, one froze (Hanna Montana concert) and won't continue playing.  another (mummy: tomb of dragon emperor) apparently is an incomplete movie file.  it suddenly "ended" around middle part of the movie.  will find a good copy of these from e-home.

again thank you guys

Hmm...

If the advantages of the 31b are not all that great, why is everyone choosing to buy it instead of the 31a?  Is 1.3 hdmi and eSata the only compelling reasons?
