HDMI cable for BD player
« on: Apr 24, 2009 at 10:34 AM »
good day.

meron kaya effect yun branded HDMI cables (ixos, ultralink, kimber cable, tara labs, monster?) compare sa mga ordinary cable (generic na 1.3A)?  as of now i am using AV link (generic HDMI cable) sa BD30 to onkyo 605. start palang me sa set up for DTS hd or dolby true HD.

kung meron difference anu kaya okay na brand for pioneer BD or panasonic bd30.

thanks  :)

I've tried using a CDR-king and AudioPro hdmi cable sa PS3 ko, parehas lang ang PQ.

i also use both cdr-king and branded hdmi cables in my set up, and don't see any problems or difference in both pq and sq departments.  :)

as long as hindi sira yung cable ... same picture quality lang.

i have ultralink, audiopro, cdrking, blue jeans cable and tartan cable (all HDMI)

but never buy monster cables.  bad business practices: preying on other "monster" named business even if those businesses have nothing to do with AV or cables.

branded cable should offer efficiency of electrical signal travel from end to end. You pay for the copper content i guess ......

pero i dunno if may relevance sa output .....

sa ngayun happy pa ako sa free HDMI cable ko hehehe pero baka bibili din ako ng maganda ganda kaunti ng HDMI cable..... mahal ng equipment, don't wanna skimp sa interconnect pa

never really got the chance to try generic cables. i tried belkin which is fairly cheap, ended up buying the same brand for the rest of my hdmi cable connects.

if i have money to burn then i'd try monster  ;D

with hdmi cables, i've read online na PQ is the same regardless of brand. either it works or it doesn't. i guess ang debate is, tatagal ba yung no-name cables? i've been using generic hdmi cables for more than 2 years na, no problems so far. will find out when i rearrange my room and i start rewiring again :)

almost bought orig monster hdmi's but decided to go for 4 cambridge audio hdmi's (bd650 blu ray, ps3, xbox360 all to denon, then denon to sammy 46led6900. I can attest that there is really a difference from a generic hdmi (which I also have 4). yun nga lang, you really have to pay kung branded.

also, depends on the model range nung hdmi. within monster or cambridge, may subcategory pa mga yan. I got the 800 series of cambridge. so far, it's the best picture and sound for me... ;D

dom wala difference so far for me, mixed with generic and branded at may imitation pa, same same lang in my experience. I heard though that you might want to look for a good brand for really long HDMI cables..

i have 3 hdmi cables. for my xbox i bought a white generic brand from cdr king, for the bd it was free with the bdp and then i bought audio pro at 550 pesos. lahat1.3b and can support both audio and video streaming to the reciever (yun kasi ang nabasa ko, 1.3b ang dapat gamitin).

I use the free HDMI cables that came with my LG tv and LG Blu-Ray player. The salesmen at Abensons G4 were trying to sell me Gold tipped HDMI cables and said that the free one that came with my Blu-ray would rust quickly. He-he, I'm no sucker! I also have an Audioqest Forest HDMI cable though I haven't done back to back tests to check the difference.

Yeah, no noticeable difference. Unless, may tama yung pinagkumparahang generic cable, then there will be difference hehe...

eh, puede kang matapat sa gold tipped, pero underspec yung cables between, so its not just about the tip.

its all about conductive property nung metal, gold tipped gives you better conduction, pero with the signals that your HD players send, no-name is ok. At kung palpak si no-name HDMI cable, eh di bili ka ulit, if its really that cheap.

For all who said there is a difference?  So what is the difference? How can you tell the difference?  Don't get me wrong guys, I just want to know.

I think it all boils down to marketing haha.

Haha, douche nozzle FTW!

Personally, I've never really subscribed to the idea that there is a discrnible difference in PQ when using either a generic or branded HDMI cable.. although I do prefer buying at least a Sony or Philips-branded variety, more for the warranty. A bit pricier than generic, yes, but not too expensive for me to skip my lunches for.
Going 3D, at last! (And I don't care it it's a fad.)
