I hope it's cheaper than the actual retail price.  ;D

Will there also be a blu-ray character case?  or is that in DVD only?

Metro-Con Comic Convention

Megamall August 8 and 9, 2009

It's a relief to learn that Watchmen DVD is indeed coming. Thanks for the update. I've been looking towards this release. 2009 has not been a good year for DVD collecting for me as far as new movies go.

Just what is a character case? Like Ironman's helmet DVD case?

Character cases are probably what we call "mask" editions, similar to iron man mask and batman mask.  :)

Oh yeah! I almost forgot about the Director's Cut coming out later this year. Guess I'll skip this.

Isn't this the director's cut?

I thought this was the director's cut and what's coming out later this year is the ultimate collector's edition (UCE).  ???

Either way, I'll just wait for the Ultimate Collector's Edition since it has Tales of the Black Freighter spliced in.

I believe the disc launching at the Metro Comic Con is indeed the Director's Cut. I guess Magnavision was not so specific.

Yes, this should already be the Director's Cut with 24 mins. of additional footage. The 5-disc Ultimate Edition that will be released in December will have the Director's Cut with the "Tales of the Black Freighter" spliced in.

I'm not one who likes to double-dip, so I think I can wait for the UE in December.

As far as I know...the Director's Cut is the first to be released with the UCE (with the theatrical cut and splices) coming in the latter part of the year...double dip ata ako dito. ;)
... if this is your first night at Fight Club, you have to fight.

Magnavision, we need a clarification:

By "Uncensored Version," do you mean it will be the Intact US Theatrical Version, since the version shown in local cinemas was Censored by the MTRCB; or do you mean it's the Director's Cut, as was released on R1?

I am sure all our comments are duly noted by Magnavision.  As they have said in another thread, all our comments are appreciated and greatly help in their decision making.  As for their advertisement-like posts, at least, we get to know them first, I wouldn't complain about that.

No, I do not know Magnavision, but your post does seem kinda rude...

Just to clarify, the US released "Director's Cut" contains an extra 24 minutes of footage.

Here's the back cover of the R1 for everyone's reference:

This release is 186 minutes long.

The Theatrical Release is 162 minutes long.

Just take a look for the differences in time length With our R3 version before you buy.

Pricing as seen at the Metro Comic Con:

1 Disc - P750
2 Disc - P895
2 Disc Steelcase = P1,595
2 Disc Character Case = P1,895

I personally don't like the look of the character cases (Dr. Manhattan & Rorschach). The steelcase artwork though is quite nice.

The 2-Disc Special Edition released here is not the Director's Cut. It's the Uncensored Theatrical Version that's only 162 minutes long, as indicated on the case - no 24 minutes of additional footage. Disappointing.
