My Audio Problem...sort of..
« on: May 29, 2009 at 12:58 PM »
Hi!

Hope you can help me with my problem..i want to upgrade my Parents room..

Currently has:
32" Bravia LCD
Sony DAV-DZ150k [5.1] Dvd Player [Bundle sa TV]....No Optical for audio[x_x]

Will Buy:
WD TV Media Player

Question = Since walang Optical ung Sound System na bundle sa Bravia...ang choice ko na lang ba eh to listen to the LCD TV while watching HD Movies??

or is there an item which will let me utilize the 5.1 sound system that it came with?? [Medyo cheap lang sana]

Thanks!!

kung walang optical baka may coaxial pwede rin yun.

if neither then you'll have to find a receiver with digital audio input.

ah i see, wala din po Coaxial ung HTIB ko...this is the alternate solution i was thinking [tell me if it is correct]

WD Player HDMI =connect=> LCD TV =use=> TV Audio Out [Red & White Plug] =connect=> HTIB Audio In

i know it won't play 5.1 sound..but..

1. will the sound system still work? [ok lang na hindi 5.1 , para lang naman sa parents ko eh]
2. IF i use the Audio-Out of the WD TV Player + HDMI...will it automatically seperate the Audio & Video??

Thanks!

1. the connections you specified are correct, there's no harm in trying. have tried that setup with my tv. there's sound from the tv speakers but no sound via tv audio out. apparently my tv out can only output audio from tuner.
2. the audio out of the wdtv can be connected directly to your htib audio in. i think this would sound better since you minimize the audio signal route. output is stereo only but if your htib is capable you might be able to get simulated surround sound

wd ----> hdmi (audio & video) ---> tv
      |
---> rca cables (from wd audio out to htib audio in)
