Local Movies in DVD with Dolby surround?
« on: Jun 29, 2009 at 06:59 PM »
Hi guys! Just wondering if anybody has purchased any local movies in DVD with Dolby surround encoding?

I am still in the process of buying a surround processor for my recording studio so I haven't verified myself. I personally mixed Dolby surround local movies for film. I did the Dolby mixing in Thailand. No Dolby certified studio with the latest Dolby equipment, Pro Tools Icon system and optical surround transfer -processing services which I require exists in the Philippines.

The Dolby movies I have done are:
Exodus: Tales from the Enchanted Kingdom
ZsaZsa Zaturnnah Ze Moveeh
Ouija
Resiklo
Sundo

If they are not encoded in surround, then there's a problem with encoding the DVD Masters which I will research further so in my Dolby projects this year I can already find a solution to this. I suspect that the production houses that prepare the DVD masters don't pass through the right steps in encoding, probably an added reason why we have lower quality DVD releases.
Thanks to the PMPC for the award - Digital Movie Sound Engineer of the year in the 28th Star Awards!
