What TV Show deserves a movie?
« on: Jul 09, 2009 at 06:15 PM »
A TV show is where you can explore many things. You can't simply do that in a movie. But TV shows could be adapted into a movie, too. Think of your favorite TV shows, think of a plot that will make its movie and why do you think it deserves a movie.

Here are some examples of TV shows that have movies:

Dead Like Me
Firefly ( cancelled but turned into a movie called Serenity)
The X-Files ( 2 movies produced )
Sex and the City
Battlestar Galactica ( 1 mini series and 2 TV Movies)
Buffy the Vampire Slayer ( inspired the Cult Hit Series)
The Terminator ( inspired "The Sarah Connor Chronicles )
Even Stevens (TV Movie)
Hannah Montana
Lizzie McGuire
Unfabulous (TV Movie)
Drake and Josh (TV Movie)
Wizards of Waverly Place
Twin Peaks
Super Sweet 16
Jackass
24

so, share your thoughts.

Lost producers have said that the series will end with next year's finale. After 6 years of cliffhangers, it would be unfair to the loyal viewers to end the series with a cliffhanger then  answer everything in a movie.

Not too sure if a two hour Lost movie would work unless it's a spin-off on one of the characters: Ecko, the Dharma guys etc.

that would be a total rip-off. they should just publish comic books like what they did to Buffy Season 8.

That probably wouldn't work with a show like Lost where viewers spend season after season of mystery just to get to the finale when all is revealed. To extend that into another medium would be something of a rip-off,too.

Most movies based on shows that work are based on shows that are long gone or have been cancelled without closure. There may have been some good ones but most have failed miserably.

The OK to good  ones:
Cowboy Bebop
Jackass
Miami Vice
Mission Impossible
Serenity
Spongebob Squarepants
The Untouchables
X Files I Want To Believe
,

The terrible ones

Addams Family
Aeon Flux
Avengers
Charlie's Angels
Hannah Montana
Lost in Space
Mister Magoo
The Mod Squad
Rocky and Bullwinkle
Sex and the City
SWAT
Transformers
Wild Wild West
etc.etc.

Not always a good idea - - making movies out of Tv shows. But I'd go see a Deadwood movie. And maybe a 2 hour finale of Carnivale.

Much as the Millennium episode of X Files was decent and answered some questions, a proper finale to that other great Chris Carter series of the 90s would be awesome. Millennium, of course.

Pushing Daisies was unsettling enough. They should make a movie directed by Tim Burton.

A proper movie for The Pretender - the movies that came out didn't give the series a proper closure.

Yup, I think this will be a perfect fit.

Still hoping for a Justice League movie (that won't suck)

Cancelled shows need a movie:

Veronica Mars
The OC
Pushing Daisies
Eli Stone

and I'm hoping for a Chuck movie. that would be totally awesome.

Heroes should end with a movie. They should get it over with! Heroes sucks now. Season 2 and 3 are complicated seasons. WHY THE HECK DID THEY WRITE OFF KRISTEN BELL'S CHARACTER?? I HATE THEM!!

um, why? everything was neatly wrapped in the final episode, with Ryan's character coming full circle as it's implied that he takes a young boy under his wing, much like what happened to him in the pilot.

I just feel sorry for the show. I mean it got cancelled. But, yeah, you're right.

I really want a Bryan Fuller movie of his series. Crossover movie between Wonderfalls, Dead Like Me and Pushing Daisies. Sadly, all series were canceled by ungrateful networks (ABC, Showtime)...

Everything went downhill after they killed off Marissa.

Everything went downhill after they killed off Marissa.

It went downhill for Mischa Barton, too. She was "saddened" by her character getting killed off.
