For my surprise our Measy x7 2.2 andoird is not going to be up datable to android 2.3.it seems that needs some "soldering" to be fix.
MEASY is not fixing all the issues that we have already sent to them. This is the second time and the LAST that i buy a product from MEASY. The support respond to you the first 2 times you send an email then it relay sucks.
They don't care about the client. it seems that they does not know enough to develop a device.
The SPECS that are posted are FAKE the cpu does not get to 1ghz it is scaled to 600mhz.
also i can believe how they can show their face into CES 2012 if they provide this kind of support. in USA they make pay the company's that lies to their clients or does not provide the adequate support.
Only buy this product if the Sellers can validate that the devices has andoird 2.3 installed on it. if not DONT BUY IT

First of all what i did was flash the device and install the latest firmware. i has some good updates on the android os like many other languages and other little things.
The flashing procedure is the following.(BE Aware of doing this you may brick the device only doit if you realy needed or are interested in doing it.)
1) Download firmware from: http://www.measy.com.cn/download/download.php?en=en&class1=13&class2=47 (http://www.measy.com.cn/download/download.php?en=en&class1=13&class2=47)
2) uncompress the V1026.rar
3) copy update.zip to SD card. ( not need unzip the file) (copy to the root directory)
4) Put the SD card slot into the media player slot.
5) Select update icon to upgrade FW.
note: you can use the Udrive or pendrive or usb memory to do this also.
When the device restart will try to mount the image from the SD or the Udrive if it is no recognized you have an option to select from where do you want to start the flashing.
note: by the moment i dont have the original firmware.

Remote controller: yes and is very hi quality (but annoying when you need to play around android apps this kind of media players need a controller with gyroscope like the FV-1 media player)
Some testing that i did:
First of all i noticed that if i put n 1080P the images gets out from the frame of the TV or they are not shown it is like cut. (will be investigating how to fix this)

There you can download a lot of video samples that are the one when you go to your TV shop. they are great and very high quality.
i have downloaded 3 videos 1080p and they played very smooth.
i did down load the spider-man trailer 1080p and did played well too. ]( want to test an 1080P action movie, or these the screen of the flying birds of the discovery channel documentary that you can see millions of them "this is a very hard test")
Tested 2 720p video and played smooth too. (did not watched the complete movie this i will need to test too)
I will be doing more test with the video playing to check how smooth videos are being played.
i was able to load subtitles they don't have outline colors possibles (white, yellow and blue) Note: you can download any video player for android and test it.
What i noticed was that standard quality videos shown with the new firmware looks better than with the original one.

Android Applications:
The device does not brings basically no application installed. it has the one to view the videos / photos and mp3 and other to install application from the udrive or sd.
NOTE: applications are by default installed on the SD card. you cant install in the free memory of the device or into the HD or the Udrive.
It does not brings Android marke yet: I was told that it will be included in the next firmware.
I was not able to synchronize the device with google account you cant use android market if this can be done. also if it is not done, you cant use gmail apk, or google docs or any application that needs google to be logged in
I have installed Adownload (bittorrent client its working and downloading into the hard drive) GOOOD i will be doing some more test on this.
note: be aware that the hard drive not always is mounted on the same path. so if you have application that need to read or write to the hdd first check the hdd location. i have reported this probably it will be fixed in followings updates.
the web browser works good.
i will be posting more findings and likes and dislikes.....
must haves:
The firmware should be really worked to make the product much more that is today.
The launcher of the media player menu should be stylish like the e8hd or similar.
Apps should be able to be installed in the device or SD
controller should have gyroscope
Some settings should be added it has little options availability
it should connect with andriod market and google account.
hd should had reserved a mount point.

here are new findings.
internal storage 1.75GB (applications are not installed there so it really does not matter what can you do there, because you cant install the apps there)
update: apps are instaled on th internal memmory but you need a SD to be installed on the device.
CPU:AML8726-M "1ghz"
CPU Frequency Range: 200mhz to 800mhz
CPU Scaling RANGE: 200mhz to 600mhz
SCREEN:
in 1080p the image of the screen goes out of the screen.
in 720P the image is sliced from the sides.
File sharing SAMBA
Samba is not installed so you cant use the device as NAS server. You cant install the application because the Android should be Rooted and it is not. so i will need to investigate further on how to do this.
You can access from the device to you other shared directories from your network like your notebook or other pc.(the soft is in chineese, also has a bug when you type the ip that does not shows you well what are you typing) not able to test this yet, cant make it work.
P2P
Bit torrent is not installed or any other p2p software. (soft that i have installed and tested are:
adownloader: has an issue that does not let you download files bigger that 4gb i have already reported that bug. for smaller files work perfect and very quick.
ttorrent: did work well to and let you download files over 4gb.
Lets talk about some apps that should be installed to make it add more value.
Grooveshark: (needs payed subscription, or similar app) its an app that lets you listen tons of on demand music files.
TuneIn Radio: has hundres of radios to be listen online from all the world
Doplhin Browser HD: its a web browser very good Designed
Flash 10.3: nothing to comment.
Adobe pdf reader or similar.
Advance Task killer (or similar task manager): this apps let you kill applications that were left opened and are using memory (we have few)
RSS reader / news reader.
Android Market (it is not installed)
TV whatching app.
SAMBA HD SHARING.
for the people that likes to play
angry birds
cut the rope
Fruit Slice
Mahjong
4 in a row
etc
HARD DRIVE
I little issue that i found was, if you have installed a hard drive and you boot the device with a usb drive connected the hard drive will be mounted to an other directory that was not mounted before. so if you have applications configured to "download files so some directory" or "look photos from the hardrive" you will never get them you will need to redirect the directories or un plug the usb and restar the player
The work around is: dont start the device with a usb drive installed

fiscally it looks nice. The case is made from metal and plastic. (not aluminum)
the remote controller looks and feels grate.

Basically it has the same as any other media player on this screen.
The other launcher goes to a view as you are in a tablet pc, so there you can access directly to any soft that is installed on the media player.
There you can personalize you desktop with live wallpapers, pictures as a wall paper you can install widgets, so you can see the weather, stocks, a clock, and all kind of widgets that you can imagine

It has an app that scan the sd or udrive for akp files and directly shows all that you have there, so you can clic them an install it or remove them. it work perfect.
so you need to download the APK file from the web and use the application to install or remove them.
a apk repository that im using is www.apktop.com there are lots of applications, there are not all that are in android market but has a lot of them and has the paid version to download them for free.
it like a small PC you can do anything that you can imagine, there are more than 360.000 aps that can be installed.

instant messenger (aol, msn, skype, yahoo, facebook, tweeter, etc)

p2p applications
emulator for N64, Nes, Snes, Gba, Gbc, Atari, Sega Genesis, Sega Master System, Sega Gamegear, MAME, commodore and any old machine that you can imagine. applications to watch tv online
system applications cpu, memmory, testing, etc.
pdf readers, ebook readers kindle, etc.
application to send to print to your home printer connected to your pc
as you can imagine its near what can most of the people do with his pc.
hilly recommended to use a wireless mouse or a flymouse.
How i wish you can do the same work for the Egreat latest R300S and R200S, since both run android.

It's good to hear feedback from the expert. Measy X7 coming soon this November in Phil :-)
if you can tel them this are the basic stuff that are missing to have them to correct on the device.
I have received information from measy that the processor is 1GHZ but all the test i did did never reach over 600mhz
Also they confirm me that the device has 512MB ram, but all test i did were showing (TOTAL) 189MB ram.
both too issues should be fixed or corrected. may be something not implemented as it should on the firmware.
Key missing things are:
1 - Samba server not installed ( can only be installed if the media player is rooted)
2 - Android Market not installed ( i had information that will be added in the next update of the firmware)
3 - P2P soft not installed (you can install it - this is published as it has the product and it is not installed)
4 - Fix the screen size in 720 and 1080, also in lower resolution the image it CUT.
5 - Fix that the hard drive is auto assigned always to the same mounting point. because if you put a usb 6 6 - drive and boot the device with it connected. the hard drive is mounted into an other mounting point.
7 - Add filtering of ads servers and spammer on the host file. this is very simple to do it does not take more that 5 minutes to do this. they should install addfree apk on a rooted system an copy the hostfile then to a new firmware.
8 - Application to suft shared drives on the network it is in chineese i was not able to make it work.
9 - Video player does not support subtitles from this side of the world that has characters like ó,á,é,í,ñ, etc.
10 - Task manager / task killer app should be installed
11 - The online content is poor it not has much should be updated.
12 - application to see podcast should be installed
13 - application to see TV / Movies should be installed
14 - Make by default install APK on the internal memory of the device, also add the option to move the apk to the SD.
15 - in the Settings option add more options that are not present, example ( configure the bright and contrast, etc)
16 - Provide a controller with gyroscope this will make the huge different when you interact with the device. (example FV-1 media player or flymouse ) until this is possible add a wireless mouse
17 - make usb / SD be detected Faster
18 - Using hdmi connector) if the device is started and the tv is not set to view hdmi, then when you change to the hdmi in the tv you only see a black screen (this may be my tv but dont know).
19 - look and feel update, the booting image of the droid could be better.
20 - Look and feel the main screen them should be Stylish as any other media player.
21 - firmware when updated stats in chineese will be "better" to start in English or have a 1 first time boot to configure the language of the interface.
22 - Look and Feel the case android logo should be illuminated differently like "mac" or something like that
it is a good device and interesting. some little things should be fixed. to be grate. i realy need to investigate further about the CPU issue and the memory issue.

I have not tested to fully download a >4gb i tested a 6.6gb file but i did cut the download, in the middle of the file and did work very well.
ttorrent client does not have te limit of the 4gb file that has some other torrent clients.

I have tested ttorrent bit torrent client have downloaded a movie of 7.7gb fast, about 250kb/h, it took like 9hs to download it.
About the movie how does it do the play back, by the moment that im watching it it does it very well have not noticed frames skipping yet. Im using the default media player that it provided with the X7

Little review about Downloading torrents
Finally yesterday i decided to down load a 11.1gb also i downloaded other about 7.7 gb and other about 700mb, all of them did download really fast, and i did not have any issue about downloading files over 4gb. i had used T-torrent client. it is fast and stable. Downloading the files did not affect the general performance of the device.

About the play back:
i have tested:
Video 1920*816 / 8,020 kbps did not have any issue no frame skipping.
Video 1920*1080 / 9,640 kbps did not have any issue no frame skipping.
and i did some other test of full hd at 8000kbs and did play it very smooth.
Test were done with the default video player.

About the sound quality it is good i heard on the tv so i cant really say how really good it is. I have tested FLAC files but with the default player i was not able to listen them i had downloaded an other player and did play it very well.

new little bug that i noticed. is when you connect the player to you USB and use it like a hard drive. it does un mount from the android. And when you un plugged from your computer it does not auto load again i have to reboot the device.
Also it is common to have the file system corrupted. because when you turn off the device it automaticaly shuts down and does not power off as it should.
this same issue has allready e8hd media player.

X5 looks promising you have android and the media player software in a dual boot option. good chipset too rtl1186 at 750mhz. 512ram ddr3

Thinking more in cold, now that i have tested little better, what i can say you don't need to think that this how the player will end, it really has unlimited possibilities. android market has like 300.000 apps and games. so if one of the app does not fit your needs, you download other and that's all.

There are some little things that are going to be fixed and they are realy easy to do so, this will be updated soon.
Keep in mind that this year and next one will be the years of the tablet applications that will be able to be installed on the device so there will be tons of upgrades and porting to android. this really thrills me and opens millions of opportunities.
Its a time matter that's all. un limited opportunities and wide frontiers. i invite you to take initiative and make the device any kind of thing that you can image or fit your needs. does not think that it is a media player only it is much more than that. :)
Keep in mind that most of the apps are still develop for Cellphone so this year probably will be migrated to tablet screens so the willl be providing much more options and better experiences. Also keep in mind that cellphone now a day have very very big processors and memory even larger than any media player so the ir a wide range of new opportunities on the software.

Here are some Technical Hardware specification of the main micro processor Amlogic AML8726-M.
General Description
AML8726‐M device is designed for the connected MID, tablet, STB, and TV applications. It integrates a power CPU, a 2D/3D graphics subsystem and a state‐of‐the arts video decoding engine with all major peripherals to form the ultimate multimedia SoC.
The application processor is an ARM Cortex‐A9 CPU with L1 instruction and data cache and a large L2 unified cache to improve system performance. In addition, the Cortex‐A9 CPU includes the NEON SIMD co‐processor to improve software media processing capability. The ARM Cortex‐A9 CPU can run up to 1GHz and has a wide bus connecting to the memory sub‐system.

The audio optimized MediaCPU is available for audio decoding to off‐load computation tasks from the ARM Cortex‐A9 CPU. The video decoder sub‐system can decode all HD video formats.
H.264, RealVideo, MPEG 1/2/4, VC‐1/WMV and JPEG/MJPEG streams are processed by dedicated hardware together with the flexible dual MediaDSP engines. In addition to video decoding, the video decoding engine is also capable of decoding JPEG pictures with no size limitation.
A crypto‐processor accompanies the CPU and media decoding engines to handle encrypted traffic and media streams. The cryptographic processor provides hardware based random number generator and supports DES, 3DES, AES and DVB‐DS standards.
The SoC integrates many advanced peripherals inside including 10/100 Ethernet MAC; 3Gbps SATA and dual USB highspeed ports; multi‐standards card controller and transport‐demux processor. The flexible and programmable QoSbased switch fabric and memory controller tie all the processing cores and peripherals together and connects to the DDR2 memory bus. The build‐in videoDAC and HDMI transmitter supports external TV connections while the internal RGB digital output and LCD timing controller supports LCD panel.
DTV broadcasting streams can be received by the dual transport stream (TS) interfaces. Both serial SPI and parallel SPI are supported. The received streams can be saved in external storage devices for PVR applications. DVB Common Descrambler 1.0 is supported in addition to DES, Triple DES (TDES/3DES) and AES streaming crypto formats. An integrated ISO7816 controller is included for interfacing to external smart card.

I have a 3TB external HDD connected to X7, which has movies, music & photos.
I have no problems with playing the movies & music from this HDD using the supplied or downloaded media players.
But photos is the problem.
The 'Gallery' app displays photos from HDD in very poor resolution (as if it is just magnifying the thumbnail).
Photos in SDcard are displayed perfectly.
Now if I open file explorer & select the same photo, by selecting 'open using Gallery' the photo is displayed perfectly. But I have to then go back to File Browser, select the next photo etc to view each photo correctly.
Have you experienced this ?

I have experienced exactly the same.
we need to get a good photo viewer, i have not tested them yet due i have not much pictures to watch. but i have the same issue.
it may be something on how it is configured by default we need to investigate little more an see if this can be corrected.
i will be sending this issue to measy so they can correct it on the next firmware. ;)
by the moment we need to look for a good picture player ;)

the AML8726-M. chip does support by defaulty a 3TB HD. i have a 2tb and i have no issues.
if you have differents partitions on the hard drive, it show them in different directories example:
you have a drive with 3 partitions you will find them like that.

I have installed Z4root this application does root your Measy x7 Mediaplayer. this is a very good news. due we can install much more applications.

When you click to root your device it provides you 2 options:
a) temporary root
b) permanent root.
i have done the permanent root. it takes about 5 minutes to do it. so be very very patient. Then the application says that is going to be rebooted.

about the hard drive i have a 2tb and works perfect also i explained that the device supports 3tb hard drives. this comment has nothing to do about how pictures are shown.

We will need to find a good pic viewer that can access the HD
note: did you try to make a link from the SD to the hard drive? is that possible? (did not tested yet)

Something that is annoying in android is that all free apps has Ads this a pain in the a....s.
So with the x7 Rooted with Z4root as i explain before. i have installed adfree app.

AdFree removes most ads in the browser and other apps. It does this by nullifying requests to known host names in the system hosts file.
So it will be more pleasant experience not viewing all the adds while your are playing or using a free app.

However, I just cannot sign in to my Google account.
whenever I try to sign in, I get the progress bar for some time, then I get a message :
"Cannot establish a reliable connection to Google Servers. If problem persists contact customer care".
I have never been able to sign in so far.

the issue is that the device is not recognized. so you cant login. i have not tested trying to install the market with the player rooted.
my tests will be with market 2.2 and 3.11. then i will let you know my findings.
what i have know is that for the next firmware measy will include the market.

I had installed Android Market with X7 rooted.
That was not a problem.
Even with Market installed, the problem of logging in to Google still remains.
Measy needs to get X7 registered with A.Market, or it needs to spoof/fake another registered device.

Another issue is that at power-up, the clock is always 05:30, & date 1-1-1970.
If I have selected 'update from network' in settings, the clock corrects itself after 2-3 minutes.
The problem is some apps (like news) don't work properly with wrong date, & I have to wait till the date corrects itself (or set it manually everytime).

i have tested some ones that i have downloaded and i was not able to make it work too.

Trying my EGreat r300 and it can login google fine, strange why Measy x7 won't login google fine.
it only an app issue. measy is going to release the new firmware with market working.
we have covered the app installation thought other available markets around the world. please verify the posts earlier done. Keep in mind that android is not like APPLE they allow to have multiple apps markets. so there are a lots in all the web
you only need to type in google. android market or apk market. that all.
about r300 device, we dont know if it the real android market can be any of them. usually Chinese vendors offer an other market that is not the "original".

The time zone is configured though Time server. so you will only need to wait some minutes to make the date gets updated.

Finally i was able to install android market i did study a little but finally its up and running.
it is very simple.

unzip the file into the SD card and install them into the following order. dont open the apps when you finished installing them.
install:
1 - OneTimeInitializer-signed.apk
2 - SetupWizard-signed.apk
3 - GoogleServicesFramework-signed.apk
4 - vending-3.1.3-signed.apk
5 - Reboot the device
Go to the settings menu. --> accounts & sync settings
Select background data and auto-sync
Thats all. it does work using ethernet connection and WIFI
note: if some one wants to do some testing dont install the following
1 - OneTimeInitializer-signed.apk
2 - SetupWizard-signed.apk
then let me know if it runs the market ;)
remember to reboot the device
UPDATE: i did install the following pagages only and did workperfect.

The applications are not hardware dependent so it should work. Some times it depend the device so if does not work you can do an other work around to make it work too.
you cant test it on a tablet as an example.

Yesterday I connected my old E8HD to the USB port of X7, to view the files from it's internal HDD.
Then suddenly my USB ports stopped working (WiFi dongle/ Keyboard/mouse / Ext. HDD dead) !
I tried to force upgrade, but cannot (due to USB not working) & for some reason, it also does not read update from SDCard while updating.
I have mailed Measy. Hope I won't have to ship it to them. Bad luck :-(

try to do this.
reboot the device with the reset button or go to the firmware upgrade icon, it will open the menu for upgrading the firmware. there it is an option that says Factory data reset. or you can do the factory data reset in the settings menu inside the privacy.
i did had some issues wile upgrading my device it did not read the SD or the usb. what i did was format again the USB in 16bit and did work perfect.
note: some times it takes more than 10 seconds to recognize the usb. i did used the port located in the back.

I know that other Android-Player competitors support DVD ROM.
I have many DVDs of movies, so it is very difficult to copy files from DVD to X7 !!

you should ask them to make a DVD ripper if they later support USB DVD ROM, :) that would be a really cool app.
A300 can rip CDrom, to mp3 lossless, which i think can be done anywhere if apps exist, but what would really be something as an equivalent ripper for DVD or HD DVD :) that'll be awesome , and sold as a way to "backup your HD-DVD" to your NMT.

Really what does or not other media player this is not the place to chat about it. x7 can do millions of things and we are not posting in other post that is not related.
good and bad things are being publish.
you need to understand that this is not a only media player its a media entrainment system. it does a lot of more things that view movies and listen mp3. as we publish before the firmware is being updated with new features and bugs be fixed. Measy is used to update the firmwares very often. and they fix issues that users request.

by the way if someone wants to criticize any device:
1 - First compare 2 devices with the same hardware.
2 - Second before criticize buy the device. So you can speak for your personal real experience.
im tired of seen post of other devices and someone says that the ones he sells are better based in any real fact. What i have seen most of the players has the same hardware so the difference will be the soft how it is implemented. and have in mind that can be updated.
to the people that consider audiophile or videophile if you realy are what you are saying please buy a expensive hi end player we are talking about Bang & Olufsen, Bose or any hi end product. be seriuos before critize. also this kind of people should be thinking in original media and not pirated if they realy are so demanding-

new little bug that i noticed. is when you connect the player to you USB and use it like a hard drive. it does un mount from the android. And when you un plugged from your computer it does not auto load again i have to reboot the device.
Also it is common to have the file system corrupted. because when you turn off the device it automaticaly shuts down and does not power off as it should.
this same issue has allready e8hd media player.

i have just installed the new firmware.
i was able to use android market. try doing click on the icon of the market located on the second desktop of the right.

Findings: (updated) reupdate 05-12-2011
1) It does boot faster.
2) I did access market though the icon that is in the second desktop from the right.
3) Movies are showing the subs ok (UPDATE:i have tested with other subs and i still see chinese characters)
4) Music is auto loaded to the default media player ;) it does auto load the music on the hard drive. im testing today and it is not showing me all the music y need to search it on the hard drive.
5) images using gallery are still being watched very low res (this should be fixed)
6) some others improvements i have noticed im still investigating.
7) Android market is installed. is not working as expected. some times it takes time to make it connect and shows very few apps.
the device first boot is in Chinese you will need to config it in your language and then reboot the device.
i will be posting updates.

i was able to scale the cpu to 800mhz this are the steps that should be following.
first of all you will need to have the device rooted. as we explained before.

Shows information about the hardware if you run this app first you will see that the cpu is 600mhz then when you run antutu cpu masters and reboot the device you will see the benchmark cpu at 800mhz.

oi will be testing the device if it hangs with this new update.
update: i did un rar a file of 2gb and listen music and did not hang or make the music cut. also a was able to watch 720 or 1080 files and did not had any issue.

when the device is flashed with the new firmware all old information on the memory of the device is deleted so you need to start from Zero.

An application that i tested to un rar files is Unrar Pro 1.5b
it is a very basic application but dose the job.

note: what i have noticed is that if the file name and the directory where you are unraring the file has spaces it does not do the unrar so you will need to rename the folder an the file.
the test i did was a file about 1.4gb and it took 12 minutes to unrar the file. also i was able to here music with any issue during the unrar. ;)
I have being investigating a little there are other rar manager i will be doine a better research on this
update: i did test other file archivers to unrar and did not work was not able to unrar the file on the same directory or it hang the application, etc. the test was on files of 700mb or biggers.

i think it became with flash 10.2 and did install 10.3 and did work perfect also today i installed flash 11 and did work too as expected.

my question realquestion or doubt was if the player works with adobe air applications. i did install it and download some games and they did work too :D
as we know adoble flash is not going to be supported any longer by adobe it still have long life. but adobe air is what is going to replace flash so i was interested in learning about it.

Thank you for the app. it is a good idea to make back up before installing new firmware. yesteday i did spent some time reinstalling software. and today i was to investigate how to develop a scritp to auto install all the app if i copy them into a pendrive. but MyBackup Pro should do the job.

File sharing over windows network.
I finaly did install the Samba server. it is realy easy to implement the only issue by the moment is that the file sharing is only thought wifi and not network. i will be sending an email to the developer so they can update the software so file sharing is done thought ethernet.

I finally upgraded the x7 fw, after seeing tatubias settling in.
Its a work in progress, but over time its bugs will go away.
X7 works better than before, thanks to the pictures in the thread that came in quite helpful.

Here are the steps to install other andorid market. i will provide version 1.8 due i have tested and works.
note: the firmware that im using is the last provided here in the forum by terminator.

Set the google account
1) go to settings options.
2) go to account and sync
3) selectreverence data
4) Automatic sync
5) create a new account (follow the steps)
How to install market 1.8
1 - Root the device (we have allready explain how)
2 - With root explorer go to /system/app
3 - Rename vending.apk to vending.apk.old

5 - Copy the file to the Udrive or SD
6 - Open appinstaller

one new thing that i have realize on the firmware that has provided terminator is. when you connect the mediaplayer to your notebook the hard drive is not unmounted from the android device. ;) thats a good one.
so you can access the hd while you are using android.
i still recomend to keep with the V1026.rar firmware version until they release a official update.

i have found the key information to bouilt you own FIRMWARE for the measy x7 mediaplayer. (it does work with other amlogic boards, etc. (use this at your own risk)
Setting up Your Machine
To build the Android source code, you will need to use Ubuntu.
On Ubuntu Linux (32-bit x86), please make sure you have the following:
* Git 1.5.4 or newer and the GNU Privacy Guard.
* JDK 5.0, update 12 or higher. Java 6 is not supported, because of incompatibilities with @Override.

To build kernel for this board, you should do:

Recovery system only support update.zip on FAT partition, so please rename your update file name to update.zip.

Running the Android on SD Card
You can run Android from SD card on the M1 reference board platform.
You will need to prepare the SD card as follow:
$ sudo fdisk /dev/<your sdcard,for example sdd>
Command (m for help): p
Disk /dev/sdd: 1977 MB, 1977614336 bytes
64 heads, 63 sectors/track, 957 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 4032 * 512 = 2064384 bytes

Format the partitions using the following commands:

Download a kernel the Android release from [http://openlinux.amlogic.com/download/linux/android/release/ here] and placed it in the FAT32 partition:
$ sudo mkdir -p /mnt/fat32
$ sudo mount /dev/sdd1 /mnt/fat32
$ sudo cp uImage.android /mnt/fat32
Unpack the Android rootfs tarball prepared earlier onto the EXT2 partition:
$ sudo mkdir -p /mnt/ext3
$ sudo mount /dev/sdd2 /mnt/ext3
$ sudo tar jxfv out/target/product/m1ref/rootfs.tar.bz2 --numeric-owner -C /mnt/ext3

Now you can take the SD card and insert into the M1 reference board, at the uboot command line prompt, issue the following command:

Running the Android on Nand Flash
*Run Android on Nand Flash, after you burn the whole Android system.
At the uboot command line prompt, issue the following command:

You can use the update.zip to update your Android now.
How to generate SSH public key
Follow the steps below to generate your SSH public key on Linux.

Some notes:
1 - the default player does play back Subtitles srt with a MKV movie.
a) you only need to copy the file into the same directory with the same name.
b) then open the movie. goto the menu,
c) click con ... ,
d) then click con T and enable the subtitles.
e) there you can change the size and color.
2 - When updating the firmware you do the steps as required and usb or SD is not read so device is not flashed and i gets only to the flash screen.
Standard Steps to flash the device
I placed the update.zip file in the SD card and started the device.
Then I clicked on firmware upgrade link.
The device got rebooted and stucked at recovey mode.
The error message is
Android system recovery <3e>
E: can't mount /dev/block/cardblksd1
(invalid argument)
E: Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
and it keeps saying Can't mount /sdcard
Dont panic it only did not read the SD memory.
Some times does happends that. you only need a pendrive formated into fat32 and Then copy the update.zip file into the root directory. the plug it into the device. reboot it or select the otion to read the firmware from the usb.
Thats all the device will read the usb and flash the device as expected.

for thoes that does not have a wifi dongle on the device. not all dongles are compatible with the device it seams that Realtek ones are compatible.
i have a realtek RTL8191S and its detected by the device and works perfect.
Steps to make wifi works:
0 - connect wifi dongle to the usb
1 - go to the android menu
2 - go to settings
3 - go to wifi network.
4 - enable wifi network.
5 - configure wifi network.

About the app that shows the movies like in gallery format really dont know. i was not interested in this specific issue. but go to https://market.android.com/ there search the app and then tested let us know how good i is. then search it in Google adding apk after the name of the application and download.
About the music player you can use basically any other player like moboplayer; Meridian Media Player; winamp; and there are TONS of this kind of apps.
in the default player music is scanned into the devices.

it has a lots of improvements compared to the one that is installed by default.
this other http://depositfiles.com/files/b2yvsbg9v is a non official firmware released by measy, it does work ok. and brings with android market. and other little stuff. but i dont know which are the bigs changes. i think the next update of the firmware will be based on this firmware. you can test it and playit and let us know which are the differences.

Anyway, another question, is there a safe way to remove the usb stick like in windows? Or do we just plug it out immediately. Sometimes when I plug the usb out immediately, the system will hang occasionally throughout so I have to restart.

1026 is a date: October 26. and the firmware changes are minimums by the moment you will not noticed unless you investigate a lot. go to settings --> about the phone (the last option) --> in the new screen you will see at the end the version of firmware that you have installed. (number of compilation.)
example for 1026 version: it says MASTER.eng.ricky.20111026.121812 check if the not oficial firmware says that is newer that that date. if not keep with 1026 version.

by the moment i un plug it did not find any option to do that. there are some apps you will need to download and thest them that un mount usb.
please test them and let us know if they did work and provide the links.

how to unbrick the device if does not boot as expected. if you install an application and this application make the player does not boot you can do the following so you can recover the system.
Follow the steps it should work.
1 - Turn off the player
2 - In the back it is a reset button press it don't release until i say
3 - Turn on the device
4 - It will take you to the Flash firmware screen
5 - Release reset button
6 - Use the remote control select set default factory settings or re flash with the firmware.
7 - Will restart the device as new

I see, I thought the firmware version can be seen in the "Firmware" menu on the top left. Anyway the unofficial update renamed the "Firmware" menu to "System Updates".

1 - you don't need to re format the hd you can use the old one that you have. the player does not bring a format hd option so you willl need to do that on your pc.
2 - the remote controller has a button to change the out put from HDMI to AV. hdmi is the default. it is the one that is located on right of the play pause button.
keep posting with your findings so we can learn more aboút the player. also is very recomended to upgrade the firmware.

by the moment what i did to fix it. was to connect the Hd to my pc, or you can do it though the BLUE usb connector.
then when is detected by the pc you can run chkdsk <drive> /f and fix or correct the issues on the devices.
then reboot the mediaplayer and you should be able to see all files as expected.

1. I'm also having issues with my internal HD not being read. Though I am not sure if its NTFS or FAT32, but everytime I boot the player, it doesn't read the HD. I still have to do several restarts until it reads. It's kinda frustrating. I tried to plug the disk in my PC, but it gave several errors during boot that's why I can't determine if its NTFS or FAT.
What is the BLUE usb connector?
2. Anynway to revert to the old firmware? The recent one (the unofficial one) doesn't show the "Update" button anymore.

1. I'm also having issues with my internal HD not being read. Though I am not sure if its NTFS or FAT32, but everytime I boot the player, it doesn't read the HD. I still have to do several restarts until it reads. It's kinda frustrating. I tried to plug the disk in my PC, but it gave several errors during boot that's why I can't determine if its NTFS or FAT.

If you want a complete mediaplayer solution by x5 i has greats options. and also you can use andoird. if you want to play arround and have a mediaplayer you can buy x7.
x7 cpu is scaled to 600mhz you will need to up scale to 800. but it does never reaches 1ghz as is published. (unless they release a new version of the firmwre that unlock the power to 1ghz.

you need to plug it only it does not use any driver. (the dongle should be compatible with the device you cant use any dongle. please check earlier posts we have already covered this point ;) )

i have a realtek RTL8191S and its detected by the device and works perfect.
Steps to make wifi works:
0 - connect wifi dongle to the usb
1 - go to the android menu

@mrjohn yes you can use the media player as a usb Hard drive.
do the following if it does not work.
1 - shut down the media player
2 - plug the player to the PC (using usb)
3 - turn on the player
4 - wait until it starts-
5 - check witch is the drive on the windows machine
6 - run chkdsk <drive> /f
7 - reboot media player.
if not connect the hard drive to the pc (put the drive as secondary so it does not boot from it). then run chkdsk on it.

For downloading files with bit torrent you can use usb memorys the SD or a hard drive. i recomend obiuly a HD installed or a usb hd.

a wifi dongle with RTL8818 CHIPSET should also work (this info was provided by measy i did not test it)

if you are using the web browser to access the gmail account you should no have any issue.
if you are using the gmail application you should register the account first.
go to settings
the go to accounts
then register google account.
you should be using the latest firmware to be able to login. It is the firmware that has the market the v1110.
or if you dont have the market install google framework then you will be able to register you account.
if you dont have google framework you can check one of the previous post there i explain how to install google market. and there it is the google framework.

yes that's the one work for me and i can browse now. my problem is i got erro when im signing my gmail account to use the android market.

some guy from india did happened the same.
try first web surfing a little to be sure that you have connectivity to the internet.
then in the Launcher go to the second desktop on the right. there you will see a MARKET icon. click on it.
register a new account or log with yours.
if it does not connect try doing that or registering various times. until you can get connected. that happened to me the first time then i did never had any issue on sync with google.
other thing you can do is try to register the account if does give you an error close the application and try to open again and register again.
1 you should have installed firmware V1110 or have installed the market and working.
2 remember the market is not implemented as it should so it is not showing all the apps ont expect much about the market.

as i comment before about samba file server that by the moment does not support the ntfs partition. i had sent some time ago a email to the developer of the application. today he contacted me and ask me to send the logfile of the application. if we have luck for the next update will be fixed ;) :D
also i did try to explain that if wifi is not on. the software shows the message that you should enable wifi to work, and it does not work using ethernet connector.

I have not tested to fully download a >4gb i tested a 6.6gb file but i did cut the download, in the middle of the file and did work very well.
ttorrent client does not have te limit of the 4gb file that has some other torrent clients.

Little review about Downloading torrents
Finally yesterday i decided to down load a 11.1gb also i downloaded other about 7.7 gb and other about 700mb, all of them did download really fast, and i did not have any issue about downloading files over 4gb. i had used T-torrent client. it is fast and stable. Downloading the files did not affect the general performance of the device.

If you want to put ip filtering into Ttorrent you can do the following.
1 - Down load the IP filter pack from: http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/nipfilter.dat.gz (http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/nipfilter.dat.gz)
2 - Copy it into /sdcard/torrent (don't uncompress it copy it as nipfilter.dat.gz)
3 - open T torrent
4 - Go to settings
5 - Go to network Settings
6 - Click on Enable IP Filtering.
7 - Select the path /sdcard/torrent (it is already added by default)
8 - Restart the Ttorrent application.
9 - When ttorrents it restart it pops ups a message thats says that filters are loaded.
note: if you are more paranoid you can use this other list http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/pipfilter.dat.gz (http://www.bluetack.co.uk/config/pipfilter.dat.gz) remember to update the name of the file during the configuration.

Bluetooth by the moment is not supported. i have connected a Bluetooth dongle and was not detected by the device. If the keyboard uses Bluetooth and drivers are not needed it may work. but i have not tested.
as toys4geeks says you can use a wireless 2.4 ghz keyboard its a good option. and they work.

i have 2tb hd inside the x7 and works perfect. i think you will not have any issue connecting the 2tb through usb.

On Satrurday (7th Jan) I received my X7 repaired from Measy. Seems to work OK now.
Now I can access Market, but there is one issue with Market.
It seems X7 is not a recognized device in The Market.
So when you browse apps, very few apps are displayed.
If I browse for 'Games' I only see 1 app, 'Solitaire'.
This is because Market cannot determine if a particular app is suitable for X7, as the specs of X7 are not registered with Market.
If I try to go to the site & browse apps, I see them all, but when I click install, I get 'There is no valid device associated with this email ID' & the 'Download' button is not shown.
Of course I have logged in with the same gmail ID i have on my device.
Measy needs to register X7 with the Market & Android community, or it needs to 'spoof' a phone or tablet whose specs are similar to X7.

Hi,
As I have mentioned in my earlier posts, there are issues with Android Market (not) recognising X7.
I have given up trying to use Market for apps.
Just try to google for the app you require. That's what I do. Flash app is also available for Android directly from Adobe site. Just google for the link.
Also you can refer to some of the older posts to see how to install apps from other sources.
Lots of links are also available on this thread for useful apps for X7.
For video, consider using Mobo-player. Its the best. Again, no use going to Android market for that. Just google for the apk file!

I have installed Z4root this application does root your Measy x7 Mediaplayer. this is a very good news. due we can install much more applications.

When you click to root your device it provides you 2 options:
a) temporary root
b) permanent root.
i have done the permanent root. it takes about 5 minutes to do it. so be very very patient. Then the application says that is going to be rebooted.

The file with the apk extension. All Android application files have only apk extension.
Anyways an error will be displayed if you try to instal a wrong type of file.

with a 3mb ADSL connection using bittorrent with good amount of seeds it takes about 18hs to 24hs.
all depends in the internet connection and if you are using. Remember that bittorrent speeds depends on the amount of seeds.
for bittorrent i recomend ttorrent.

you will need to wait untill all the files is downloaded as expeceted then the PART fiel will dissapear.
you will use the APK file to install the software. but wait untill all the application is downloaded complete.

The extension format that supports android for the applications is APK.
If the apk is corrupted will not be installed. you will try to install it but you will get an error saying that the apk i bad or something like that. so dont worry if its corrupted you are not going to be able to install it.
When you download a file into your pc and get that XXXXXX.APK.PART that means that this file is NOT the complete one. when it finished to download it you it will appear the complete name example:XXXXXX.APK and the XXXXXX.APK.PART will disappear.
also the XXXXXX.APK.PART does NOT MEANS that the file is splitted into various files it only means that is a temporary file untill the it is downloaded complete.

i did test some too i have the same issue you can test with screen.
you can test with 1240 x 690 and let us know your findings
UPDATE: im testing it should be smaller, try using a small one for cellphones then let us know
update2: it seams that its using a square wallpaper. we will need to look more around to find out which one will work.

try using the icon of the second desktop on the right to log in into google frame work. you can test doning some of the stuff that i already posted intalling the market.
your issue is not the market is that the GOOGLE FRAMEWORK does not connect. so try installing it form the 2 post that i did. (remove the one you have allready installed. the location is /system/bin/ (google framework.apk) rename it to googleframework.apk.bck.
then re isntall the google frame work that i have allready posted. and reboot the device.
keep in mind the maker basicaly does not have any application. so dont waste time in trying to installit or use it.

i was able to move the on screen possition but i was not able to rezise the image to the correct size. :( i think that im missing something and i did not undestand.

FINALLY i did "hack" the Market. was all about the the fingerprint generated by Measy was not registered or was a engineering version. i did did studied a little and did took me 10 minutes to make it work.
1 - i did reflash my device with the latest version of the player that we have posted the v1110 (the one that has the market)
2 - rooted the device with z4root
3 - this step is to do it more easy. install Absolute system (this was already posted search and install)
4 - open absolute system
5 - click on build.prop editor
6 - click on backup build.prop (if is need to recover you can)
7 - scroll down untill you see the line : ro.build.fingerprint=something else.
8 - click in that line and edit it. put the following line (no spaces):
verizon/voles/sholes/sholes:2.1-update1/ESE81/29593:user/release-keys
9 - exit editing mode
10 - click in save
11 - reboot your device.
12 - register your account in google.
13 - access android market.

i dont know why you cant create the account into google.
if you have installed the v1110 or if you installed with my tutorial you should be able to install it. and login.
to configure by hand you will need to go to the applications. theg co to the configuration.
there it says accounts & XXXXX and there you can register your google account.
you can send a email to [email protected] and ask them to fix your issue.
i did contunie playing with the fingerprints, last night and now i cant use the market either LOL :P i ill try to fix it :D
i recommend to use the apk applanet (applanet.net) its a good market also you can use the webpage apktops.com

note: dont know if this may not make connect the app to the market but make shure the time of the device is set as it should.
update: if the market says cant connect (retry) wait 5-10 minutes the it should connect.

Well, the Sales person doesn't know much about the repair, and the tech person takes days, sometimes weeks to reply (recently I had a query & I got a reply after 1 month ... shocking).
I personally believe that it was a (at least, partly) hardware issue, which they sorted out, otherwise how can the same X7 which was consistently failing on Google signup, now magically sign-in ?
I don't believe there is a pure 'soft' solution to this issue. Try replacing the X7, or repairing it thru' Measy.

it is not a hardware issue, it is only that this version of android is not registerrd and probably did not pass the compatibility test that goógle requet, more thatit may not pass i think they did never release a final version of the software and the one that is instaled is an engenering version, the fingerpint that i have added make veleve the market that is an other device, i will be trying to get a newer fingerprint so more aps are shown.

im doing some tests and i don't remember how much were in the original one.
don't put the SD test. because that will give you more or less point and we really not interested in the SD that you have installed.

To day i was playing around with the build.prob file and i did some tunning on it.
The are the output for the tests that i did. Basicaly i re install the firmware 1110 and id did teste plain. then installed cpu master and scale the cpu to 800 and then i did add some lines in the build.prob file.

7 - change files attirbutes to rw-r-r to the build.prob file

hi may i ask if you experience this when playing youtube video sometimes downloaded video in any media player apps even the stock app. when i switch output to 1080p and play video. there is a square black thin line in the middle. but in 720p output the line gone.

realy i dont use youtube. but i did neve had any issue with 1080p videos or hi res videos during the full screen playback.
id did played videos with bit rate of 9600bps and did played back perfect.

when updating the finger print and it does not work you can test the following.
1. use ethernet connection not wifi dont know if this realy affects but every time i was not able to make the market work as expected i was using wifi (this for the first time only untill all apps are being shown. then you can use the wifi)
2. Open market, agree to TOS.
3. Go to manage applications, all tab.
4. Go to market, clear cache and force stop (DO NOT CLEAR DATA)
5. Go to Google Services framework, clear data and force stop
6. Open market, and you should get an error. (This is good)
7. Restart x7 again.

by the moment it is not a firmware update to 2.3. so i was i dont know. what i know is that they a realeasing an update to 2.3 but i dont know if it will be compatible with our devices.
if they dont change the hardware or had hardware changes i think it should not be any issue in an update to 2.3.
i hope they release that version or newer i know 2.3 is works more smoth than 2.2
also i did some research and there are already devices with amlogic same cpu that the x7 that are using android 4.
update: geniatech will be releasing the ICS firmware update on march. they have shown it on CES this week.

Last night i did start experimenting with others provides of firmware like GENIATECH android 2.3.x
but when you try to install the new rom(update.zip), the the rom installer it does open the update.zip file then it seams that looks inside the /system/build.prob and checks some values located inside that file like the ones im showing below.
Example:
ro.product.name=stvm3
ro.product.device=stvm3
ro.product.board=stv_mbx_m3
And when it does detect that is a stvm3 device it does not allow to install the firmware.
the steps to follow are.
1 - edit this build prob file and update it with the measy information.
2 - then make a valid update.zip file
3 - install the rom. (probably this will brick the device :P)

what i noticed is that you can play a DVD ISO with no problem.
what i did not test if the menus works. but the movie yes perfect.

that error is not a error from the device its an error from google. if you google you may get a solution. but it happends to every body.
you can do the following tests
test 1
1 - factory reset the device (the device will be wiped out) it will reboot

I can feel your dis-appointment. Sadly, for Android 2.2 to become Android 2.3 is really only thru hardware tweak (soldering). The batch that comes in Phil late last year are now all at Android 2.3.
If your only in Phil @tatubias, I would have replace your X7 to 2.3. Actually Measy is willing to do that too seeing all your support and post of their X7.

I emailed my Measy X7 customers on why andriod 2.3 cant install and initiated a replacement program, since they are only a handful. Some dont mind staying in their current version.

i have spent too much time fixing issues on the devices. what i can see is that MEASY has not made any effort to fix any of the millions of issues that we have sent them thought email.
Really it seems that they don't care about the client or the support. they sell and forget.

Hi again..so can you give me a sample or device that is running in android 2.2 and I can upgrade it to android 2.3 onwards. Because I was planning to buy cellphone with android 2.2 which is cheaper and I've plan to upgrade to Android 2.3..
I also was looking for Android 2.2 Media Player from other brand knowing 2.2 is much cheaper and later on upgrade it to Android 2.3. ONLY thru firmware and not hardware.

I think its a good idea to add an eject button to unmount the partition (s) manually as a workaround and then select power off manually.
Usually neglected is the power button issue on the remote seems to disregard unmounting filesystems properly, and worse even the running services like torrent and samba.
It triggers corruption of disks over time, prompting file systems check.
I am running beta test with fs eject function (albeit frOm another brand ) but my point is it's doable. Much as how we eject USB stick from our OS .

about 2.2 the issues that are not solved yet are.
1 - hd get data corrupted due the shutdown.
2 - screen desktops gets out of the screen in 720 and 1080
3 - images cant be seen they realy shown in very very very low quality.
4 - cpu is not 1ghz
5 - memory is not showing 512mb or near its only showing 198mb
6 - market does not work or only showd 2 applications or games.
7 - subtitles that has special characters like á í ó ñ or others are shown with Chinese symbols.
8 - and many other things that i cant recall now.
let be serious here, there are already similar devices with Android 4. and we are trying to make this guys fix this BASIC issues or put android 2.3. they are a joke.

this was an open letter that i have sent measy long time ago. this were some thought that i shared with Measy. believe what, they did nothing :P
First of all the concept of media player is like old by now (play audio video files view photos). we have to take advance of possibilities of technologies that is offering today.
With ZERO investment in hardware you can add some extras that NO other media player has. as you can see the concept of media player today is not enough i has turn over a entrainment home center.
The possibility of using Android it really opens Hugh possibilities to the company and the market. Watching movies, listening to audio viewing photos it not enough. People has the "necessity" to be connected today the possibility to of web browsing, facebook, twitter, any Instant messenger line yahoo, microsoft, skype, really opens the possibility to your devices.
What i have noticed is that no media player has the option to ad 3g dongle ( this is very simple to add only add things in the firmware (you dont have to program NOTHING, every Chinese cheap table has this) and has a very big marking option for your devices. today wired communications are basically dead. 3g carries has 3 or 4 more lines that wired ones so this FREE upgraded for you to add to your devices will be a plus. also 4g networks are being deployed all around the world and you only will need to update the firmware to support new 4g dongles.
Other detail that i have noticed is that no media player has enabled the Bluetooth option. Its an other firmware update that can be done ZERO cost HI IMPACT on promotion in marketing. imagine, you can do web calls or use skype using a bluethooth headset. with skype or gtalk you will be able to buy some credit and talk around the world to hardline or wireless one for less money. so you can promote the device possibilities. Also no one media player has this option. for you it has no cost. the owner will need to buy a Bluetooth dongle. or you can provide one they are very very very cheep. image you provide also a possibility to connect the device to cellphones though Bluetooth and transfer files very simple. also you can here music using the Bluetooth headset in you home not having the tv on or with hi volume.
Add webcam possibility. this item i have not investigated much due it there are not much stuff out there. but could be interesting to add the video call option. obioulsy this it has no cost the owner of the device will buy a usb web cam to use if is interested. hugh marking impact too. tablets has webcam it is only to study how this work and implement the option.
update: there are allready media players and tablets that support webcam external webcam.
Add the samba server, i have noticed that some devices on the market does not have installed samba this is a basic stuff to share files over the network.
Add VNC server so you can control the media player from a notebook.
This kind of software are all around the web and are free. the issue is that most of them need to have the media player ROOTED.Selling the media player rooted could be a good marketing strategy so the users can really have a more complete experience of it.
As an example of things that could be done is to tweek the host file of the device so most of Advertisements are blocked (they are realy a pain in the .......) this can be done by hand or you can install an application called adfree
This is an important item you should be directly developing on android 4 it has more advance opportunities and good thing that can be used. also is orientated more to "tables".
UPDATE: enable joypad support. (this can be done updating the kernel and adding some libraries. Android 3.0 has this option already included. imagine playing mame games NES Snes and any other console games.
update: Adding support for USB dongles DVB-T / ISDB-T / DVB-S/DVB-S2 / DVB-T2 digital TV receiving.
This update has hardware cost :P
it is very important that the client gets a very good experience when un boxing the device. so how it is packaged the quality of it or how it is opened its important for the subcontinent of the client. think in apple products when you un box you having a experience that you tell (or publish) to all your friend how it was your first impression.
Also the controller should be hi quality. it is the interface between you and the device it has to feel like a symbiotic relationship. as an example Measy provide really good controllers, they look and feel very expensive and hi quality. For this kind of devices that has android a remote controller with gyroscope should be provided by default. it enhance the experience in a 1000% and it has a HUGH impact in mind of the client and friends. FV-1 media player has this kind of remote controller. that is a good example. Also having back light in the controller is excellent option.

Yesterday i got a tablet NOVO7 it has a mips chipset and the same gpu as the x7. the little diference is that it has andoird 4.0.1.
i did run antutu bench mark and did not mark higher that the amlogic chipset. but the firmware to 4.0.1 is incredible fast and nice.
this update should be implemented into x7

one reason why your PC would not see the disk when HD player is hooked via the USB slave port is if its disk inside is formatted as ext2/ext3. Windows has no native support for it, you need a Ext2FS

Yes, you cant , either one lang. if you want sabay, access via network(start SAMBA service for network share).

thanks bros. i installed the FW update (although I'm not sure if it's the latest one). i got it from the first few pages of this thread. after that, i was able to login to the andoid market, although I haven't tried installing apks yet. i was able to install tTorrent before upgrading the FW though.
i am downloading some apk packs thru torrents on my PC. and will follow that steps you gave. thanks guys!

is that during playback or is it during OSD menu only? in some HD Player systems, zoom allows you to calibrate the XY to fit your screen full.

Any solution sir on static hissing sound when playing mkv files with dts or ac3 sound? I'm using hdmi cable from player to tv. I tried two different hdmi cable but still I got the hissing sound in KVM files with dts and ac3. Mkv files with aac works fine.

Only mkv with dts and ac3 sOund. AAC no problem. My Tv is lg32lv3520.

Already have the 2.3 version, but I returned it to the seller coz of sound problem. When playing mkv file with dts or ac3 sound format it has a static hissing sound, but when I play mkv with AAC sound format it play ok. I think the player have a codec problem.

No I think you go to settings-manage apps,- maybe all apps (I'll have to check) select the relevant app and click on reset defaults.
I did this when I had selected the default launch screen and then later I wanted to change the default launch screen.

I have already posted about this issue. some times the hd get the data corrupted so the data cant be fixed. what you need to do is connect the hd to the pc and run chkdsk <DRIVE> /f as usual.
but what i have discovered. it seems that is a little diference between win7 (i think vista too) to the windows xp chkdsk version.
if you fix the disk with chkdsk form xp the android player will read the hard drive as is expected. but if you run form windows 7 or vista you may not be able to make it work. it seems that has something difference in how they fix the partitions.
what i have noticed was that i fixed the hd with windows 7 and i was not able to make it mount on the x7
then i run chkdsk in x7 and i noticed the following "fix message" /CHKDSK - "Correcting errors in the uppercase file".
then i re connect the hd and it was able to read all the data. so may be hat uppare case the issue of incompatibility.
something to keep in mind.

Update: I called my seller to follow up for my measy x7 replacement, my seller told me that it is not yet ready coz all measy x7 android 2.3 producing static hissing sound when playing mkv with dts and ac3 sound format. Measy really mess up big time. I think I'm going to switch in xtreamer sidewinder 3.

I decided to make a hard chaleng top the device i did install ttorrent 0.9.6 and download a torrent of 33gb and im downloading other file of 100gb and i does not have any issue

It seams that a guy found other firmware that fits the X7. with 2.3. but the controller does not work. i have asked it so we can test it.
note: i have just received a ligtning near my home my tv burn and the poewer supply of the x7 burn too. i have exghanged it does start but dont know if it is deffently broken or not. by the moment i can access to the hard drive though usb.

it seams that the issue was not only a soldering issue. they have changed the motherboard of the device.

finally got the firmware that is not designed for X7 but is supposed to be working (OBVIOUSLY it is not PROVIDED BY MEASY, the guy that provided told me that measy is not replaying the email to him either) (Good Job Measy) .
by the moment the remote controller does not work (YET) (really don't care much you can control the device with keyboard and mouse) but it good be excellent if we can make it work. (if it works i will need to really study a lot how to make the controller works)
im now downloading it i will be doing some research of the file that i was provided.
if does work i will be uploading it so you can test it. but by the moment i don't want to upload to avoid any miss understand.
NOTE: i lightning has strike my house and i got burned the tv and the power supply for the x7. i don't know if the x7 work. only i know is that with the replacement of the power supply it starts :P and usb hard drive can be used. :P
i hope the x7 did not died .:P
this firmware it is supposed to have android 2.3 on the x7 firt version that has the m1ref board.

The provided rom looks like it is not realy andoird 2.3. but its a different version from the one provided by measy. it is tweeked.
i have provided a possible solution to the guy that provided me the firmware to fix the remote controler. i hope he can test this soon and let us know. i will test this in my device when i get tv again back and if my device works.

The display config didnt work... Already tried 2 different hdmi cable and different lcd/led... But the problem is in the player... Now if i want to download torrent i have to leave my tv on... And thats waste electricity... Even if i switch from tv to hdmi my x7 will boot again...

You will need to investigate how it if configured in the files and makes some changes.

I already try that and didnt work, same result if i turn off the tv or switch from hdmi to tv the unit still rebooting.

In Android the default setting when the screen sleep/off the wifi will also be turned off (to save battery). You need to go to your wifi settings then Advance then change the wifi setting to Always ON.

I think the problem of Measy is that they are not the one who is building their Android OS but the one who manufactured their board and some chinese manufacturers are usually lazy when it comes to firmware support. Android maybe Open source but you will still need the correct utmodules(drivers) and the correct linux kernel version to work properly.
This is really not unusual since I usually modify a firmware from another chinese manufacturer which also use the same samsung arm cpu/gpu as my tablet. I only need to change the bootloader and utmodules(drivers) for it to work properly. This is easy to do if updating from the same base firmware like Android 2.2 to 2.2.## but if your upgrading Android 2.2 to 2.3, the utmodules(drivers) usually will not work because the linux kernel version used in compiling the drivers are old. Those drivers need to be rebuild again using the new kernel.
Next the board version..usually this is really not important. The board usually is Generic enough that a manufacturer can sell it to many OEM and put the id code of the company who ordered.

But the sdk version is important, if the sdk used is not correct eventually some APPS will break or Force Closed...its better if you use the correct sdk version..for 2.3 its better to use 9. The primary reason why this is being change to version 10 is because in the old Market you can have FULL MARKET apps availability if your sdk is v10. But then again some apps will fail..

Memory of dalvik is too big...usually 32m is enough... Please remember that ARM CPU/GPU also allocate memory for their own usage so if the stated spec is 512M.. Android usually can only access 320m of memory. In your build Prop for 2.3.4 your heapsize is really to big..better to change to 32m max is 64m..but 32 is enough ..really :)

Since your CPU is AMLogic its safe to say that you can use any FIRMWARE build for Cortex A9(AMLogic) provided you have the correct Bootloader and UTModules.
3G module or usb dongle can actually be used by android..but this setting under Network is usually turned off. you can enable this via your Init.######.rc

This firmware is not for the x7 it is for other device that has the same hardware. it has being tested and it does work on the x7 the only known issue is that the remote control does not work. i have added here a possible solution to fix the remote controler issue.

6 - Then SAVE and exit.
7 reboot the device.
if you have luck you will be able to make the remote work.

The other way you can do this is:
(you have to have the x7 rooted)
1 - download the file: http://www.mirrorcreator.com/files/0KNK1RJW/remote.conf_links
2 - back up the original file on /system/etc/remote.conf
3 - copy the downloaded file tinto /system/etc
4 - chage the attributes from the new file as it was in the original file.
5 - reboot the media player.

i have repacket the firmware that was posted earlyer with the remote contorler fix.
if someone has enough guts to test it. send me a pm i can send the link.
1 - i dont have any longer the device. due it got burn in a storm.
2 - keep in mind that this repack may not work and may brick your device ...
so you will need to have more guts that Chuck norri´s :P

Just wanted to say that the wistarmedia, update.zip worked out of the box with my Measy X7 (only exception was the broken remote control).
My original Measy X7

Process that worked for me is the following sequence.
1. This came with the stock firmware that I had updated earlier to v1110 by just copying on to SDCARD and using the FW update icon.
2. Now apply the Z4Root apk and Ghost Commander apk.
This is so that later on you can update the remote controller file
3. Now update with the Wistar update.zip using the Firmware update icon and wait for the box to reboot into the Wistar android 2.3.3 screen
4. From the v1110.zip extract on you laptop from /system/etc the file remote.conf to a SDCard.
5. Connect a regular keyboard (In my case I used the wireless FlyMouse keyboard). reboot box so that it detects and boots into the new UI.
6. Navigate to apps and using ghost commander change options
a. Allow root access and remount as rw
b. Set path to busybox as /system/bin/busybox
7. Now navigate to /system/etc and rename remote.conf on orig_remote.conf
8. Copy from Sdcard remote.conf to /system/etc.
9. Long click on /system/etc/remote.conf and from the busybox dialog for chmod change permission to rw-r-r and owner/group to root/root.
Reboot now and the regular Measy Remote controller should work properly.

we were testing an playing around with some firmwares. this are the quick findings.
1 - Wistar firmware did work as expected. the only issue is the remote control that does not work but you can fix it as we explained before in this forum.
2 - MBox was able to make it work you need to do some tricks before installing if you install withought any trick you may brick the device. i may be posting the how to later when i get confirmation about if all the hard is working as expectec (wifi, ethernet SADA, etc)
3 - we will be playing around with the Geniatech firmware if possible to install andoird 4.0 on the x7. by the moment we did not start any test.
keep in mind this will be slow due i do not have any longer the device because it is burned (the solution form MEASY was buy me one). so i will be working a as consultant with a guy from india.
i still insist,why a media player is expensier Thank a tablet? i will be asking this in the home o nmt forum:P
