Best upscaling player below 5K?
« on: Dec 13, 2009 at 07:18 PM »
Hello, I just wanted to ask for advice, as I am looking for a cheap upscaling multi-region DVD player that's not choosy with discs, what do you recommend? Seems like a choice between the Nextbase, Promac, and Extreme; among them, which gives the highest quality 1080p output?

Thanks, I looked around for the recommended models, and asked for demos. But eventually I got a Philips 3360 at a little less than 3.5K. The PQ looked just as good to me on a 26" LG LU50 at much less cost than the Pioneer or the Toshiba, and did a respectable job with a 46" Samsung LED!

How about players that upconvert video (via HDMI) and also upsampling audio?  I have an old Extreme DV-6500A which upsamples audio to 88khz and I found it more refined.

I have tried Pensonic, Rainbow, Sony and Pioneer, they all upscale the video but no option for upsampling the audio.  Do you know any player that have this capability (Upsampling audio)?
