Posting my question here.

We got the HPDM1 a couple of days ago and I tried to hook it up with my 42PV80 last night. I was disappointed on how the picture looked on the big screen. It's not as sharp as expected and the whole desktop screen would not fit into the TV. Even my XDE500 is better in terms of PQ. Are there settings I need to tweak?

The netbook was connected to my HKAVR160 rather than directly to the TV via HDMI. And even the audio is not detected properly. The AVR display doesn't show if its Dolby or DTS. I used VLC to play my HD files.

I'm sure I am missing something that needs doing because PQ/AQ was just too disappointing. Any help in what to install or check would be appreciated.

I can stop speaking but I cannot so easily silence my thoughts...

Tanong ko lang kung okay ba toh?

Video Card HD 6770

Video cards matter, specially if you need the HD audio output through HDMI. For HTPC, the Hd 5450 is good enough. For light gaming, the HD 5670 is more than adequate. If you dont need HDMI HD audio output and you want to do light gaming, the GT 240 GDDR5 is a good choice.

For HTPC and light gaming, 512MB is more than adequate. The chipset is more important than the 1GB spec. The HD 6770 may be over spec when using this as just a HTTPC.

Asus Mobo

If you want the best sound quality, you need a good sound card to output coaxial or spdif from the PC. using the output from Mobo with an integrated coaxial or spdif output usually results in inferior sound quality. This appears to be how these are implemented with the mobo.

Finally able to fix this by turning off the overscan setting in the PV80. Thanks to google. ;D Playing 1080p movies is better now after a couple of hours use. It does still have problem though on dropped frames when you fast forward scenes but if you just play the movie straight, it shouldn't have any problem.
I'm only using VLC btw. Are there better players out there?

guys, when i watch 1080p MKV file on KMPlayer using default internal codec, it plays without problem. when i watch the same movie using DXVA [MPCVideoDec.ax], there is no video, but there is sound. what seems to be the problem?

i got the steps from this sites:
> http://imouto.my/configuring-kmplayer-to-play-h-264-videos-using-microsofts-directx-video-acceleration-dxva-and-nvidias-compute-unified-device-architecture-cuda/

when i use MPC-HC, it plays without problem but i just prefer using KMPlayer. please help.

my PC has Intel Pentium E5400, 4GB RAM, 512MB ATI HD4350, Windows 7 64-bit.

Screenshots:

since i could not display the video using DXVA [MPCVideoDec.ax] on KMPlayer (after following all the online guides available), i decided to find another solution through CoreAVC Pro 2.5.1 and i am glad to report that it simply works.

CoreAVC Professional
CoreAVC is known in the industry as being the standard for playback of high quality H.264 video.  The new CoreAVC Decoder allows you to offload video decoding to any accelerated decoder that works with either NVIDIA CUDA or ATI with Microsoft's DirectX Video Acceleration (DXVA) interface for any Windows XP, Vista, or Windows 7 PC.

http://corecodec.com/products/coreavc

CPU Utilization:
KMPlayer Default -- 53%
KMPlayer with DXVA [MPC-HC decoder] -- 26% (with sound, but no video)
KMPlayer with DXVA [CoreAVC Pro decoder] -- 18%

here's the screenshot:

I follow the guide po sa taas regarding configuring kmplayer. ... same issue sa windows media player.. ano po kaya ang problem and ano ang solution? thanks po...

hello,

i recently build a zacate based pc for htpc, connected to an hd ready 32" lcdtv via hdmi, bakit hindi ko ma-set sa tamang display setting? it can be too big na hindi ko makita yung taskbar or small na may border. i also tried connecting it sa avr ko via hdmi and avr to lcdtv via hdmi din, same result. anyone knows how to fix this? sa lcd monitor ko naman na 1366x768, ok naman display nya....

thanks in advance!

and btw, any rough estimate how much power it will draw per hdd na ilalagay ko?

Possibly an issue with your ATI Display driver?  If the latest ATI driver package doesn't work try to roll back to a previous version.  Dapat ma-auto detect niya yung native resolution mo (in your case, WXGA I think).

pero sir pag ikinabit ko sa avr ko, nakikita ko mismo sa avr settings na ang input nya is 1080p, tapos i tried setting the output to 1080i or 720p, panget talaga, hindi nya ma-capture ng tama yung display which is 1080i....

pag idineretso ko naman sa lcdtv, ang nakalagay na recommended setting sa pc ay 1920x1080, pero hindi naka-indicate kung i or p, so pag yun ang na-select ko, nagfi-flicker yung screen, means hindi kaya ng display, so i have to reboot para ma-detect nya ulit display ko  :(

Currently having an issue with the ff players:

Powerdvd 11
Windows Media Center

Issue: Low Volume

Pero when played using MPC-HC, XBMC, WMP and KMP ok naman ang volume.

I have tried to Uninstall/Reinstall, DL/Install Codec Packs, played around with audio settings, Volume Control settings. Same low volume issue pa rin when using PDVD11 and WMC.

Any Idea what needs to be done or configured?

May mga movies kasi na gusto ko PQ when played in PDVD11 and/or WMC

Specs:
Win7 Ultimate 32bit
Emaxx AMD880HD3-PRO
AMD Athlon II x2 250 3.0ghz
2gb RAM

koms, currently using pdvd10 without any issues on low volume. meron ka na bang realtek audio codec? mas malakas pa ang volume pag pdvd10 ang gamit ko unlike MPC-HC.

Nawawalan ng detected display. HDMI is a hot-pluggable connection, therefore pag may nawalang device (or may nadagdag) sa link magtatry siya magredetect kung ano pang meron. The PC sends audio together with the video, kung wala siyang makitang display usually hindi siya magsesend ng audio (unless you have a way to force it to).

Try mo din sindihan yung scaling nung Onkyo AVR kung meron, baka mafake yung PC na display siya (kaya lang baka mag-deteriorate yung video quality).

I just finished reinstalling Win7 and reformatted my spare 500GB HDD

Wadapaks, I made one of the biggest blunder... my favorite HD movies are gone.

I know I drag and dropped it on my main drive before reformat to save a copy, as I saw the copy progress bar on screen....

...not unless I drag and dropped it on the same 500GB HDD but on a different folder  :'(  :'(  :'(

And to make it worse, issue with Power DVD remains. Even tried using PDVD10

thank you sir.  mas maganda pa pala nung direkta sa motherboard pa ang hdmi connection ko, walang ganung issue, na fake siguro yung PC. ngayon kasi naglagay ako ng gt220 na videocard
