Nope, there's very little difference between them for movie playback. It's the shader power that matters more for this purpose (for GPU-accelerated post-processing).

DDR5 is much lesser in power consumption than DDR3 IMHO.

Not all sata are same new board are sata 3 but backward compatible to sata.

Good pm mga sir, tanong lang ako kung ma improve ba video and sound quality pag xtreamer pro to htpc?

same lang ba audio quality cd player vs htpc?

Thanks

Hi Guys!

I havent been updated on laptop CPUs for the past 3 years and the last Vaio I bought has Core i3.  Now, Im considering getting a new laptop again.  All my current and previous PCs are Intel-powered but all my GPUs are ATI.  Anyway, I saw an AMD A10-4600M powered Toshiba with integrated AMD 7660 GPU that seems to be nice and reasonable. How does that CPU compare with Intel's Core i?

Nope, I dont need an HTPC.  I need a new laptop.  hehehe

Thanks!

nope, SATA3 cables are backward compatible to 1 an 2, but if you use SATA1 or SATA2 cables for SATA3 ports, it is possible that you would not achieve the rated speed

Nakakuha ka na pala ng A10-5700. What player you are using? What kind of blurred sa text or sa movies? What is the setting of your setup. I remember the default setup on my A10-5700 is not blurred when i first setup my HTPC.  >:D >:D

Nope i dont use after market cooler but i have tested the temp last january which is di pa ganun kainit. I tested today and the max is 48 which is i think okay pa din naman.

Additional software for our HTPC reclock.

Reclock x86 : This software is very clever, thanks to it everything will be perfect if your TV does not be set to the frequency of the video. Indeed it will change the framerate of the video to be set to the frequency of the screen to avoid stutters.  >:D >:D

No problem why not use silverstone HTPC case with a lot of HDD slots. If you go matx or uatx build make sure na ang case mo has a head room for air flow and kung puwede aluminum case like lian li.  >:D >:D

Yung case ko can accomodate 6x120mm and default installed 3x120mm. I use Arctic Silver 5 for the thermal solution of my proc.  ;) ;)

@doc mel

Eto ba gamit mo sa MCE Remote Control mo?

We need to change permissions on the default launcher so we can copy over it:
1. Go to "C:\Windows\ehome"
2. In the "ehome" directory, right click "ehshell.exe" and choose "Properties"
3. Click on the "Security" tab and click on the "Advanced" button at the bottom.
4. Click on the "Owner" tab and click the "Edit" button.
5. Select "Administrators" and hit "OK."
6. Click "OK" in the "Advanced Security Settings for ehshell.exe" dialog.
7. In the "ehshell.exe Properties" dialog, click on "Administrators" under "Group or user names" and click the "Edit" button.
8. Select "Administrators" (or add that group if it isn't already there) and check the "Full Control" box in the Allow column.
9. "OK" out of all the properties and permissions dialogs.
10. While in "C:\Windows\ehome", copy ehshell.exe and paste it somewhere safe as a backup, in case you ever need to restore.

Now, we can copy the new launcher.
11. From this folder (the one this readme file is in), copy ehshell.exe
12. Paste the modified "ehshell.exe" in the "C:\Windows\ehome" directory.

Now when you press the start button on your Windows media remote, it will launch XBMC instead.

OPTIONAL: Command Line Arguments
13. If you want to add command line arguments, place a file named "XBMCLaunchArgs.txt" in the "C:\Windows\ehome" directory.
14. The contents of the text file should be the command line arguments you would like to run with.

XMBC Launcher file http://www.2shared.com/file/N_vnG17x/ehshell.html

External player with XMBC with download links that you can save and use.

To the HTPC experts out there...planning to build my first htpc soon just want to ask some queries that I have in mind.
- Planning to have it as small as possible using an SSD as OS/XBMC storage and run my files (movies, music, etc) from a NAS..is this possible?
- Is there a minimum GPU to use to run 1080p non-3D? Do they all allow DTS/Dolby passthru? Or is there a small form factor motherboard with an onboard GPU good enough to run 1080p with passthru.

TIA

onboard Intel graphics is enough for 1080P playback. you'll need at least an i3 if you want 3D.

You need HD4000 lower that HD4000 is not good IMHO. If i300 make sure it has the HD4000 GPU.  ;) ;) ;)

You can also get AMD trinity for your HTPC.  ;D ;D ;D

imho i3 kahit first gen can easily play 1080p with no problems.. even celerons
as far as i know x4500 can play any 1080p.. and chipset pa yun ng cd/c2d days...

yung g31 kaya mag play ng maliit na file na 1080p... (and that is super old entry level intel)
(for non-3d)

I have an AMD E-350 1.6 GHz ITX build which can play even BDs and BD ISOs smoothly.  With 3D, you need a more powerful proc.
