mahal. I remember a member in TPC selling Klipsch Pro Media 5.1 THX speakers for only 9.5k. And that was about 4 years ago. :) I know it's the old model but ganun din retail value ng pro media dati - 25k. so source na lang ng mga interested ng backdoor importers, if there are any. taiwan ata galing yung 9.5k :)

That is a grey unit bro pag nag ka issue problema mo pa. I think yung 9k for the Klipsch pro media is ikaw na bahala sa warranty. I don't like grey unit kahit mura pa mas mahal pa ang babayaran mo pag nag ka issue.  ;D ;D :o :o

I can understand if the difference in only 10% or 20% like what most LCD TVs have.  In this case, it's more than twice the price. I'd take the risk anytime.  There's no complex technology like LCDs here.  ;D

Found the member selling it. but "i think" tumaas na yung price cuz i really remembered it was priced below 10k before. sa sobrang tagal prolly mali ako.  ;D anyway, 3 mos guarantee to so it's a good deal. basing sa posts, wala na yata yung item but seller got good feedbacks.

"no warranties" never got me interested in forum marketplaces anyway so... ;)

AS i said that is a grey unit and that model of klipsch is already discontinued since there are so many issues. For the HD300 and HD400 model even in other country price start at 18k+. I think the 20k price locally is a card/0%.  ;D ;D ;D :o :o :o

I won't go for a grey unit if you will spend more than 5k with less than 1 year warranty or even 1 year warranty it's a hassle if you need a rma and there is no unit available for replacement of your unit.   ;D ;D ;D :o :o :o :o

with 25k. set up your HT with receivers and speakers. don't bother with PC speakers or HTIB's.

you can already buy a decent 5.1 receiver in the marketplace for let's say 7k max. leaving you with 18k.

ample sub like this (some 2nd hand brands even sell for 3k or lower)
http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php?topic=108149.0

18 - 4.5 = 13.5k

tapos finish off your 5.1 set with this
http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php?topic=107354.0

3.8k (a pair) x 2 = 7.6k (front and rear bookshelf speakers)

plus 3k (center) = 10.6k

total saved with 10 x better sound than PC speakers = 25k - (13.5k + 10.6k) approx = 1,000 pesos (for speaker cables na lang)

I have nothing against the use of PC speakers, it's just you can invest in something more worthwhile with 20 to 25k.

Dude, this isn't in the same league as ordinary PC speakers or HTIBs. I don't think comparing it to the ProMedia 5.1 set is fair, either.

It's a boxed set of 5 quality speakers plus a sub, by Klipsch. You still need an AVR for these. In other words, they're only a little cheaper than a set of Wharfedale 9.1's/9CS/9SR + sub.

I'm not a Klipsch fan (I have Wharfdales+HK), but I've inquired/researched about these for a small room 5.1 setup and it's still on my list if ever I decide to take the plunge.

Also, at Spectra audio at Park Square I the Klipsch HD 500 can be had for less than 25k.

oh, I'm sorry. So they're much like the cinema series of Paradigm. they were compared to z5500's so i thought it to be pc speakers.

additional:
checked the specs for the 2 HD series. 2.5" mid range drivers. mas malaki pa ata drivers ng altec lansing ko at 3".  ;D

You are comparing by its specs check it personaly and you can see how it perform. I just compare with z5500 since its near on the price range and z5500 has a good specs.

Z5500 is better than some of the HTIB in the market.

Klipsch sets are definitely not like any other PC speakers.   They may even be better than some stand alone sets.

If I remember correctly (Might be wrong), AV surfer, used to (around 10 years ago) have an HT set-up wherein they used (i think) a Klipsch promedia 5.1 set.  And the sound reproduction was pretty good for HT and quite loud.

Marami din magagandang HTIB out there. Its better to audition both first.

I go for Klipsch. ;D

guys,

I came across the Klipsch HD 500 at Listen Up, Glorietta, auditioned it, and was impressed.  :)  but what's even more impressive is the price Listen Up is selling the HD 500 now... they're selling it for 15k!  :o :o :o

I have some minor issues with the HD 500 though: glossy black finish looks cheap, and it DOES NOT INCLUDE an A/V receiver, speaker wire or a subwoofer cable!  >:(  I guess that can be easily fixed. mura lang naman ang cables.  ;)

anyway, what do you guys think? good deal ba tong Klipsch HD 500 for 15k?  ::)
