Help with Setup: PC and HTZ220

Hey guys, i'm would just like to ask if this kind of set-up is possible?: Connecting a PC to a Samsung HTZ220 HTiB

ensure that your pc's sound card has digital optical out to maximize 5.1 audio. Otherwise you can only use stereo analog out of your PC audio to the stereo (only) analog input of your HTIB.

How about connecting a powered / active sub to a pc? would that be possible? would it damage the onboard sound card or a creative xifi titanium soundcard?
