NMT that works best with Apple Time Capsule
« on: Mar 11, 2010 at 10:49 AM »
Hello All,

Any Apple Time Capsule (TC) owners out there? I just wanted some feedback as to the NMT that works best with TC, especially for WIRELESS streaming (from TC to NMT) without the need for a MAC or PC.

Read from forums that WD doesn't support TC. Any feedback for xtreamer, Tvix, PCH etc?

Your feedback is much appreciated.

Cheers

Which exact model of the Time Capsule do you have?  What filesystem are you using?

My Time Capsule is the 2 TB version with IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n, running firmware 7.5.

Sorry, I can't answer you regarding file system because I'm not computer savvy enough; I'll try to find out...

What I'm able to do at the moment is to connect the TC to my Lenovo laptop (running Windows Vista) wirelessly to transfer files (though sometimes prone to dropout) and to wirelessly stream movies (generally 720p only) from the TC to the laptop with mostly successful results.

My connection at the moment is:

Modem connected to Linksys router;
TC connected to Linksys router via ethernet;
Laptop connected wirelessly to the TC.

The distance between my TV and the TC makes direct ethernet connection from TC to NMT impractical, so I'm looking for an NMT that can handle wireless streaming, mostly 720p videos.

Thanks for your feedback.

Eureka!

I can testify that Xtreamer works with the Time Capsule :). With a bit of fiddling, I'm now streaming movies wirelessly as we speak :)

I believe that your Time Capsule is HFS Formatted, correct?
