Generic Players with DTS decoding
« on: Mar 28, 2010 at 10:15 AM »
What generic players can decode DTS?

I've been doing some research and noticed at least on their webiste that a lot of branded DVD players do not have DTS decoding except for their higher models.

Just need a DVD player than can downmix DTS.

Any suggestions?

i've also been searching for such a generic player.

may mga lumang models ata na may dts decoding pero nawala sa later and newer models. kapalit ata ng pagpasok ng mga bagong features. so it's either you buy a higher end model with dts which is more expensive, or buy a cheaper lower end model without dts decoding but with other features.

I have the NOVA hdmi dvd player that iI bought at SM Hypermarket last year. Surprisingly, it has everything from HDMI, DTS, DD but has been using it as an HDCD player instead using the 5.1 analog connection to my DENON AVR.

Fewer and fewer DVD players which have a complete display.  What I mean to say is many DVD players, generic and even some of the branded ones, display only the time elapsed on the DVD but does not show you what chapter you're on or track number if you're playing.  Unless you have memorized all the contents of all your CD's, there's no telling whether you've clicked on the next track button the correct number of times to get to that favorite song of yours in the CD on the DVD player.

That's why I got the Konzert K362 over a year ago.  While I don't use the karaoke function at all, it tells me what track the CD or what chapter the DVD is playing.  It also reads DivX, JPEG, MP3, MP4 via USB.

According to the salesperson, there is DTS and the usual Dolby Digital on this unit.  No HDMI though.  It does have a sub out and the 5 channel out for connection to a receiver/amp or DVD-ready TV
